Saw some cheap VPS packages at ViperVPS, which is a new VPS company created in Feb 2009. For $5.95/month, you get
- 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
- 30GB storage
- 300GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/HyperVM
It also advertised “100% Uptime” and “Satisfaction Guaranteed” on their website. The VPS will be in Seattle although their website is hosted with SoftLayer in Dallas. Via this WHT offer.

From the WHT thread, no raid on the node server. Ewww.
I think with all these VPS providers that pop up it’s good practice to keep your own regular backups.
Client-run backup should never be optional. The server might have RAID10 SAS drives, but with all these dodgy providers out there, they might disappear into thin air the next day and you would have lost all your data if there’s no backup.
i have bought one vps from them, just only for testing purposes, not for production box, let see what happen in the next 30 days… :D
SSL certificate issued for depothost.net, an Indonesia-based hosting company…
Don’t go with ViperVPS. They incorrectly set up my VPS and it took them 2 weeks to reply to my ticket and set it up properly. That 2 weeks counted towards my paid 1 month. I had to pay for another service because of this and ViperVPS did not give any refund despite their satisfaction guarantee. The 24 hour response guarantee is a lie as well, it will take days or even weeks to get a reply once they have your money. These people are simply trying to get lots of customers fast so they can sell the business. Don’t waste your money
Looks like ViperVPS’s website no longer exists – domain was not resolvable this morning. Although it’s back now, it’s showing directory listing than an actual website (on a HostLatch server).
FAIL.
