Yesterday, @Kevinf100 shared news on LowEndTalk that MassiveGrid was canceling the offers it posted last year.
We are writing to inform you that the products associated with our LowEndTalk (LET) promotional offer are being retired.
To keep delivering the level of service you expect from us, all affected services will be upgraded free of charge to an equivalent plan from our 2026 product line. These plans offer improved performance and stability.
What will happen
Migration date: 1 December 2026. Our team will upgrade your services on this date. No action is required on your part.
Pricing: Your recurring price will be adjusted to the new plan’s rate from your next renewal, in line with your current billing cycle.
New prices are considerably more. LowEndTalk member @fgp said:
More than 3 times what I paid before.
Ouch.
Now, if a provider offers service for a year or three years or whatever and then says “when your contracted term is, up, we are raising prices,” that is completely legit. Two parties agreed on a price for a fixed term, and when the fixed term is up, they renegotiate. If one side doesn’t want to renew at the price, they’re free to walk away. That is just basic business.
In this case, however, MassiveGrid said in their offer:
Lifetime Price Guarantee: Your discounted rate is locked in forever. No sneaky price hikes—ever.
Oof. LowEndTalk member @gumnos opened a ticket pointing out the wods “lifetime” and “locked in forever” and got this response:
Thank you for contacting us and sharing your feedback. We understand that changes to pricing are never welcome, and we appreciate the chance to explain the reasons behind this decision.
The LET offer was introduced under very different market conditions. Since then, the cost of server hardware, particularly memory and storage, has risen exponentially by a factor of 4-10 times the original pricing across the industry. As a result, the original pricing is no longer sustainable for us without compromising the quality, stability, and support you rely on. We chose to move these services onto our 2026 product line rather than reduce service standards or let the infrastructure behind them age
I don’t begrudge them raising prices but when you say “your discounted rate is locked in forever” then the community kinda thinks the prices are…well, locked in forever.
@MassiveGrid was last active on LowEndTalk in September 2025.
