DirectSpace have been around since 2001 and now serve over 1,000 dedicated, colocation and virtual customers at their fully owned private datacenter in Portland, Oregon (west coast). Their nodes are powered with the latest Intel processors, 16GB RAM, RAID-10 HDD storage setup and are connected to the outside world courtesy of 2x1Gbps uplinks. A “lightning fast” SSD is used to run the hypervisor. Over the last year or so, DirectSpace have suffered hacks, nodes getting wiped and long downtimes. Let’s hope things have improved since these incidents – please share you expierence below with us if you currently have a service with them.
Each VPS will be automatically backed up every day. They accept payments via PayPal and Credit Card. Their refund policy is applicable for the first 3 days only. You can check out their Acceptable Usage Policy here and their Service Level Agreement here.

So your telling me they get $480 a year to pay for collocation, IPs and the hardware? That’s gonna work out well. Dead in 3 months.
Or massively oversold ;-)
I just noticed “they were hacked” aka wiped their own nodes and see who wanted their yearly VPS back
Own their own datacenter: sure they can get free colo then.
hardware is probably bargain or one of their unused dedi’s.
They will get IPs on DC price.
It’s duable
No DSVPS1 available. :o
Very slow download tests…
For a 1Gbit line i’d assume atleast ~20+MB/s I received the following:
Not a surprise really, they are single homed with only HE connectivity…
I don’t know where you got that, but their website says this:
Cogent Communications – 10Gbps
Hurricane Electric – 10Gbps
Level3 – 1Gbps
MCI – 1Gbps
In addition we provide local peering via NW Access Exchange (NWAX) – 1Gbps

Come on…. a single connection from a kimsufi server to USA where latency is over 150ms and you expected 20MB/s
I don’t quite follow your logic.

I just hope they did not have problem anymore with data lost.
The offer is nice btw
The lower package is a nice offer. Let’s hope they restock it some time.
Well, their servers are not very bad…
I experienced 2 data losses and some downtime with them, quite a few months ago, though. They performs reasonably well in last few months (hope this can continue), and now I put no important data on their boxes and am keeping an eye on manually backups.
Awesome price + no avaiable = Free publicizing
I took $15/year plan earlier
Wow, 10MB/sec?
Well, my review of them…
When I first got a VPS with them in 2009, their service was great. I could expect a 10 minute response to all my tickets, and if I remember correctly, there was only one instance of them taking over 10 minutes (ie, breach of their SLA).
Today, I have 2 VPS’s with them and their support is shocking crap.
I make a ticket, and wait 12 hours for a response. Their SLA hasn’t been updated so half of it says they guarantee a 45 minute response, and the other half says if you wait beyond the 10 minute mark, they will credit you with 5% up to 1 month of credit.
So anyways, 12 hours is definitely a breach of SLA. It tells me to go to mysupersupport.com to claim my credit. Thanks, an expired domain name.
I create a ticket on their website, wait 2 hours for a response, in which, who seems to be the only technician working at DirectSpace, responds to me with something along the lines of not wanting to credit my account because he started working on my ticket (apparently) right as he received it. Just he didn’t bother to initially respond to my ticket saying that he was working on it.
Actually, I wonder if I can claim credit on my 2 hours of waiting for a response, to my credit request.
So a month later, I still cannot get my VPS’s up online because I’ve been waiting for a month for them to update their OVZ templates to allow Ubuntu 12.04
Highly DO NOT recommend them.
Ended up writing a small web application to calculate my SLA credit reimbursement…

I have Bad experience with this provider…All my VPS down more than 3 days…after that my data lost..
I have one vps from them and i say SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I had 2$/m (same as 15$/y) complete garbage. Had data loss and it was usable for anything.
This is a bad site, can not log in my account somehow.I purchased VPS but can still be accessed.
Same problem here, I try contacting them, no response. What wrong?
How do you have SSD run the Hypervisor on a system without a Hypervisor? OpenVZ is kernel soup, not true virtualization.
Boss, they are just overselling and making the people foolish by their nicely written speeches !!!!!!!!!

Pretty slow indeed (IPXcore & Semoweb VPS, east coast both) and very irregular (from 250KB/sec to 1.8MB/sec)

I have had been with them, many outages. Look for reviews about them on WHT.
i’ve been having a strange issue with the provider, my vps looses network connectivity randomly, unless i’m actively pinging the server. if i don’t ping it eventually i can’t ssh into it or ping it, then i have to reboot it.
One of the worst providers I ever tried.
Tons of outages, random server crashes and crappy bandwidth (still single homed HE?)
The folks running this outfit are long time in the industry and should be doing way better than they are.

Hello,
did someone manage to get VNC working ? I have a VPS form this company but no luck with VNc so far. Just empty screen during logon. Using tightvnc.
Any advice here?
Thank you
Be warned, they over charge for a mediocre service (My VPS was down for a week at one point due to them losing their (only?) server). Still waiting for a refund from them (cancelled in December). They ignore my tickets.
Thieves who run a mediocre (slow) service
I’m using this vps since this offer, never changed the plan.
Work reaaly fine, nerver down (some reboot each ~6 months).
Used for web, internet radio and tetrinet server and work really fine, fast and stable.
I have purchased a vps nominal 60G hard disk, finally only has the 5G hard disk,I send a tickt #116511 ,But nearly one month has not solved the problem!
