Drama Star CharityHost Sold to "Josh"

CharityHostThanks to LowEndTalk’s @Saragoldfarb for sharing news that CharityHost has apparently been sold.

There was quite a bit of drama about this provider earlier this year.  A LowEndTalk member won a 500GB storage account, and populated it with backups of his private porn collection.  He didn’t share links with anyone but nevertheless, CharityHost flagged the account as violating their “no adult content” policy.  This raised the obvious question of how CharityHost knew this, unless they’re scanning people’s private files.  The member’s CH account was wiped out, a lot of questions were asked, and the answers were contentious.

Someone even made an entire website about the affair.

Then CharityHost rebranded as ExactVM.  Except they continued to use the CharityHost brand as well…?  CharityHost was actually a rebrand itself.

Now apparently CharityHost has been sold to…”Josh”.  Josh who?  We’re not told.  Someone who’s been in the hosting industry for over 20 years.  Apparently the previous owner (Andrew – see their Wyoming business filing) will be staying on to help with transition.

As usual, comments on this news are spicy.
