LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
QQ? terii is chinese? or do they have somoene else doing presales?
We have a salesperson in China take majority of the inquiries from Chinese-speaking countries. I’m Asian, yes, and I do read good amount of Chinese. :)
ahh :)
i can (barely) read pinyin, not a single actual character though lol
Here is an article on why people should start learning Chinese. Do have few good legitimate points though. :)
Wonder how much demand companies who get featured on here receive for support in foreign languages..
The demand is decent. My previous venture were made up with majority of Asia clienteles – they were mostly not from here though. You’ll be surprised by the amount of lurkers on various other forums. :)
Just had a look at Google Analytics data for LowEndBox.com. Segmentation of visitors by country of origin:
1. USA
2. UK
3. China
4. Canada
5. Germany
Number of visitors from China is actually Canada + Germany combined so I presume there’s a significant market there, especially considering this blog is primarily targeting English readers. But yeah, VPS hosts providing Chinese support might be a wise thing.
@LEA: You sure those are not due to the automatic website scraping tools? :)
I wonder how much of that Germany is me coming through my VPS.
Most of the scrapers we see are Germany based.
and one of those from USA is me coming through my vps. ^_^
I used to moderator a fairly large discussion forum and a lot of the bots/spammer came from Hetzner IP addresses ;)
Speak of the devil….
Netdirect was one of the companies I was thinking of. Had one of our clients who hosts a social networking site notice that they’re getting scraped from a fresh IP address that we hadn’t noticed to be a part of their space previously.
heh Blocked now.
Robots usually don’t understand javascript, the data gathered by Google Analytics and similar tools should be robot-free.

In Denmark, at the moment Chinese is only offered by very few Colleges.
A license is needed to establish a website if the server is located in China and the procedure of the license application is complex and difficult, this is the chief reason why Chinese always buy a US VPS.
I can’t seem to get the discount code to work. Awesome speed and ping to Kansas from AUS.
