Via this WHT offer. Brian from URPad.net also followed up with an email, to tell me about their $3/month VPS package. They have some low end VPS listed on their website, which I suspect would be OpenVZ based. Basic information such as data center location and virtualization method should be easily located on the provider’s website — which seems to be lacking here. ToS is available (as a copy of iWeb’s, and URPaD website is hosted with iWeb in Montreal). Anyway, here is what you will get with $3 VPS:
- 80MB memory
- 4GB storage
- 40GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Direct order link here. For $5/month you can get 256MB memory, 14GB storage and 140GB/month data instead (via this order link). Servers in Chicago IL. Domain has only been registered for 2 months by someone looking at starting a hosting business.

Thanks for featuring my site here. Yes, all of the VPS’s that we offer are OpenVZ. Every VPS is located in the SingleHop Data Center in Chicago, Illinois. I would be glad to answer any questions that you may have.
You have a blank bullet point
That WHT thread is an interesting read. I hope they’ve learned how to manage WHM/CPanel by now.
I wonder how they got away from the shared hosting market it sounds like they were going to shoot for and over to VPS’es.
The AUP appears to be a copy from many places:
http://www.google.com/search?q='One+important+aspect+of+the+Internet+is+that+no+one+party+owns+or+controls+it.’
They’re Terms of Service is basically a rehash of their AUP is another form. Not really a ToS.
They have a single server:

I gather they’re trying to run both their shared and VPS’es on that box maybe?
They have a link to singlehop on their dedicated server page.
@drmike
Nice find. Then you mean to say they don’t own servers to give dedicated hosting? Then it might be an affiliate commission kind of a thing they want to make money with :)
I saw the singlehop bit as well but didn’t point it out as some hosts use one datacenter for one type of hosting and another datacenter for another type. I know the datacenter that I use caters to mostly ISPs (ie cable and dsl providers) and corporate server racks. I’m one of the few webhosts in there. I may now even be the only one come to think about it.
Yes we have learned alot about WHMC/cPanel. We have not gone away form the shared hosting market by now means. We care about customer service and quality of the products that we offer. Yes we are a reseller of SingleHop Dedicated Servers. It is no different then someone buying a reseller account for web hosting. You have to start somewhere. VPS servers are also located in the SingleHop data center. To help with latency issues, we picked them as the are more central in the US. We are aware that there is only one server showing up on the status page. We are working on getting that fixed.
Yeah I moved our main site to a dedicated server at URPad.net. We are now doing mirrors for OpenVZ so we decided it was better off to isolate our website rather than keeping it in a VPS environment.
When you try to order. The page just stays blank at
https://www.urpad.net/clients/cart.php?a=checkout
Can you please contact me via Live Chat? I will manually push your order thru the system. The page pulls fine for me on both Chrome and IE after my browser cache and ipconfig dns has been flushed. I am sorry that you are seeing this problem. I will be more then glad to help you with your order.
Issue with web page has been fixed. Please let me know if you need help with anything.
URPad.net is apparently now “Pheonix VPS” [sic]. Go figure.
