My English is very bad (Google Translate), I hope it doesn’t bring wrong meaning.
Obviously I am from China and I have used a lot of VPS because of GFW.
RackNerd VPS and hosting are the most stable ones I have used now, and basically I don’t feel any problems.
I hope I can always use RackNerd, and I hope RackNerd can get better and better!

So I am trying to teach some students how to buy a domain, pay for hosting, setup the CyberPanel Free Starter 1 Domain license and create a WordPress website on that server. The 1 Domain version requires a less than 2GB server
I’m looking at the following Server Plans (see below)…
Looking at setting up 1 WordPress Domain, subdomains and Mautic email server for transactional and marketing emails…
– 2 GB KVM VPS
– Shared – 140 GB
– Reseller – 150 GB

CyberPanel info
CyberPanel vs CyberPanel Ent
CyberPanel is 100% identical in both versions. The only difference is which web server is running in the back-end.
CyberPanel comes with OpenLiteSpeed and is completely free for an unlimited number of domains and worker processes.
CyberPanel Ent comes with LiteSpeed Web Server Enterprise and it is free for 1 domain. If you need more than 1 domain, you can view our pricing page. The CyberPanel license includes the price of your LiteSpeed Enterprise license.
Hi SPC504 — appreciate you considering RackNerd as your VPS provider.
For the use case you described, it sounds like the free version of CyberPanel would suffice (w/ OpenLiteSpeed & unlimited domains/worker processes). Give it a try, and if you ever need to reinstall the server and start over (or use a different control panel down the road), you can always reinstall your server from within our SolusVM Control Panel.
We also have a video tutorial on CyberPanel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCNXx-mlAYM
Can I order dedicated ip for shared hosting ?
Hi ntk! Great question.
This is totally possible, just open a sales ticket if/when you’re ready for this and we’ll help :)
Awesome service from RackNerd, been using their shared hosting for 2 years already, almost 0 downtime, awesome price and support. best deal ive got for long time
Hi Rui!
We sincerely appreciate your long term business, we are happy to have you with us! It’s great to see that your experience has been amazing with RackNerd, this is what we love to see.
So, I’m confused about some of the Racknerd pricing and capabilities I’ve seen listed here. I see that I can buy a 1 year VPS with 50GB of storage for $32. Great deal! I go ahead and buy. But then I go to the Racknerd website and look at KVM VPS. For roughly the same specifications the cost is around $240 for the year. Huge difference! Furthermore, when I contacted support about uploading a custom VM image, I was told that it’s not supported by my “service plan” and that I’m on my own. I also found that my VPS doesn’t have KVM extensions enabled to allow me to run a nested virtual machine (an attempted solution for running this VM image).
Which “service plan” do I need in order to install a custom OVA or VMDK on the VPS and how much does it cost?
Hi chmedly,
Happy to hear that you’ve found our offers to be attractive and value packed :)
We can support mounting of any custom ISO with any of these plans (as long as it’s not Windows, as that would violate SPLA agreements). For this to happen, simply open a support ticket to our technical support department with a direct download link to the file ending in .iso, so that we can proceed with munting the ISO file for you to complete the OS installation over VNC. At this time, we do not support OVA, or VMDK file extensions, our platform is based upon the desirable KVM virtualization technology.
By the way, we do not officially promote or promise to provide nested virtualization capabilities (running a VPS within a VPS, generally isn’t allowed/enabled by VPS providers). That is something that would be better suited for a bare metal deployment.
Thanks for the follow up!
I did indeed sort this out with support and the issue is that the appliance I wanted to install is not available as an ISO. I didn’t recognize the singularity of this image type wrt KVM (and perhaps Solaris specifically?). Interestingly, it seems that there are a few VPS providers who can install a raw image onto, what I believe is, a KVM system. But the vast majority of KVM VPS providers cannot accommodate anything but an ISO.
As far as nested VM goes, I recognize that it can be a can of worms. But I had hoped it was a possibility, at least for experimentation.
Hi chmedly — you’re very welcome.
Hope everything is working out well for you — if you have any current needs, be sure to get in touch dustin@racknerd.com
is it possible to get a custom quote for shared server in SG for 250GB storage?
Hi Billy – we’re open to providing custom tailored solutions. I can personally help provide you with competitive pricing. Please send me an e-mail dustin@racknerd.com and I’ll help :)
Will it be the same price at renewal ?
thanks
Hi Jonathan — great question!
Renewal pricing will be the exact same :) We’ve yet to increase customer pricing, or add any surprises — nor do we intend to. Though if you’re looking for additional peace of mind, renewing in advance (whenever ready) and or subscribing for more years up front, are always an option too.
We’re flexible and hope to work with you!
