Welcome to LEB, ZipVPS. It would be nice if you offered more options as far as OS distros go.

I’ve had a Windows VPS from ZipVPS for the last couple months. It’s been running great and Jason was good to deal with. Quite happy with it.

I was lucky to snap an even better deal from ZipVPS/Holoshed Technologies on WHT (256MB VPS for $15/yr) and I also got a Windows VPS with them. So far, I’ve had no known issues with them and nothing to complain about the support either.

It shouldn’t annoy me, but it does. Why skip from ‘Byte’ to ‘Meg’ – surely it should be Kilo > Meg > Gig>

  8. Bit expensive for 256MB, other competitors are doing it at $10/yr.

Sometimes you get a better service from someone who is charging to make a profit than a provider who is stuck with you for a year and has barely covered the IP cost never mind supply a VPS to go with it.

Exactly. I’d love to see more offers like this. A real ‘lowend'(ish) VPS, with more than enough resources than what -most- (but not all) need. Plenty of room to run some websites, use as a VPN, use for development, etc.

I’d not touch any service that offers more than 1 or 2 GB of RAM for $7, that’s just a sign of a provider I don’t want to deal with. I’m not a fan of the location of this offer, but I’d almost certainly pick one up just to support a company that isn’t racing to bottom and trying to compete on price and price alone.

Kudos on the offer, I hope it goes over well.

Ok, that’s enough. One full day to reply to the tickets. This is too much for me: I’m going to ask for a refund. Very poor customer service.

I already opened 3 tickets, and Jason always answered in a friendly and effective way. This is not a poor customer service, at least not for my standards. I also noticed almost a full day delay on two instances, but I asked low-priority questions on non-USA office hours and I was anticipating a even greater delay.
Some delay could be a unfortunate consequence of time zones.

Being 12 hours late in replying is not an “unfortunate consequence” of anything.
Jason is a good man, I’m sure about that. But this is a business, and needs to be managed as such.

So I’ve recently gotten the 256MB plan and I have some words to say. So I first bought it and it became apparent that setup wouldn’t be fast after waiting an hour, it took around 8-9 hours to activate, which I was fine with.

So I finally get into the box via ssh, and instantly notice lag, I shrugged it off until it became very apparent that it wouldn’t stop lagging. I’m talking about running apt-get and having it freeze up for around 30 seconds or more, and every 10 seconds have it freeze up for around 3-5 seconds, terrible.

I’ve checked top and it’s not just my VPS using all of it’s resources, I’m only using around half or so of the memory. I’ve never experienced lag like this with any other provider on 256MB RAM.

Overall, I might be asking for a refund, if that request is denied I will live with it but will not be renewing as I didn’t need a server badly, it would just be nice to have a server that doesn’t lag.

          Copy and paste from email

          Holoshed Technologies
I wanted to pass on a notice that we are still here! Sadly we are unable to control when an offer gets posted but no matter what I am doing my best to keep everything running!

I am a full disclosure kind of guy and the main issue right now is that I am in the hospital and have been unable to answer tickets as quickly as usual even though my wife tells me I have to answer them, I do not feel I can offer the best support to my clients half asleep.

Because of this I will hire a new support tech to handle requests a lot faster but I promise each request will be tended to and given the time it deserves and also each customer will be compensated for any time lost.

This has been a blessing and my worst nightmare all in the same package since I cannot be here at the moment the way I was just 24 hours before the deals were posted.

For those who wish for refunds, they will be honored without any questions as it has always been my policy.

I know online anyone can say anything and some may understand what it means when I say Pseudo Tumor Cerebra and some may not but having to be hospitalized for an emergency shunt placement (brain surgery) can play havoc on a person and their family.

I had worked for months to get this deal listed on LEB but surgery and recovery decided to stick its head in first and make something that was a dream be crushed with the inability to be my usual watchful self.

All orders were handled as fast as possible with my wife logging in as me for order approval and me doing the ones I could just after surgery in recovery.

I could go on but the point is not to ask for sympathy but just to understand we are ZipVPS are not like this and sadly an emergency took over right as I was notified the offer went live.

I will share this last tidbit so people know, on LEB, you post your offer and wait months for it to be listed… I had no idea months ago what would happen the day the offer page went live and all in all I am still at fault for not being able to keep up with the support requests from the new orders.

Forgive me please and for those who stay it will be worth your while, for those who wish to leave – you will receive a 100% refund no questions asked as you have every right to do so.

Any emergencies such as host node down or something like that should be sent to while we work through the normal ticket queue in the coming 24/48 hours. This email goes directly to my phone beside me in the hospital bed. I will answer as fast as I can.

Owners of ZipVPS, the Hawks Family – otherwise working as Holoshed Technologies.

Please again accept how sorry I am for this bad timing and we will work to make everyone happy as possible as soon as we can!

Nothing to add, canceled service after first 2 weeks, tried to work a little there, no way to call this vps usable.
    And now… hacked.

I understand the situation and reset the password. However after hours, I got this email:
    —–
I have pulled your VPS offline and am closing your account due to abuse as you went full usage on your CPU usage the moment you logged in after the password reset for cs.holoshed.com. This went on for hours and is a violation of our terms and under those terms I am closing your account.
    —–
That’s pretty cool hah! I didn’t change anything on VPS after password reset, and never aware of this CPU usage problem. I got no notice before account removal. OK, now I have lost all my data. That’s the service.
