Is the 100Mbps uplink dedicated? Are the CPU cores dedicated (I’m guessing not as it’s OpenVZ…) if not, what’s an acceptable load for the “Spring VPS 512MB” plan?

    May 22, 2016 @ 12:02 am | Reply
    • The uplink to the vm is not dedicated, you won’t find this anywhere as the NIC is being shared with other customers. The cabinet has 10G and the server has a 1Gbps port, which is never being saturated. It is always constantly being monitored by our staff, and we can always upgrade the server to 10G if needed.

RAM availability to the node is fulfilled with large DIMMs allowing us to allocate healthy RAM amounts to each container. The acceptable load to a container is expected to be less than 3. Though customer’s usage will fluctuate and we understand that. Customers running CPU extensive applications continuously are obviously are encouraged to purchase a dedicated server or spread the load throughout multiple vms (on separate host nodes of ours)

At the end of the day, we want you happy with what you purchased and others happy with the performance they receive within a shared platform.

Any money back guarantees on these? Really tempted, but the ping is a little high and throughput not as good as I’d want for the spring 1gb.

Interested in a VPS for Windows, but looking for 2012R2 instead of 2008R2.

I’d also like to know if you allow customers to load Windows Server 2012 R2 and use their own license, considering Windows Server 2008 R2 is now 7 years old and has limited support from Microsoft.

    • As of today we offer Windows Server 2012 with our Win VPS series, but for now it is available on request by opening a support ticket until we finalize 100%. this can be reinstalled for you on request for no additional charge as long as you have a Windows VPS server with us

Any offers on anything smaller like 128 mb?

    May 22, 2016 @ 9:04 am | Reply
    • These are the best offers available, as a matter of fact our previous LEB (256MB) offer was more expensive than the 512MB offer here.

We went all out and provided some mad crazy deals for LEB this time :-) It doesn’t get any better than this, and these offers are only for a limited quantity / time. We plan on expiring these offers before Spring season is over or whenever we sell the certain quantity we planned on selling.

Once you have finished your order your price renewal will stay the same and will never increase, so here is your chance to secure the ludicrously low prices :-)

    • John, I am intrigued at your claims as they do not reflect or describe how AlphaRacks operates in any way. I just looked at our ticketing system statistics, and the average response time this month is 6 minutes, last month being 11 minutes. We are staffed 24/7 and internal policy for our staff members on shift is to keep response times under 15 minutes at all times. This is how we provide nearly instantaneous support and we also have multiple techs working on every shift. Speaking of which, since our support department is structured this way to provide quick responses to every ticket, we’re working on implementing automatic AJAX page reload on our ticketing page so clients are able to communicate with our staff as if it was IM (instant messenger) and see updates in real time without having to refresh the entire ticket page.

We also do not block any ports on our side, our VPS hosting comes with root privileges, which means clients who wish to do that may set up port filtering with iptables.

Please contact me, I’ll verify these claims and make sure your concerns are resolved. Hope to hear from you soon. julian @ alpharacks.com

          • For clarity, I still have *not* received any communication from “johnL.A” whatsoever so I cant address or verify these claims. Please take into consideration that when you are on a public blog like this, any one can post any comments about company A or company B and get away with it almost every time, especially when comments like this become hard from an administrator/moderator standpoint to check and verify.

I do want to mention that what he is describing is highly uncharacteristic of our service, we pride ourselves on our fast ticket response times of 15 minutes or less. Given the opportunity, I would like to learn more details about his case and amend the problem (if such exists).

    • First of all, I’m wholeheartedly sorry that you had a not-so-pleasant experience with us during the time you used us. I searched your username in our system, and based on the distinct username, I’m assuming the account I pulled up was yours (correct me if I’m wrong). I see that the last time you were a customer of us was well over a year ago. We continuously strive to create the best possible hosting experience for our customers, and as a company, we are always looking to progress forward. We’ve been taking steps to do exactly that and have a lot of things have happened since you have last used us 1+ year ago. To name a few major events that have happened within that time period:

      – We have acquired RIJX (another VPS provider) and merged its customer base and assets into AlphaRacks
      – Introduced our new KVM VPS/Windows VPS product
      – Introduced our new dedicated server series
      – Overhauled our reseller and master reseller hosting series and added exclusive features for resellers
      – “Near-Instantaneous Support” Added new technical staff members with an internal policy of keeping support ticket response times under 15 minutes
      – DDoS protection being a free and standard feature to both current and new customers

We frequently conduct Customer Surveys to receive direct feedback from our customers so we know what we as a company can do to become better. For example, upon one of our recent surveys, we have seen requests for accepting Bitcoin/BTC payments, so we’ve started accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment about a week ago. And one of the things we’re currently working on is modifying our traditional ticketing system page to have auto-reload support with AJAX. As our average ticket response times are always within a matter of seconds or minutes, we noticed a trend of customers refreshing the ticketing page every few minutes, which is inevitably an inconvenience. With AJAX auto-reload, it will automatically update the ticket page in real-time as soon as a staff posts an update to the ticket, without the user having to refresh the ticket page. This allows for customers to treat our ticketing system as if it was Instant Messenger or a Live Chat, as they can always expect quick responses that resonate near-instantaneous support.

I would like to invite you back to AlphaRacks for any VPS on the house (for a year) to show you we’re serious about providing helpful customer service and dependable servers. Please send me an email directly at julian @ alpharacks.com I will be looking out for your email.

Yes, I noticed. I just think $11.5 for 512ram/512swap (with 1Gbit) does not make much sense, if there is 1024ram/1024swap for $14, with +1 vCPU, +5GB disk and +1TB transfer…

        But otherwise very attractive offer!

        May 25, 2016 @ 7:47 pm | Reply
        • Yes, it is worth mentioning that the only offer listed here that is 100Mbps would be the first plan, 512MB.

All other packages here are 1Gbps (by default)

          Hi Leic,
I am from Shanghai and my broadband provider is China Unicom.
I am interested in the ip you listed , is it a testing ip or your vps ip that alpharack assigns to you.
It looks pretty good, but a friend of mine currently is having a 3.99 package from alpharack too. His vps ip is 155.254.49.XX, the ping result is not as good as yours.

And apparently , from my side, the route is quite different to 104.223.25.XX and 155.254.49.XX
@Julian, I’d like to buy a $14 package ,before that would you please confirm which ip range would assign to customer ?

  24. my question about title still remains to be answered

    May 25, 2016 @ 8:37 pm | Reply
    • The prices in this LEB listing are accurate and you can go to the order form to verify it too. these offers are only for a limited quantity / time. This is *not* just a one time or first billing cycle discount… Once you have finished your order your price renewal will stay at the same rate and will never increase, for as long as you keep it.

The Linux VPS offers begin at just $9.99 per year, while the Windows VPS plan is $6.85 per month. The difference in cost for Windows is because of licensing costs necessitated with providing Windows VPS hosting.

As of today we also offer Windows Server 2012 with our Win VPS series, but for now it is available on request by opening a support ticket until we finalize 100%

    is misleading,sir

    May 26, 2016 @ 12:52 pm | Reply
    • I don’t realize what is misleading about it. It does its job as a title by providing a brief overview of the offer we are giving, with the finer details of each package within the post itself.
The prices are accurate and you can look at the post, we have a VPS offer exclusive to LEB for $9.99/year here without any extra hidden fees.. no set up fees or anything like that.

If you still feel otherwise for some reason, then you should directly contact LEB administration at https://lowendbox.freshdesk.com/ and suggest a revision for a title change :-)

      Thank you for your feedback

    Hi Julian,

I am spending around $70 / year on a shared hosting for couple of my websites. I think Spring VPS 1GB for $14.00/year sounds pretty good to me but will I get cPanel along with it? Do you guys help on migration? If yes, how much do you charge for migrating my website to the VPS? Where is the server located? Please advise.

    May 28, 2016 @ 11:07 am | Reply
    • cPanel/WHM is not a free control panel, so it’s not included with our VPS, it is a cost that we must pay for too. The cost for a cPanel/WHM VPS License is $15/month

Free installation is provided on any control panel you purchase through us. Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to order a control panel for your service.

There are also many free control panels out there that you can use as an alternative to cPanel, off the top of my head here are some free/open source control panels: Webmin, Kloxo-MR, ZPanel CP, Vesta, Sentora, Ajenti

Our servers are located in Los Angeles, USA.

If you are looking for a shared hosting product instead of a VPS, take a look at our Reseller Hosting specials, it allows you to create unlimited cPanel accounts. https://www.alpharacks.com/ResellerSpecials/

Many thanks for the reply. I am not a programmer and I don’t want to hire a programmer as this is recently developed website and I just need it to perform well – I thought that VPS is a good option. Will you guys install Webmin on the VPS? I just need a simple interface for managing the website.

And What is the usage memory I get? I know that the OS and other stuffs on the VPS consumes some memory though. Or can you suggest something like a cloud for hosting PHP website – do you offer any?

For example in Ubuntu it would be as simple as running:

          apt-get -y install apache2 php5 mysql-server
          apt-get -y install phpmyadmin
          sudo ln -s /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf /etc/apache2/conf-available/phpmyadmin.conf
          sudo a2enconf phpmyadmin
          service apache2 restart

Then phpMyAdmin will be available at http://ServerIP/phpmyadmin/

    • Pre-Sales is *not* equal to Support. We believe in taking care of our current customers – that always comes first. Technical Support and Administration Departments are 24x7x365, no matter what holiday or time it is, they will be there to help our customers. As you can tell from the comments others have posted, our support always responds within minutes, and any AlphaRacks customer can back us up on that.

The Pre-Sales department availability, just like most USA-based companies, was sporadic due to the Memorial Day holiday. We’re back to normal now, and pre-sales inquiries are being responded to. You will receive a response soon.

Question for Julian or associates: I like the specs of your plans and I’m considering switching from my current VPS host to you guys but I’m a Fedora user and I notice you’re using a rather outdated Fedora template which is no longer supported (Fedora 17) – Would it be possible to get a VPS using one of the newer Fedora VPS templates (e.g. Fedora 22 or higher)? I wouldn’t mind if it had to be requested through a support ticket, I’m just wondering if it’s possible at all.

It’s sad to say, but this VPS is very very very slow. I have just a simple Ghost website and most of the time it does’t work, cause Nginx timeouts. Your technical support is very quick and every time I wrote a problem about slowness, they solved it, but I cannot open a ticket about slowness every two days. I’ll ask for a refund.

    • Tweaking nginx to work perfectly the first time can be tricky to some. Have you tried switching the web server to Apache or LiteSpeed to precisely identify where the issue lies (within VPS or web server software)?

Please contact me at julian @ alpharacks.com with a temporary log-in to your VPS and I will gladly provide you with some pointers after analyzing your existing configuration.

I must admit that your support is a First Class support: the answer is always very quick. It seems that now finally the problem with the slowness is gone. I think that the nginx configuration has no issues, because it follows the instruction provided by Ghost team and moreover I had been using the same setup in another VPS for 4 months without a timeout and without a reboot. Now I’m a happy customer and I hope service will remain unchanged for the future.

    • If your order is being flagged as fraud in the system then it is triggering something with MaxMind. You can open a ticket to our Billing dept. for a manual review, and we can override MaxMind’s decision if we decide to approve your order.

Please contact me, I would like to first verify your claim to see if it is true, and make sure your concerns are resolved.

I think there are a few things still need to let everyone know

    1, the response time will certainly be more than 15 minutes, the recovery time after six hours? Ticket # 145659;
    2, feel free to stop your vps, and the reasons given do not know what to say is;
3, in two days to stop using my vps twice. The first unexplained offline 18 minutes response, six hours after the resumption, the second time to say because I have a vps connection to the Amazon, but they do not allow such a connection. I do not understand why this is.

Eradicate lowendbox recommendation, I bought alpharockd of vps.
    1, response time must exceed 15 minutes. Perhaps the previous month can in 15 minutes;
    2, after the shutdown issue support tickets, six hours after recovery;
    3, the service is unstable, after a month later, two days down twice;
4, the staff technical abilities, to answer puzzling and anger. (Leonard P.)

I have been using this service for a couple years now, starting with RIJX before they were acquired by AlphaRacks. Since the acquisition I have had several issues including being locked out of the VPS as well as the control panel (e.g. VPS was shut down and control panel could not start it up), and having the VPS shut down without explanation, without notification, and without any attempt to reboot the VPS. I would strongly recommend looking for another provider, as AlphaRacks has been the worst VPS provider I have used.

Hello Julian! I am looking for a new host and you guys seem perfect! It is easy to read through the BS and spam hate posts and timestamps show that oyu really like to put customer service int he forefront. My question is this:

The last VPS I had set the resolution to 1024×768 and would not allow me to make it any larger no matter what. Is this true of your servers as well? Thank you in advance.

    August 31, 2016 @ 8:47 pm | Reply
    • Short answer: You can set the resolution to anything you want.

With our Windows VPS, you can set the resolution in your Remote Desktop client before initiating the RDP session.

With our Linux VPS, you can install VNC with a “GUI” and configure the VNC settings at any resolution you like.

I am very cautious with AlphaRacks. I have a couple of VPS’s and 2 reseller accounts. for months now I have had to deal an issue where not only would sites load incredibly slowly, but would drop off several times a day. my uptime monitor would do nuts notifying me of the sites going offline. To top this off I’ve had to deal with support that simply gave me scripted answers that claim the issue was fixed yet it would appear again. My support ticket for this current complaint has been dragging on since July!

As a result I have to use other hosts to run these sites as it’s just too unreliable.

I am a new customer of AlphaRacks and I was referred to you from Lowendbox.com. I saw you had a great deal running, however I was confused as to whether a windows install would come with the package I wanted. I read through the comments section and found a quote from you (Julian) stating that all of the servers listed came with windows. Still a bit weary and hoping for clarification I sent in a pre-purchase ticket (Ticket ID: 796538) asking if windows would be included on the exact package I specified and was told by “Leonard” that it absolutely did come with windows, so I placed my order.

After placing the order there was no way to put windows on the box. I sent in another ticket (Ticket ID: 991501) explaining that I had two sources saying that I would get windows and unfortunately I did not have access to it, and that this is specifically what I was trying to avoid. “Leonard” responded that Alpharacks provides other servers with windows, I should upgrade.

This isn’t only false advertising, you have specifically lied to a new customer twice. Your company sold me promises only to forget those promises when I actually gave you my money. I am emailing this to you and posting it as a warning to all future purchasers on Lowendbox.com

Hello all, I wanted to leave an update. Their service is quick, I will give them that. I had a response in about twenty minutes flat. Unfortunately the response was curt and insulting, specifically blaming me for this problem and saying that I didn’t read the offer correctly. Services terminated and refund (hopefully) incoming. I have plenty of screenshots of this exchange, where I was SPECIFICALLY told i would be given certain services for certain prices and then was denied after they took my money, if anyone wants them. Buyer beware.

Another update, “Julian” who sent me the rather curt email about immediately cancelling and refunding has neither cancelled my service nor refunded my money as he said had already happened. Even the “3 day money back garauntee is a lie. Folks please learn from my mistakes, Alpharacks is a scam. They will be nice and supportive until they get your money and then good luck getting anything at all. I will leave another reply in a few days with an update.

Last update, I was contacted by “Julian” again telling me that they processed the return on my third request. I just received an email from the payment processing site saying I did receive the refund. However “Julian” has sent me several more emails telling me I need to change the posts I made here on LEB, painting them in a better light. When I told him I would not he countered with explaining line by line how he feels I am responsible for this mess. Again buyer beware, very glad to be done with this company.

I am now going to do a chargeback on my credit card company and let your legal wizards handle it. • Josh, you ordered a Linux VPS, not a Windows VPS. AlphaRacks provides both types of VPS hosting services: Linux and Windows types. We occasionally run special promotions on both types of offerings, and in this LEB post we have both Linux and Windows VPS specials.

This LEB post which you ordered from shows two different types of offers: Linux and Windows.

As you ordered the wrong product, I issued a full refund for you – no questions asked.

Sir, I came to your company as a newer VPS user asking legitimate questions SPECIFICALLY stating that I did not know if the package i linked by number coantained windows options. Your tech support replied to me twice that it WOULD include windows. I understand you feel this is completely my fault, you have made that aware to myself and the rest of us, but to say that you cancelled my order and refunded my money “no questions asked” is just a lie. I had to specifically ask you and your company to stop contacting me because you refused to let it go, issue my refund, and move on; you wanted me to admit that I am at fault.

        • Josh, we will have to agree to disagree. I have the pre-sales ticket loaded up here which shows you linked to this very LEB post which has both Windows and Linux types of VPS offerings. The Windows VPS special is outlined under “Windows VPS Offer:”

In any case, we still issued you a full refund as you ordered the wrong product – there’s nothing more to discuss. Thank you,

Hello again Julian! Even though you personally cancelled and refunded my money now I am being billed again a month later against my permission. I don’t even have access to your site anymore, not even a server with your company, but you are yet again charging me. I plan to call your customer support in a moment to get this straightened out but I wanted to let prospective new customers know that this company has not only lied to me and treated me like crap, but now a month after I ended service with them they reactivated payment. Worst VPS I’ve ever dealt with.

I went to order via btc, and it tripped your fraud detection and won’t let me proceed with my order. Possibly because my order is placed via a vpn? I’d suggest removing the ip flagging for bitcoin orders, as many people that will be using BTC as a payment method do it as they’d like to not disclose their personal information (ip, name, payment details) and you will lose many customers this way.

Never buy from this company. Agreeing to their terms means you do not get a refund. I understand that policy, but they also agreed to give me a server that worked. After multiple support tickets and replies with “should be fixed now” I have stopped using their servers. Save your money, go somewhere else.

Once every few weeks my servers with alpharacks goes offline.
The offline status usually lasts half an hour or a few hours.

If you’re not using it for something that needs to be online all the time, it’s fine.

Guys, be aware that Alpharacks is suspending services for not apparent reason (on a quick online search seems im not the only once). Once I complained about the suspended service, they just respond with some nonsense log (normal connections).

For 4 days the service was down and they stop responding.
I opened a pay pal conflict .. and the next day they terminated the service, sent me a email saying the termination was due to not paying ( it was paid until 2018) but they changed the dates…

Not to mentioned that the speed/bandwidth they say they offer is total BS.

I have the screenshots to prove.

For those who will get any of their services… well good luck.
