WhiteLabelHosting Gregg from WhiteLabelHosting.coinfo sent me an offer a week ago where you can get 50% off recurring discount on their OpenVZ virtual server plans. They are also charging a “PayPal Fee” at 12% so after the discount you can get “VPS1” for $4.48/month. Sign up link with promo code.

  • 512MB memory
  • 25GB storage
  • 1TB/month data transfer on 20Mbps
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

You can pay with either PayPal or Liberty Reserve. Servers with Ecatel data center in the Netherlands. According to Gregg that while the server hardware is a bit old (Xeon X3220’s), they are limiting maximum 16 VPS per box. While the domain was registered in December 2010, it looks like the operation has only recently been launched. Masked domain WHOIS information, no SSL on WHMCS, and a common website template which I can’t seem to remember where I have last seen it before…

Now, Gregg has also been quite frank on where he is coming from. He is 17, has posted these comments defending Volt-VPS and whole lot of details on the working relationship with Volt-VPS. Well, from what I can see there’s still quite a bit of work to do, but all the best with your venture into VPS hosting.

    • It’s the exactly the same “all @ 12%” whatever charge imposed by Volt-VPS before, except they are trying to re-name it as PayPal surcharge this time. PayPal is expensive but I doubt they charge 12% processing fee. And as you have pointed out, it’s against PayPal’s ToS.

        PayPal fees for $0.00-$3,000.00 monthly volume are 2.9% + $0.30 or 3.9% + $0.30 if it’s an international payment. I used to think that PayPal charged a significant amount until “WhiteLabelHosting” came out with their nonsensical surcharge.

          it is forbidden by the Paypal rules, P E R I O D. No justification possible. Or that would be like justifying a burglar and thief by “but the guy had no job and couldn’t make a living otherwise”.
          If they can’t make the business plan work while also accepting paypal, they shouldn’t accept paypal, or accept paypal only on longer term payments, or raise prices a bit, in other words a lot of options.

  5. I have gone ahead and removed the PayPal surcharge, I was unaware it was against PayPal’s terms.

    As for the template, we actually had our own design for the past year, but I grew tired of it and changed it to this template just before the LEB post.

    As for us being kiddies, yes I am 17 and I am technically a teenager, but I’m not going to let common judgement on when someone is ‘old enough’ to run a business set me back. As I said in the email we do plan on getting the business registered in early 2011 – We have no SSL which I understand is a concern for some, obviously a premade template isn’t great for publicity, but hopefully you will see us around for a long time to come.

    Apologies for the late reply, I had a few days where I forgot to check LEB so didn’t even realise I was listed.

    As for the .co – We purchased it because .com was unavailable – and back in 2010 we used the .info, someone claimed that we didn’t have enough profit for a real domain (stupid attack really, domains aren’t that expensive), hence to purchase of the .co.

    • We only had a few annual clients when we offered shared hosting, almost all of them from 2010 and almost all of them received a full year of service since their first payment date, we also stopped offering annual billing rates after 2010 so I doubt this is valid post.

      ‘I never got a refund.’ – We do have a 24hour refund policy and we explicitly state that we don’t refund annual orders.

      As for the design, I could care less about the template, we had our own design for around a year but I decided it was time for something fresh just before I emailed LEB for this offer, so I purchased the template and put it up temporarily, we’re having a minimalist design created for us right now actually, so expect to see that soon.

      The design of a website should not be a marker for who is legitimate and who is not. I could go on for days listing scam-hosts which looked 110% legitimate until the minute they stole everyone’s cash and ran. Please do not judge a book by its cover.

      If anyone has any further questions, feel free to ask. On a side note stock is low at the moment as we received a rush of orders shortly after the LEB postings.

This is a good website and i don’t expect this company to be listed here. After buying i am not satisfied at all and i request the cancellation. But they did not cancel my order. To the company, you ate my 7 USD but you lost many customers who read this review.

  20. I like how your TOS mentions 5 times in the same section that you do not give refunds. I also find it strange that you only offer a 95% uptime guarantee. Lastly, you advertise “Weekly Backups” for your services but your TOS says:
    Backups are made of all accounts to protect against hardware failure and similar problems, these are not provided to the clients under any circumstances and we do not guarantee that these will be up to date or usable in the event that we are required to use them.

    @Liza – We have a 24hour refund policy, and we haven’t had any refund requests which have been denied since we started offering VPS. If people want to post lies, do it at the beginning of the post.. not later on when we’ve sold out to 32 happy customers. Your post wasn’t a review either, you just posted babble about us committing fraud, no evidence, no proof that you were even a client, etc. Denying a refund wouldn’t be classed as fraud, especially since you accepted our terms of service which includes a strict 24 hour refund policy. Besides that we haven’t denied a refund request yet.

    @KuJoe – The terms of service speaks about different parts of the refund, it may seem like we are repeating the same thing 5 times but it is more of a structured refund policy, for example ;

    Results are okay for a low end box, however in the future we will be expanding with much newer hardware and speeds especially read/write speeds will improve for clients.

          with proprietary stuff you never “buy software”, you license it for use under certain terms, which may include “no nulling” among other things. If you break those terms, you may have as well not paid any money, your contract to license that software is broken by you, terminated and void.

          The big thing is distributing and obvious ‘usage in production with the intent of pirating the software’.

          I’m not sure how this design would have been nulled, but It’s quite possible it was just a monster-template dump. We’ve seen two listings on here with the same design in a short time.

        • Well, while people might think it’s in use for ‘testing’, the amount of people I saw on digital point and the likes wanting to run nulled vbulletins/WHMCS//etc is pretty insane :)

          The hacked WHMCS is the biggest example of ‘worst idea ever’ as there is most likely (not 100% sure if it’s true or not) back doors for jacking credit card details and the likes.

    • @Shane – I wouldn’t do that, of course only time will prove you wrong. The prices are low because I can afford for them to be low, of course they will raise as our client base grows, but for now these prices get the bills paid and bring in a tidy profit at the same time.

      The reason I removed my advertisements from HF was because of this attachment between any provider and the forum itself, yes I admit @Daniel that the posts made in that thread where extremely unprofessional in terms of the type of language I used, but that thread was around the pushing point for me, at which I finally decided to stop advertising on the forum, if anything the thread proves what everyone is saying – yes HF is full of kiddies (the hosting section at least) – but for a good amount of time it was the base of WLH’s sales – no longer do I advertise on HF and no longer is it the base of any of my sales, because I would rather have legitimate competitors, clean customers, and slow growth, than thrive in sales (of which I did) yet be surrounded by ‘kiddies’ who only bring me down to their level and cause outbursts like you saw in that thread.

      Nevertheless I cannot keep defending myself when I have said all I can possibly say, only time will prove that I am attempting to run something legitimate, the past is shady because of everyone’s affiliation with WLH & HF but I can’t keep looking into the past if I want to move forward, this post may seem like an visit to the psychologist but I like to get what is on my mind out there so that others can at least attempt to understand.

      As for anyone else who is interested about updates, we should have our new design out soon although we’ve been slightly delayed on that front, and I plan on emailing a new offer to lowendbox soon which will offer some rather low priced xen vm’s on the new E3-1230 CPU. (West Coast)

        • As to your claims that we hosted phishing, we cracked down on all phishing profusely, don’t ask me how I got on those lists, (RBN) as I don’t have a clue myself.

          Runescape Botting isn’t something which we feel is bad in any way, we have it in our ToS to stop CPU abuse – As a matter of fact I doubt whether any of our customers use our services for that activity.

          We hosted 3000 sites, and as most of our customers resold we had a hard time cracking down on bad content, that doesn’t mean we allow it, our ToS now is basically the same as our shared hosting ToS.

John cut contact with me and refuses to talk to me about anything (Trust me I have attempted to at least ask why the site was suspended) – I was the main reason VoltVPS gained so many sales, although he should of been fine without me.. that is the only reason I would be able to tell that the site was suspended (lack of sales).

      I can’t tell you to jump now or wait, that would be bad ethics, but I would recommend getting a backup just in case.

  31. @ab can I presume you’re talking about the botting? Quite frankly I just haven’t given it much thought, at first I did add that into the terms of service because I had experience with one client abusing his CPU via usage of this program. If this is indeed against the AUP or TOS of any authority (such as the developers of this game?) then I would feel obliged to stop our services being used for such a thing. If you personally question this activity then please do give me any documentation you can find on the subject, I can and will change the terms of service if need be.

    @Aras – I’m surprised to say the least. If he would allow me to contact him I would certainly offer him a chance to sell his servers/clients, that way your service can stay intact, unfortunately I can’t find any way of getting in contact with him.

  33. Yup we’re indeed having DNS issues, we’re waiting on our registrar to give us an answer, they’re contacting their upstream provider. We did mass email all clients with temporary links until we fix the issue.

    Service was fine for about 15 days, then it went down, came up after a few hours, went down three days later, now it goes down every other day like clockwork.

    This time, their normal AND backup domains aren’t resolving, and the IP they emailed me leads to a default page and 404 error. Any normal provider would have given some sort of service credit after more than 24 hours of combined downtime.

    • Yes our Netherlands location has had frequent downtime every 3-5 days. We’ve been attempting to find the issue for 14 days and have recently swapped out some hardware. If the issue happens again we’re actually changing hosts.

        • Well they refuse to check the server out and confirm that it isn’t software even though I’ve spent 14days+ making sure it isn’t kernel related etc. So I’ve just decided to pick up my bags and go.. no issue, found a really nice provider to replace them & the new server is coming in today.. then we can start xfering clients.

          I’m clueless as to what it really is, they did do a ram swap but the issue is still occurring, logs show absolutely nothing.. but even if the hardware issue didn’t exist I’ve being offered such a better deal by this other DC that I would be a fool not to try it out. Thank you for your input @Francisco + drmike.

      • Seconded. I know every datacenter and datacenter provider that I have dealt with, there’s a method of escalation. They may not pay attention to it (ie ev1 and their CEO’s “Here’s my email address in case you have an issue that can’t get resolved. Of course I’m going to ignore anything you email me about but it’s there so it looks like I care.”) but there are methods of dealing with issues that can’t be dealt with locally.

        Considering that it’s a “hardware issue” without explanation, I’m kind of torn on this one. I have hardware issues as well but if it gets to this point, I just replace the server out of stock and say the heck with it. Lemons aren’t just for cars you know.

    At 21:00 GMT (24/10/2011) we will start the backup process for VPS services on our Netherlands nodes (NL1 & NL2)

    Downtime will be on a per-vm basis, the more data you have the longer it will take for us to take the backups.

    We will not actually transfer you to the new node until all VMs are on the new node. Once this is done you will be able to see your new IP via SolusVM, we will also mass email clients to tell them that the transfer is 100% complete.

    We hope you enjoy the new node!

    Take it from someone who has patiently waited through all the downtime, do NOT even think about touching this host. Close this tab, and never look back. A datacenter move is one thing, but we’re moving into the FIFTH day with absolutely no service, and no service credit or refund! Granted, sometimes the box is up, but 40% of the time, it’s not, and it restarts constantly when it is up.

    I’m on LEB looking for alternative hosts, and to be honest, hosting my services at my house would be far more stable than WhileLabelHosting. I say this from experience, as the 15 year old laptop next to me has an uptime that greatly exceeds any box on Gregg’s pathetic excuse for a hosting provider.

    RUN, do not walk, FAR away from this cash sink. If you do buy a VPS, and if you do manage (fat chance) to find your box online, try this as your first command…

    • Feel free to open a ticket if you have any issue. We’re having serious issues right now with our NL server because we upgraded our server and changed DC for hardware reasons (benefiting customers performance) however we’re now experiencing attacks of 1-3gbps. We’ve already told the DC to contact their hardware provider & look into hardware firewalls however you must understand that there is very little we can do @ server level to prevent attacks like these. Our old provider Ecatel did provide sufficient protection and our new provider does not, we’re actively working on issues like these & I’m happy to personally compensate anyone who has had major downtime. I understand the issue and I’m not ignoring it as you seem to make out.. quite the opposite, I have spent the past 5 days trying to make sure everything is running perfectly and as you so kindly pointed out it isn’t – Note that we have over 45 days of consistent up-time with all of our other nodes (USA). The NL location is proving to be problematic and I am working as much as possible to resolve that.. but when you’re waiting on email replies all day you can’t do much. As I said.. if you have any issue open a ticket and you will be compensated.

  44. Still operating, if pre-sales emails aren’t received (we do apologize if so) I would highly recommend opening a pre-sales ticket as there is no way it can be lost unlike email (we have switched mail servers quite a few times in the past weeks)

    NL is now running much smoother, got all the kinks worked out.

Wow.) as you can see here. That’s a very, very bad point.
    So fine, kids need a place to host their “tools”, but should it be listed on a serious website such a LEB? I don’t think so no. The good point here is that people reading this page will most likely never rent anything there. Not because of MY comment, but I think many people here have proven points that this host is to avoid for any serious needs.
    I, and this is my own opinion though, really think that they also “search” your box and most likely would steal the source if you put anything valuable. This is “heavy” accusations indeed, but I do know how HackForum’s kids are and you really don’t want to trust any of them. Well, even if it was my only option, I wouldn’t. So leave this to HackForums, and go find a real host somewhere else.

    I do not know the owner and I am not selling hosting/servers so this is not to cause any damage to the “company”, it what I really think.

    PS: And have you ever seen a real hosting provider not offering SSL secured web panel?!

    I’m the system administrator hired for a project, I get paid to set up an advanced server cluster for those guys. It has nothing to do with WhiteLabelHosting – Yes we asked for everyone to attack the site so that we could get a hold of some data allowing me to change configuration and tweak settings.     LEA posts hosts no matter what under most circumstances, so that he can destroy the ones who cannot prove themselves worthy (by keeping up with the mass influx of clients) – We’re still here, I’m very experienced, and I don’t plan on going anywhere, so in reply to your question, go and pick on the guys who are in the dead pool, because I’m certainly not, and if I have to sell my soul to stop myself from being in it, I shall.     The fact we’re out of stock 90% of the time & buying new servers on an almost weekly basis proves you wrong. We’re the cheapest solution on the net, and we provide great levels of service for the price customers pay, not only that, but if you actually knew me, you would understand how dedicated I am to the task at hand.

    Sure we do. Because we host around 750 clients so far including competitors sites – We offer management for around 50 servers all of which pay extra because their server/data is important, and I’m yet to see a thread accusing us of such a thing.

    I’m not a ‘HackForums kid’ buddy. I’m the guy who makes money from ‘HackForums kids’ because I can. I’m good friends with other providers who offer their services to HF members (Such as DotVPS.) & can honestly say that our competitors gain all of the abusive clients for the most part. We do around 1 termination/week (and with 10+ daily orders, that isn’t bad at all.) This may sound egotistic but my clients and my prospective clients that are gained from HF UNDERSTAND WHAT WE DO AND DO NOT ALLOW. You will not find a single thread on HF where anyone recommends us for shady uses (They recommend Santrex or DotVPS..etc) – You will however find many threads where we are recommended for legitimate reasons, by legitimate clients, hosting legitimate content.
