Update August 2010: HostCadet.com has moved to a new IP since August 12 and its home page has been blank for the past weeks. I do not think they are in business anymore. FAIL.
Update HostCadet is using Xen.
There are some hosts that present lots of information on their website to help prospects making decisions. Then there are some who leave important information hidden. HostCadet is probably one of them. Spotted their VPS offer from $5.99/month — which gives you:
- 128MB memory
- 5GB storage
- 100GB/month data transfer
No info on what kind of virtualization technology they use. No words on where they are hosted or test IP (although their website is hosted at Colorado Info Tech). At least they have some very out dated Linux distributions that help you to run your old applications. Debian 3.1 anyone? Or Fedora 6? The glowing server looks pretty hot though.
Although the domain has been registered since 2007, but it appears that the site has only recently been in the current state. So buyers beware.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
We have contact info on our site plus we have live chat available for support and sales. Just like it shows in our vps plans area you can see we are using XEN. We do have older dists. listed but can install any requested. We will have the new ones up listed on the site this week.
Yes we are a new company but we are here to stay. We own all of our equipment and have hands on access to all our servers.
It looks like HostCadet has changed hands. WHOIS updated to point to SpecHosting.com, and has been down since 3 August. Probably going to the dead pool this month.
