LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
10mbit or 100mbit?
it’s usually not that hard to tell (regardless of language) but i spent a few minutes looking around and couldnt figure out the port speed
@Owner please screenshot your unlimited traffic bill with Hetzner, if you can not do that stop posting lies in hope no one will be using much bw, Hetzner charges 6.90 eu per TB and even there colo doesn’t have unlimited ports.
I would AVOID unless owner proves that he was a unlimited pipe deal with Hetzner.
Are you addressing the owner of Netcup.de? He is blogging here so feel free to contact him.
The comment was for the host owner, we already had alvotech.de offer here, what was an awesome “unlimited bw” offer in the first place has been turned into 1TB and then into an awesome speed of 10 mbps. That’s why for me any host who says unlimited is a fraud. Streaming media, mirroring can take 10TB in a week and I doubt a 5euro host will allow you to do that.
Some hosts like virpus who offer 1.6TB simply know you can’t even push that amount with because speeds are hilarious even in US with 50KBs per peer.
hetzner does not offer unlimited traffic on 100mbit/s
Hetzner does, they just dont Advertise it – Colocation Customers can get 95% Billing up to 10G per rack.
They own not only a small dedicated,
they own many racks at hetzner.

148nc12943384973
148nc12943384974
148nc12943384975
148nc12943384976
148nc12943384977
148nc12943384978
148nc12943384979
each gives you the first 3 months free…
This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with
any company of any sort.
* Inability to cancel something via the internet that I was able to
order via the internet. How can I legally enter an agreement over the
internet but not exit an agreement? That is ludicrous.
* 74.5€ in late fees on a 20.97€ bill, for a service that I was
unaware of being subscribed to. I’m a poor student, I don’t have cash
like that laying around. This means I can’t buy course literature in
time for when the courses start.
* The service in it self was not very good. Being artificially limited
to 400KB/s is extremely bad, especially when bandwidth was supposedly
‘free’.
