5ite – $5 256MB OpenVZ VPS in Germany Exclusive Offer

5ite Andrew from 5ite.com emailed me their special VPS plan for LowEndBox readers. Similar to what he offered last time, but cheaper and with lower disk space allocation and monthly data. For $5/month you can get this “LowEndBox-Special” package:

  • 256MB guaranteed/2048MB burstable memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 200Gb/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ

Update: Sign up link here. Forgot it twice in a day… Doh.

Servers are with Hetzner in Germany. Operated from UK. Both name servers (ns1|ns2).5ite.com points to the same IP address so good luck in establishing any contact when that particular IP is unreachable. Domain registered since 2007 although Andrew only launched in July/August this year. Andrew works in VoIP so web hosting is his part-time gig (according to his Twitter account) but has done quite a few websites (search on DigitalPoint) so I guess he is technical :)

While $5/month is great for servers with 2GB of burstable memory, but then there is always a worry that high amount of burstable memory can easily lead to over-subscribing and bad performance.

The original owner of LowEndBox known as "LowEndAdmin" or "LEA" for short founded LowEndBox in 2008 and created the concept of hosting applications on low resource "Low End Boxes". After creating the roots of the community that we know today, "LEA" stepped aside and allowed others to carry the torch forward.

    Hi!
Cannot see a $5/month signup link for this? No link for the newhost Romanian one either?
