LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

VMStorm - $2.79 128MB VMWare VPS in State College PA

VMStormVPS David from VMStorm sent me some special offers for the LowEndBox readers. The two offers here are at the pricing and specification level higher and lower than their previously featured offer “vServerF1”.

You can pay with either PayPal (once-off or subscription) or credit card. Both plans have 1x vCPU core using i7-870 or better, and storage is using RAID10 based SAN. Nice benchmark from last time. These are VMWare-based VPS which means they should be happy to load most operating systems that you throw at them. Servers in State College PA (test IP: 173.189.119.77), where VMStorm’s parent company, Flashpoint Informatics is located. Interestingly you can pay “$5 setup fee” to have your VM set up in 5 minutes, which otherwise it might be placed in lower priority. Looks like a team of 3 at the moment according to LinkedIn, although David did have a fully sick custom profile URL there :)

    A simple review: They have good service with very fast ticket reply (promised less than 24 hrs) and setup (around 6 mins for me). Also They seems to be a reliable start-up with LinkedIn profiles. Simple but Good looking self-designed panel, everything seems well organized.

    Unfortunately, I have a bad connection through sprintlink & L3 (package dropping up to 10%), a bit higher price is acceptable for me if they could introduce He network:-)

    It went really well, I have a nice new VPS. A few things I’d say, their order form is a bit lacking, when you order a lightbox appears that does all kinds of cool stuff, but then it just sits there requiring you to close it manually, and your other information doesn’t clear.

    That should really redirect you somewhere once it is complete, it makes you feel like you are still waiting.

    Their site also seems a little empty??? Like their datacenter page has 6 paragraphs with no actual details, it would be helpful to know which datacenter it is, routing information, etc.

    Besides that it is nice!

      Thanks for the feedback! We’re always looking to improve the user experience and the site content/design. I’ll see what I can do to get some of those changes made.

      We route primarily through Level3 and also peer with Windstream who peers with AT&T, Sprint, Level3 and some others. Both carriers enter our facility through diverse fiber paths and we have a fully redundant core routing infrastructure. Our datacenter is privately owned by Flashpoint, the parent company of VMStorm. We’re the only tenant and the only folks with access.

        • No burstable RAM. Swap is included though which is probably better than ‘burstable RAM’ as it’s actually quantifiable and reliable.

    No — we were forced by a trademark owner of the word “storm” to move our VMStorm brand into another one of our brands, Cloud My Office. All customers and services are still live.
