The Greatest Thanksgiving Turkey Recipe
If you want to make a fantastic turkey recipe, the easiest method is to brine your turkey. This means taking the raw bird and soaking it for a day or so in a salty/sweet mixture. This brine is then washed off and discarded and the turkey is cooked as usual.
The brining process makes the meat very tender and it retains its juicy flavor. It’s virtually impossible to overcook a brined turkey, which is where most people go wrong. On Thanksgiving, it’s always tricky to time the turkey right and make sure it’s thoroughly cooked in time with the other dishes. With brining, if you need to leave the bird in the oven for another hour, no problem.
My favorite brine recipe is available online and I’ve been using it for 20 years with great success.
