Recently I came across a provider who’s got some unusual datacenter locations. Often this means they’ve got high prices, but not this time! And it’s a pretty cool company as well. Let’s dive in.
Tier.Net
Having looked at provider website after website after website, there are some things I’ve noticed that mark a good provider. These are not ironclad, but there’s a high correlation. I don’t know the reason per se, but here are some things that I often see on providers that our community likes:
- Pictures of their crew and facilities.
- The story behind the company, where they come from, and how they got to where they are today.
- Tons of info on their datacenters – who the provider is,what the specs are, etc.
- A phone number you can call and talk to an actual person.
- Terms of Service that are easy to read and well laid-out.
Tier.net has all of that, plus great prices! Check these out:
- Get a 4GB VPS with 50GB SSD, 1TB bandwidth, IPv4 and a /64 IPv6 for $8.99/month, or $7.50/month on annual!
- Get a 4-core, 16GB RAM monster VPS with 100TB of disk, 2TB of bandwidth, 4(!) IPv4s + 64 IPv6 for $26.96/month or $24.50/month on annual!
And the datacenter list on these is really interesting:
- Bend (OR)
- Charlotte (NC)
- Ashburn (VA)
- Dallas (TX)
- Latham (upstate NY, near Albany)
- Staten Island (NY)
Some of these are familiar but I’ve never seen an offering in Bend or Albany area, or specifically in Staten Island. We love new and unique geographies!
Tier.net has been around since 2003, which is several lifetimes in this industry. They enjoy a 4.5 rating on TrustPilot.

I was a clien with Tier.net with a dedicated server around 1 year in 2019. Very good service, friendly support. They also have a good price (for server). However their price for VPS, hosting are extremely high more than competitors.
Eh, this doesn’t exist:
Get a 4-core, 16GB RAM monster VPS with 100TB of disk, 2TB of bandwidth, 4(!) IPv4s + 64 IPv6 for $26.96/month or $24.50/month on annual!
Those prices are very high.
