Crucial Paradigm - $6.40 128MB Xen VPS

Crucial Paradigm Via this WHT offer. Crucial Paradigm is an Australian web hosting company that does both Australia (which was featured here before) and Dallas-based Xen VPS. With their latest promo-code LVPS20L, you can get their new VPS plan for $6.40/month.

  • 128MB memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 150GB/month data transfer
  • Xen

There is also additional discount for prepays (15% off for annual payment for example). From their VPS plan page, it appears that they are still using HyperVM so it might be a concern for some people here. Otherwise Crucial Paradigm is an established shop with good reputation. Only 64bit kernels/userland are offered so might use more memory than 32bit.

This vendor has provided good technical service.

The vendor has had two IP outages when its ISP, Level(3), re-engineered their gateway. Very proactively and professionally handled with good communications. We were able to work around it completely.

The price is slightly higher than normal. The provisioning is not automatic, and took over a day (initiated on a Sunday). Tickets had to be opened to get everything in order. Overall, very professionally run in our experience. Sister of the Australian company, and tech support (tickets) seems to be merged, but accounts and billing are not.

A good complement to SoftLayer in Dallas, given that their ISP is Level(3).
