The T&C seem a little restrictive. I don’t have any linux box that uses less than that. Infact they are at least double!

    8b) INODES
The use of more than 50,000 inodes on any shared account may potentially result in suspension. Accounts found to be exceeding the 50,000 inode limit will automatically be removed from our backup system to avoid overusage. Every file on your account uses up 1 inode.

    December 4, 2013 @ 1:00 pm | Reply
    • That is mainly directed at the shared hosting services we offer, I shall be getting our terms of service updated to clarify more specifically with our VPS services. However in terms of limits, were fine as long as your not looking to hog up the CPU 24×7 or cause I/O problems.

I picked up one of their offers a few weeks ago and so far I’m very happy with it. Reece was nice and quick to respond to my pre-sale questions with detailed answers, my account credentials were emailed just seconds after I had placed the order/paid, and everything immediately worked without any problems. Good connectivity within the U.S. and to Europe. Originally I was looking for an other offer at Choopa because of their great connectivity to Europe, but inventory had already run out when I tried to order. So I signed up for this one instead, which is at Colo@, and I haven’t regretted it so far. I even managed to max out the 1Gb/s port with test downloads from several East coast locations. Server performance is also quite nice, though it seems to be a little lower now than at the beginning – more active accounts, I suppose, and maybe some additional testing/benchmarking going on right now due to the current promotion. The above 2GB/100GB/annual offer is probably this year’s best Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Cyber Monday occasion arond here. Very tempting… ;-)

      8a) Resource Usage
      User may not:
      a) Use 25% or more of system resources for longer then 90 seconds.
There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.
      b) Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server.
This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD. c) Run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy) on shared servers.
      c) Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.
      d) Run any bit torrent application, tracker, or client.
Please note that you may link to torrents off server, but may not host or store them.
      e) Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities
      f) Run any gaming servers such as counter-strike, half-life, battlefield1942, on a server not sold for that specific service.

As already mentioned by Reece in these comments, their current ToS represents their shared hosting services, and not so much their VPS services. I opened a ticket with them asking what they restrict, including game servers and and IRCD, they did not say I could not run them. The only restriction they gave me was that I not use 100% of the CPU for extended periods of time.

Got an email that might be related with the downtime you’re reffering:

As you may be aware we have had some downtime occur over the past few hours, this has been caused by an inbound DDOS attack towards our services, we’ve had smaller inbound attacks which were stopped in this path but sadly this one caused us some hours downtime.

We understand this may have caused an inconvenience to you just as much as it has to ourselves, we are issuing a 15% discount off your next term to all customers affected on NJVZ1 as a good will gesture for the downtime which was unexpected.

We’re extremely sorry for any troubles this may have caused, we’ve dealt with the situation as efficiently as we could in such situations.

If you would like to request the discount of your next term, please open a support ticket and it’ll be applied for you.

    Thank you for your patience.

    • Alex, if not to be rude there is in no way a DDOS attack cannot be expected at any hour of the day whether if you with a provider charging $100, it can quite possibly go offline. Unfortunately we did indeed get attacked and also at the same time we’ve received a large number of abusive clients due to this offer on LowEndBox. around 30% – 40% have been removed from our services upon trying to literally grab all the resources/bandwidth and going against our policies.

Before this our uptime was for over 60 days no problems what so ever only this weekend was our biggest downtime to date. It’s gutting the network in Clifton has been solid (Thanks Colo@) the only issues we have faced has been the DDOS attacks. None of our other services were effected, infact we stopped taking orders last week and left our newer nodes sitting idle (Which they still are) to curve the massive influx of problematic clients aquired from this advert.

I must also note to everyone, if you wish to try and abuse our services you certainly will be sent packing.

If you do require help, please feel free to message us instead of calling us shitty.. We’re nice guys wanting to help everyone. Do you really think we love DDOS attacks? I should hope not they’ve cost us a lot more than 1 single VPS is worth.

You offer 2 GB RAM, but we can use only 512 MB RAM (25%)?

  22. Everything is back to normal now, we’ve removed a rather big chunk of customers services to ensure they won’t be abusing again, or making ourselves targets for DDOS attacks.

Orders will be enabled again tomorrow on our new E5 nodes, we will however have limited stock on our 512MB deal (Roughly 20)

    • Ricky,
As a matter of fact the DDOS issues definitely was not an excuse, I wish it could of been a much simpler issue than those but the truth is it wasn’t. Your right on spot about LEB attracting some very unwelcome clients to our services, it is actually quite disappointing to say the least. As a Business we’ve made the extra effort to ensure we don’t face such problems like this in a future, call it teething problems if you like, we’ve been hit, taken note and worked out a solution to to prevent such things occurring in the future along with much stricter policies in place.

If you are a unhappy client, you are more than welcome to get in touch with us we don’t bite so if you are entitled to a refund please request it as we don’t like ending on bad terms.

On another note: NJVZ1 which faced the DDOS issues has had non since.

This company might just be the worst excuse for a provider i have ever come across. My VPS had been suspended 4 times without warning because their billing system couldn’t recognise the automated payments it itself set up.
Average ticket response time seem to vary between 24 and 196 hours. Average email response time is non existent.

My server has now been terminated with total data loss since i haven’t had access to the server in 8 days (even though i’m paid up).

Dedicated Minds seems to be nothing more then an amateur operation running on a shoestring. Avoid at all costs.
