LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

VMBox.co - $5/month or $40/year 2GB OVZ in US or NL - Free Wildcard SSL

vmboxSteven, from VMBox.co, has written us to share this special offer with you that comes with a free Wildcard SSL certificate!

The offer

VMBox.co has a domain that’s two and a half year old. They are a registered business in the UK since March 2014, so they’re heading for their “official” one-year anniversary. This server comes with a free AlphaSSL Wildcard SSL certificate. If you get that SSL certificate within the first three days of service you forfeit your right to a refund. This is to prevent abuse of the free SSL certificates. I don’t have many details on the host nodes, but I do know VMBox.co runs 8 hard drives in RAID10 backed up by an LSI 9271-8i RAID controller with Cachecade. I’ve seen quite some positive reviews on VMBox.co. If you are a current customer or give them a try as a result of this offer, please share your experiences with us in the comments!

Credit/debit cards and PayPal via 2Checkout are accepted payment methods. There’s a no questions asked 3-day refund policy in place, though you’re not entitled to a refund if you use the free Wildcard SSL certificate order. Additional IPv4 addresses are $2/month each; additional IPv6 addresses are free of charge. cPanel is available for $9.95/month. Before you order, please read their Terms of Service.

          • You signed up on the 30th June, how much downtime from 30th June until 21st November where you requested cancellation did you have? Around about an hour, a certain hostnode had a number of issues within the month of November where on one day it kernel panic’d and another it had one or two clients that had inbound DDoS’s.

You requested a refund, due to having an hours outage within a weeks period while this is unacceptable I don’t really feel it requires the full $6.50 refunding as you requested & as you requested an immediate cancellation your service was cancelled then you proceeded to carry out threats such as you’ll post on WHT/LEB and LET and as such you have above

  13. Just for you guys which are opening tickets asking how to apply for SSLs, the information is in the New VPS Information email you get :-)

    However,

Please provide a fully-qualified domain name so for example ‘vmbox.co’ If you’d like a valid card cert it’s going to be ‘*.vmbox.co’

Please include your CSR too and make sure that the FQDN matches the one you give us and also please make sure admin(at)FQDN.tld works for ease of processing.

    Cheers!

Been with this guy for almost a year. Those who say that their service suck are totally wrong. Steven has been extremely accommodating. Even at times when i have actually caused trouble for him because of faults on my part. Once i even had accidentally exceeded my bw limit and he renewed it FOC out of good will.

Those who are complaining must’ve really abused the system beyond forgiveness.

Downtime is next to none unless its maintenance which is like barely once or twice a year. A+ i would say

Okish service, minimal templates ONLY (no exceptions despite the request for a unmodified OS template) ticket response is slow (average around 2-3 hours) tickets half read and responses incorrect.

    6/10 for effort
    8/10 back end hardware

    Good luck to em guess

    • Hi ‘Wulfy’

Within Lowendbox you usually find that more than 90% of the clients would require a minimal OS rather than one that’s full of the standard garbage.

Sorry that you feel 2-3 hours is a slow response time, I agree that the first part of the ticket was mis-read and I did apologize for that.

I’ve had these guys for a day or two now, and I have to say I’m surprised at the level of support and accommodation. The OS templates are minimal, which is what I prefer. I’d much rather add to an installation than have to pull software apart from one. Ticket response time has been pretty quick, especially considering the repetitive questions I have. They also issued a certificate that has worked perfectly thus far. My download speed from the VPS has been pretty decent so far, but all I have really downloaded are software updates and tarballs. Haven’t had a chance to check the upload quite yet but that’ll be the next thing, after my software is configured.

    512MB DDR3 RAM
    1TB Premium Bandwidth
    1Gbps Port
    1 IPv4 Address
    $3/Month
    (or 30$/yr)

    I’m positively surprised.

Just reinstalled it with another distro (it came with CentOS), updated it, and installed some basic software. This thingy is fast! Both system and network.

Except for payment verification everything went very quickly. And I can understand perfectly well that they verify/check payments.
All in all I spent less than 30 min. between ordering it and being on my new VPS via SSH.

If it stays that way I’m a really happy customer.

They are working to open a temporary new node but to be honest I’m praying that the law enforcement return the server unchanged in the next few days.

I have a few backups of some of my websites but a lot of current up-to-date customer data is on that server. The LE really don’t seem to realise the damage they do to legit online businesses by just physically taking a server away.

Although I suppose we should be more angry at the trolls who abuse powerful and fast servers by torrenting TBs of illegal stuff and ruin it for everyone else.

Purchased a server yesterday from VMBox, today it has been down for, at this point, 5 hours! That’s an insane amount of downtime, I can only hope that this is a one off and that it won’t occur again.

Have a few question before I make purchase.

My customers websiite is base on wp and I use a security plugin. The security plugin will constantly email if any intruder try to breach the website. It will also send automated email to the webmaster. Would my vps be block or account terminated.

    Thank you…

I am very happy with this provider. I’m neat to a month now with a 2GB server.

For webs is simply amazing. Runs smoothly and with no hiccups. Unfortunely, the downside is if you need to run, say, icecast with aDJ, sometimes got a little of hiccup. Anyway, seems like we have plenty CPU on quad-core cpu. I had a service CPU-intensive that worked for weeks and never got suspended. I simply love this.

I’m considering to buy 2 more on CA an AZ for other things appart web.

I’m using them for almost a year to host some small pages, I’m pleased with their service.
I would like to have some admin panel that could enable me to install stuff with a few clicks, maybe in the future this will be possible.

I recommend you Kloxo-MR (the fork, not the branch) that has better security and you can integrate softaculous (free -with lesser app choice- or paid) or installatron (free for few installs, paid 2.5 mo each VPS). You can also stop Kloxo-MR to get rid of security issues if you’re afraid, but have my word it’s OK for production servers.

    Future Customers,

I have made a purchase 2 days ago. from VMBOX.CO.

They refuse to issue me a new IP address since it was blacklisted and I request a refund. They did not oblige to the 3 day money back no question ask. I even told them they can charge me for the cpanel month licence and issue a refund for VPS they refuse. And most of the time VMBOX are very rude.

I really hope you read this listing before you make a purchase with them.

    ME:
You have a 3 day No question ask Policy.
    Please follow the policy.
Since I use the cpanel, Fair enough if you charge me for that.
But for the VPS, let me remind you your 3 day Policy.
    Thank you.

    VMBOX not honest
The amount of support you’ve requested has justified your whole year worth of payment already.
It’s self managed, this issue can be resolved by yourself.
The refund is down to our decision.
    Best Regards,
    Ben D.

Hey dear VMBox. I managed to break my set up on my VPS, that’s why I ended up cancelling it. I regretted it shortly after.
I now actually asked if you could open it which should be very simple for you so I don’t need to start a new billing period when I already had time left. Why would it cancel immediately anyways?
Your two worded reply to my ticket shows very bad customer service.
However, I’ll ask one last time if you can be understanding to keep a customer, which obviously will pay next month. If not I’ll just go to HostUS, they are just as cheap and I have been told their customer service is good.

How’s the CPU limit calculated, it says you are allowed only 0.9 usage which concerns me a little on would I get suspended for running e.g a Minecraft / Any other game server on these plans?

So I bought that VPS, Althought I had asked and paid for specific configuration of 6vCPU and 6GB RAM. Ben accepted this offer and setup my VPS with 6 vCPU clocked at 1.4GHz instead of 2.1GHz that they offer. This makes it equal to 4vCPU. I was quite pissed for scamming me quite obviously because I was trying to find a trustworthy hosting company. You guys should watch out and check the VPS specs immediately after purchasing to avoid such bull shit and know whether the host is cheat. Heres a pic of the spec i recieved http://i.imgur.com/mHIJVDN.png

They appear to be using speedstep since the cpu is 2.1ghz from your pic. If the cpu is used it will automatically increase on demand. Speedstep isn’t often enabled on a VM provider, but it’s intent is to reduce power usage.

Try reaching out to them, they’re quite responsive – i’ve used them for a year and they’ve been one of the best providers I’ve had a VM on.

Based on your description and what appears to be a broken caps lock key, it’s likely you were hacked and your VM abused. You are liable for your security of your server.

    Hi Steven,

Couple of questions as I am new to vmbox:

    1. Is it okay if I pay up $5 for the first month and then move to the $40 plan? Will it still be available for me next month?
    2. As I renew with $40 an year, will the wildcard SSL also be renewed?
