You get what you pay for. Corgitech is a bit more expensive than other companies out there. But they have good uptime and no-nonsense support. Definitely worth the money.

Agree, good service and uptime. The only thing that pissed me off was their invoice goulash.

        Hey John,

Get in touch with us and we’ll see what we can do to improve your negative invoicing experience. I can’t recall your specific experience but would like to make sure it doesn’t happen again. So please get in touch :)

You can use the 50% off on any of packages :) so The Standard one is reduced from $30 to $15.
Addon RAM can’t be reduced as much. We could go as low as $6 per 512MB. Get in touch with us if you prefer the addon RAM option as the normal price on the order form is $8 per 512MB. Personally I think it’s just worth going with the Standard Package instead because for $2 more you get 50% more CPU Power , 300% more disk space and 300% more Bandwidth.

I am afraid this is for new orders only where existing services are not cancelled.

I signed up with the New York location, since the article above mentioned IPv6 is available there. My new VPS does indeed have an IPv6 address assigned to it, but connectivity does not work.

Hi, Yes we are aware of this and it’s likely due to routing issues due to the Hurricane. IPv6 is reachable but not from all locations around the world. The Datacenter have been made aware.

I did open a support ticket and although it’s still broken, I’ve been very impressed by their response. They were very quick at getting back to me and at looking into the problem and they seem pretty competent and professional. I can’t expect a $7 host to be hurricane-proof so I’m willing to just live with it for the time being.
Upon further testing, it does seem like “some” IPv6 is reachable, just not the whole world as Kakashi mentioned. E.g. I can’t reach Google but I can reach Hurricane Electric. Apparently HE is aptly-named. :-)

      Hi Tester,

You can stream your own ISO from your local client if you want but you would need a fast reliable internet connection. We have a lot of clients using Arch linux. What we do is mount the ISO from our Datastore and then give them console access to install the ISO themselves. The ISO can then remain connected to the VPS for whenever the client needs to reinstall.

  8. I can’t find the test IP addresses on the link provided. Only IPv4 addresses are posted on the website, no IPv6.

What kind of IPv6 addresses do you give out? Do you give a /48, or otherwise short (when compressed with the “::” notation) IPv6 addresses? I’ve been disappointed that most providers from lowendbox give out unreasonably long and random IPv6 addresses.

How many CPUs are available on the 14$ plan?

Also, do you support BSD systems? I’m not familiar with VMware; do you offer ssh- or VNC-based console access, so that I can install FreeBSD etc?

    November 4, 2012 @ 11:19 pm | Reply
    • Kakashi:

Yes I am afraid since only three locations have IPv6 we haven’t put the test links on our site. That’s something we’ll look into.

We are assigned a /48 or /64 range by the Datacenter. We then divide this amongst the clients. So you would be typically be given the last Hexadectet (the last part). e.g. 2132::::1:0 to 2132::::1:ffff

That’s more than enough for anyone :P

Two CPU cores are available for the Basic Plan ($14 normal price).

We do allow BSD operating systems to be installed. Typically we ask the client for a direct link to the ISO they would like and then mount that to the VPS. They can then install the OS themselves using VSphere.

Are game servers okay to host here?

In terms of how well they work the main criterion is single threaded CPU speed — something that varies a lot from host to host in my experience.

    • Kakashi:

You can host Gameservers. Depending on the location we have between 2.0Ghz per Core – 3.0Ghz per core. You’ll need to poke us via Live Chat for more details.

Based on traceroute and he.net’s Looking Glass, the New York test server appears to be inside Equinix NY7 in North Bergen, New Jersey. The IP address belongs to ReliableSite.Net and is colocated at Atlantic Metro Communication’s (amcbb.net) NJ3 datacenter (amcbb.net), which probably has rented rackspace at NY7.

The data center actually is in New Jersey, but in a sense it’s true that Corgitech is based at Equinix NY(7). However, I don’t think it’s accurate to say “We don’t have any servers with AtlanticBB” since the test server is colocated at amcbb.net’s NJ3 facility.

    BTW, here’s a picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nj_site.jpg
