Hey Dustin, I bought a server using one of the promotions on your main site and it has been great. Even when used in Australia.

Quick question, the first month I have used a lot of bandwidth setting everything up (almost 2TB out of the 3 allowed). I expect I’ll go over this with around 15 days left before the roll over, what happens if I reach the bandwidth limit? Will the server become inaccessible or limited speed? If so is there a way to add additional bandwidth?

      Thanks in advance!

      • Hi Owen, thank you so much for ordering with us! Happy to hear everything has been so smooth.

By default when users exceed their bandwidth limits on our VPS product line, it will automatically suspend the VPS so that the end-user can upgrade their bandwidth allocation with us. It’s always good to see pro-active customers such as yourself, we can upgrade your bandwidth allocation on demand. Please send me an email dustin@racknerd.com – I’ll do something very special for you!

We sincerely appreciate your business with RackNerd.

Nice offers. I already bought a VPS from racknerd from there Black Friday deal and it’s working great as a Plex server.

The 2GB KVM offer here is tempting, though… I could use another vps.

…and I bought one. Pretty happy with the new box. Not as much disk storage as my Black Friday VPS but this one got set up on a better/faster CPU and it seems snappier. Will be setting it up in production and sharing a benchmark later today.

I recommend a deal: I order 6 piece LEB NEW YEAR – 2GB OpenVZ 7 VPS servers, pay for three, pay for the remaining three if the company is up and running in a year. So, if you disappear, I will not lose much money, and you will make some money. Is the deal up?

    First impressions —

    – Support is fast even at late night hours. 11 minute and 7 minute ticket response time (respectively across two different inquiries and questions I had).

    – Network performance is excellent (almost reaching the full 1GBPS)

    – SSH console is responsive and immediate.

    Thanks for the share/find!

Just picked up the VPS special they still have running. I can’t say much it seem everyone covered everything, pros/cons & pretty spot on! So far it’s been a great deal, support is amazingly quick! setup was not even the 10 minutes that they ask for in your welcome email; the VPS was up before I could even save the info and type ssh.

The price you cannot beat, a lot of $5 deals out there but nothing like RN so far… Can’t speak at uptime as it’s only been around 5 hours since it was spun up. So far so good though
    the 2.5GB of RAM isn’t too bad yet, there’s always swap and the arrays not slow for sure! CPU’s 3x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v3 @ 2.60GHZ

Speed isn’t bad seems as advertised I haven’t tried to saturate it yey.

The space I saw someone mentioned as a con, compared to most I’d say it’s average. I personally do not need a lot, of course it would be nice but as long as I can am able to mount external drives I am good.
    9.3E 641G 9.3E 1% /mnt/vol1

Overall a good deal! I’d buy a couple..

Would like to see rDNS working on these, the option is there says [Edit] and add, but when you try to use it says to contact support that it’s not enabled on ‘my ip’ and support was good, but they wanted me to tell them wanted it set at. I don’t want to bother support each time I need it changed.

        • Hi Brian! thank you so much for being patient and providing feedback. We appreciate the business.
Can you email me dustin@racknerd.com with the IP you requested RDNS on manually, I’ll go ahead and make sure that entire CIDR block is fixed. Other ranges should be fine, let me know if it keeps happening as well.

Our goal and implementation of RDNS was a feature meant for customers to benefit from, so let’s make sure that’s happening.

    • Hi Brian, lovely download speeds! Thanks for sharing that benchmark with us.
As for the upload, would love to look into that; could be the remote speed test destination etc. But let’s look at that.

Thank you for doing business with RackNerd, we sincerely appreciate it!

Nice KVM offers :-) Bought one and it was instantly set up. Server seems pretty quick to install stuff but I’ve only had time to install a LAMP stack on it so far…. so that’s about all I have to say for now. Looking forward to it!

We’re actually very interested in doing so! We presently operate 3 Los Angeles locations, Utah, Dallas, NY, Montreal and will soon expand into Amsterdam. We plan on adding our KVM product line to these locations as well.

Out of curiosity, which location interests you?

I ordered a 2GB KVM a week ago, had some connectivity issues in the beginning, they were fixed by support in several minutes.
Since then it’s been 100% uptime till now. Also very nice specs for $21.80/year, I’d happily buy another one if there were more locations in the Netherlands or Germany.

    • Hi dw!
Thank you so much for ordering with us! I’m happy we were able to resolve the issues quickly.

We’re actually working on a Netherlands location. I’ll comment back once it is live.

Thank you so much for the opportunity!

    Dustin,

whats up with the VPS CPU sharing – can racknerd.com guarantee some minimum performance like not less than 10% out of virtual CPU? I’d like to go with cheap VPS instead of dedi for my domains but am afraid of CPU usage spikes(stealing) from shared users. thanks and regards

    • Dmitry, thank you so much for your interest in our services; and that’s a good question! Always best to ask, then figure out later a provider isn’t fit for your needs. The *good news* is that we are the best fit for your needs.

We can guarantee that our nodes our powerful, the performance is amazing and we will have no issue with this. Go ahead and place your order :) We look forward to doing business with you.

Hi, I’d just like to check before I buy: I intend to build a VPS to use as an email relay for my domains, 10-50 emails per day tops. Does this fall within the acceptable use policy or is outgoing email blocked?

    January 21, 2020 @ 2:39 pm | Reply
    • Hello UKBoxer, thank you for considering RackNerd as your new provider. Your use case would be totally fine, we simply don’t want to onboard customers would are purposely sending spam.

Mailing ports are not filtered at all.

Thanks for asking, and we hope to do business with you.

  22. I bought a “2GB KVM” 2 days ago. So far I am happy with the purchase.
Since the VPS does not have pure SSD or NVMe, disk speed is in the range of 120-250 MB/s.
N/W speed is also just okay. Since the price is $21, I will not complain about it.
One can use it as a backup server or can host a website that gets a few 100 visitors/day.

Positive: The support team of RackNerd is damn amazing. They are always (24×7) ready to help you. Hope they will remain the same.

Thank you for considering RackNerd! All of our OpenVZ nodes are 7. However, we are officially sold out of OpenVZ7 (I don’t foresee us offering OpenVZ7 anytime soon) as the demand is towards KVM.

I know you’re after OpenVZ, so let us know your exact requirements and we will put together something special for you on our KVM platform :) Please email sales@racknerd.com

Despite the claim in a reply to a comment above that “we’re more than flexible with our resources”, that was not my experience (Ticket #458217).

I purchased a few of their (2.5G RAM / 35GB SSD) packages from their promo page when they were out of the (2.5G RAM / 40GB SSD) packages, but within 24 hours, their promo page advertised more (2.5G RAM / 40GB SSD) packages (which were advertised on LEB, but the LEB post was quickly removed, the Feb. 17 LET post didn’t get removed though).

I asked if they could upgrade my 35GB HD space to 40GB on two packages and decrease from the 20GB on another package I bought to make up for the increased price of the 40GB packages (which was about $2.30/year each more than the 35GB packages). In other words, out of three packages, increase two of them by 5GB, and decrease a third one by 10GB. A fairly trivial change I’d have guessed, especially since they were brand new and I hadn’t installed anything or used the instances. They could have even swapped the packages I bought for the new sets of packages if it wasn’t technically possible to modify an existing order, or provided refunds (as account credits) so I could order the new packages.

I was told they don’t do modifications like this on promo packages (e.g. LEB offers, or anything from their special promo pages), and that they could refund for an account credit no more than 1 VPS, which wouldn’t have solved my problem since I bought several VPSes. This issue was raised within 24 hours of my initial purchase. So basically I was stuck with the packages I bought, no modications to my VPSes were possible, and practically no refunds, even though I didn’t even use any of these VPSes.

Their return policy is: “No Services rendered by RackNerd.com are eligible for a refund. However, exceptions can be made on special cases.” Good thing to keep in mind for future purchases… I have now become more wary of companies that do not offer a reasonable return policy.

Their ticket response times have been relatively fast.

    • Hi sant0s, Thank you for being our customer – that means a lot to us! We sincerely appreciate the business.

Our support team is usually very quick at responding, many vouch for that. At the moment our team is very busy deploying 15 additional KVM nodes in DTLA, so they’ve been busy setting those up, as well as handling generic ticket load. We are also expanding our support team, and hiring additional talent for that department, as well as our sales department to help with our rapid growth.

If you can give me your ticket number, I can help expedite it (if you haven’t already been helped by the time you get this reply). My email is dustin@racknerd.com
