LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

Up2VPS - $3.95 256MB OpenVZ VPS in Scranton

Up2VPS Hi everyone! I am back, after the Easter breaks. My inbox is now stuffed with LowEndBox related new offers, and I’ll gradually unload them here in the next couple of days. Sorry for those who are offering “Easter specials” which has now passed. Email me again if you intend to continue to offer them :)

First of all, someone tipped me this offer on WHT. Up2VPS is also trying out the “$15/year” deal (they were selling it at $15.99/year), but the “UP10” package is already out of stock. The next offer, “UP20” at $3.95/month is still available though (direct order link). You get

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 20GB stoage
  • 1TB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

All VPS are in “United States Clarks Summit”, which I think would be with VolumeDrive in Scranton (via BurstNet I think). Test IP: 74.118.192.48. Domain created in September 2009 and we posted their first offers in October 2009 being a bit pessimistic on how long they were going to last. Nice to see that they are still up one and half years later :)

    Your correct about VolumeDrive.

They rent out a room at BurstNETs facility, however request their own IP blocks and sort out their own network.

    • I would have assumed that most “normal” people would take some breaks over the Easter long weekend. Looks like either my assumption is wrong, or some people are just, hmm, extraordinary.

      • Actually that was meant in humor. I should have tagged it as such. Sorry.

I knew it was a holiday weekend. I do a lot of volunteerism on the weekends with local churches and groups and there’s always a flood of well meaning but clueless volunteers. One of the churches I help feed breakfast to the homeless with lost a couple hundred dollars of razors that some one brought with them. They left them packaged in a single bag and gave them to a local client to help carry them in. Both bag and client disappeared. *aigh*

Which most hosts turn around and send through insecure welcome email as soon as you click submit. *sigh* Who will be responsible if the VPS is compromised between the time I order and the time I change the password? Certainly I will not.

If you have to ask, you will never know. I foresee lots of problems for you. If you were ready for a VPS you wouldn’t be asking here, you would be googling, even if you have never used linux before. VPS will give a lot of areas for you to screw up, especially security wise, better stick to shared webhosting or go for a fully managed VPS.

      • Matej:

i cant stick with shared webhosting because i need it for clan website and on it need open port, and remote access to mysql, i couldnt find it nowhere so i look it here and found VPS.

        • Maybe asking for help from your clan would be a good idea?

To be honest, if you’re asking how to create a website, a VPS is probably going to be a bit much for you. At the very least your first request for help should have included specifics such as what kind of website you;re trying to create, what OS you;re running and other details like that. At this level, information like that is required and, as you may have noted, you’ll get called out for not including it.

          Good luck to you

@Matetj, Then I suggest you setup an experimental VPS+website and be ready to reinstall the OS if you mess up anything. Its actually easy to learn VPS provided you are an inveterate googler. After a few months you can move it to production.

Very good? It’s so called kiddy host.
They offered first OpenVZ, then suspended all customers without any known reason, then unsuspended them, then recreated new OpenVZ node and our accounts there (recrated NOT MIGRATED) just like that and then finally they admitted that they aren’t able to manage openVZ properly and recreated (again recreated not migrated) customers to their xen node. Of course there wasn’t any warning or anything. People usually notice those things when they try to log into up2vps box and notice that cannot log in and open ticket.

Only positive thing, and really only is that it seems that this kid live online and everytime when they mess up he’s available instantly. If you host any datas which you consider as important avoid them, if you need only vps to play a bit with it and you don’t mind if your vps is erased and recreated here and there, their xen node will do it.
