Webangel.ie – €9/6 Months 64MB Xen VPS in Germany

Tags: , , , Date/Time: May 16, 2010 @ 3:05 pm, by LowEndAdmin

Webangel.ie Paul from Webangel.ie wrote to me again regarding to their plan changes. Their “micro” Xen VPS package is now half-priced, dropped to €9/6 months (USD$1.90/month). The spec has also been slightly altered, and now you get

  • 64MB memory
  • 2GB storage
  • 50GB/month data transfer
  • Xen

Servers are in Germany. It is now one of the cheapest VPS package around — probably the cheapest Xen provider around?! I noted that under the list of Linux distributions available, NetBSD was listed. Although it probably shouldn’t qualify as a Linux distro, but now we have a very low cost xBSD provider.

The original owner of LowEndBox known as "LowEndAdmin" or "LEA" for short founded LowEndBox in 2008 and created the concept of hosting applications on low resource "Low End Boxes". After creating the roots of the community that we know today, "LEA" stepped aside and allowed others to carry the torch forward.

  1. Thank you so much for the offer. i just bought one. cost me euro 10.89 for six months. took 10-12 mins for their welcome email. the server for a 64mb runs great. I love their server control, it even shows how my vps compares to others on the node and during installation gave me a view of the command line. though you can’t use it from their site (which is good)…

I’ve had some problems getting the VPS up and running, it was unable to boot and the bootstrap was borked on debian.

But the support helpt me by doing a custom install. Freaking amazing, the support took the time to do the install by hand when i’ve only payed 9€

Tested networkspeed yesterday and i get about 25mbit down and 50ms from the datacenter to a swedish box.
Now im gonna use it as a small host for some websites. =)

I picked up one of these today. Had some problems with Ubuntu 10.04 VM image but again had a quick response and manual install for me. Thanks! (I know, Ubuntu is bloated compared to Debian but I wanted to see if I could make a Ubuntu server in 64mb without dipping too badly into swap.)

    Adding another comment.
Installing VPS sucks, the scripts dont work. But support is fast. i got support the night sat-sun 00:30 when they changed my os due to my request. (ticked added on sat 23:30)

Both the VPS and network is stable all my services is running well

Extra IP adresses is 1€/month so im going to buy an extra VPS to get the extra ips (more “hardware” and little change in cost)

I haven’t abused the CPU yet, but i don’t think they will say anything about it.

My current vps is running ns/nginex/php-cli/nagios
the new vps should be able to handle mysql and munin.
Im going to ask if the internal data is free

  7. I just subscribe to this package. At beginning the signup page requires me to fill-up few informations and after that redirect me to PayPal payment. After I made the payment I hit back to webangel.ie .. and somehow when i’m in the page the page says Error 2 fetching admin: Cannot fetch user: either your login and password pair is not valid, either your session expired (timed out).

After hours of waiting no respond yet from them .. no account information received .. this make me want to puke .. only email i received was from PayPal .. which is my payment receipt..

Sent ticket to their billing dept but no respond yet.. Let see when will a respond received.

Very cool control panel, wish others had something like this. Especially “My VPS vs. others”! Now I can figure out who the cool guy is using all the I/O

You can even change rDNS, but it doesn’t seem to work from the CP, “upstream data provider doesn’t support this”, so I’ll need to contact support.

Overall, so far the network seems great. Updating CentOS pulled at 4-5MBps. I’m sure I could get higher if I used a better server closer to where these are located, most likely.

Either I’m on the same server or a different server as C, but at least they don’t try to fit a bunch of VPS’ on a crappy cpu
