Luna Node has been around for a while and started with a traditional SolusVM-based setup. Later, they switched to an OpenStack-based setup in Canada, offering a real cloud at LowEnd pricing. Features include actual hourly billing (like iwStack and EC2, not like DigitalOcean and Vultr), custom OS and templates, floating IP addresses, live snapshotting, an API, detachable volumes, private networking, and security groups. Luna Node is a registered company in British Columbia. They believe in free (as is freedom) and customer privacy; they offer the option to send GPG-encrypted e-mail and they published their distributed monitoring system on GitHub). Payments can be made via PayPal or BitCoin, as well as credit cards through PayPal. The first 20GB of image/volume storage is free. Private networks are $4/month. Nodes in Toronto have dual Intel Xeon L5639 CPUs and nodes in Montreal have an Intel Xeon E5-2650v2 CPU. Unfortunately, there’s no IPv6 support yet. I can vouch for Luna Node. These guys are incredible. Honestly, everything you want in a provider. Clear communication, explanation of issues when they occur, unbelievably incredible feature set that just keeps growing. I feel that they are the most underrated provider in this market.

Luna Node is great, although the lack of ipv6 support was a deal-breaker for me. I’d definitely go back once that’s implemented though.
Although, what exactly do you mean by “Features include actual hourly billing (like iwStack and EC2, not like DigitalOcean and Vultr),”; what about the other two’s billing do you consider non-hourly?
I was wondering about that as well. Probably Maarten meant the other cloud features like being able to create detachable volumes and define virtual network / security groups aren’t available on DO/Vultr.
By the way, I see Open Stack Kilo came out not long ago, any update on the ipv6?
We are testing kilo release and its IPv6 implementation. If the required features are available and can be adapted to our custom panel, then we will implement IPv6.
We have had our IPv6 assignment from ARIN for quite some time now and are really just waiting for openstack to catch up with the IPv6 world.
Does it look like you’ll be able to roll out ipv6 in any reasonable timeframe, then, or will that have to be put off until next openstack version?
It doesn’t look like IPv6 will be available any time soon.
Cool. I remember you were in Chicago a while ago and had to move out, you’re in Canada now? What happened, and what are your prospects regarding stability of your business?
We had issues with spammers signing up for services and then Spamhaus threatened to blacklist our providers entire IP range if our account was not terminated, as a result we had to move. Our ability to prevent outbound spam was very limited due to the fact that we did not have full control over the infrastructure ( we were leasing equipment, and utilizing the provider’s backend API ).
We own our equipment in Toronto and have full access to our router and compute nodes, so since then we have been able to put measures in place to stop spammers.
As we continue to improve and provide customers with quality and reliable service we hope to continue to grow as we have been for the past 2 years and expand to other locations (now toronto, and montreal.)

Nothing soon, but in the 6mo-12mo range, hoping to add services in Vancouver (Cologix) and possibly OVH France (although OVH’s Montreal support much better than France).

Yes, as stated in our terms of service: “Sending email in bulk is prohibited (e.g., over one thousand emails per hour)”
