Argh. Chris from ChicagoVPS has been persisting — more on that later. Basically, their previous OpenVZ offer expired about two weeks ago, and they have some new offers for the LowEndBox readers.
- VPS — Starter (Sign up link)
- 256MB memory
- 10GB storage
- 500GB/month data transfer
- $4.45/month (with promo code OVZstarter), or
$40/year (with promo code OVZstarteryear
- VPS — Standard (Sign up link)
- 512MB memory
- 20GB storage
- 1000GB/month data transfer
- $5.95/month (with promo code OVZstandard), or
$55.00/year (with promo code OVZstandardyear
Yes it is in general $1/month dealer or $5/year more expensive than their previous offer, which makes sense as that was “lowest price ever”. They do seem to have decent reviews from previous posts. Chicago servers with Velocity/Colocrossing.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.

Any example of IP address? Couldn’t find at site.
@uZero, you can check out demo-ovz.chicagovps.net or demo-xen.chicagovps.net. Both are setup on their respective platforms and have the same files and configuration. You can ping and tracert both of them and also test with 50mb, 100mb, and 150mb files.
Thanks,
Jeremiah

@Hughesey
At the moment, no deals for Xen, we just got in some of our parts and upgrades for our Xen servers.
Thanks,
Jeremiah
Have to tell you that my experience with ChicagoVPS has been stellar. I have an Enterprise Xen package with them and couldn’t be happier. My support tickets have been answered very quickly. They act like they really want my business. Yes, I’m paying more than I was before at a Kansas City VPS host that couldn’t answer tickets, but you really do get what you pay for. Very…very happy with them!
Excellent service and support. I signed up the cheapest plan and after paying by pay pal it worked immediately. Ticket support has been answered and solved very quickly. Their quality is higher than the price you pay for it. 100% Recommendable.
@Ed & Jose,
Thank to you both for the wonderful comments!
Jeremiah
Can one buy an extra IP for a price?
