Alex from BHost.net recently emailed in to introduce two new LowEnd plans, along with a special LowEndBox summer coupon.
Iron OpenVZ
| Iron Xen

BHost were last featured in February, but since then they’ve added the Xen virtulization to their product range. Comments on their previous thread were positive. BHost has been around since 2002 and are a registered company in England (4483115).
Their datacenter, RapidSwitch, do not currently support IPv6, however Alex is confident that they’ll have it by the end of the year. Make sure you read their terms, for example IRC services or IRC-related services that connect to EFnet and/or Undernet are prohibited.

Only 64 MB swap, I wonder if you could just add more swap in a file on Xen, or is that a TOS limitation? (But yeah, if your system uses more than 64MB of swap, you are likely doing it wrong).
hello,Game servers are allowed?
Yup, game servers are allowed! See http://www.bhost.net/terms for list of prohibited services.
Using the code LEBJULY12 gives 15% off any of our services, not just the Iron packages. I should add that if you sign up via https://www.bhost.net/openvz and https://www.bhost.net/xen you have the opportunity to pay for a year in advance and get an additional 10% off.
Thanks for introducing XEN, OpenVZ was the only reasons why I never used Bhost before (hate OpenVZ, have my own reasons for that)
Grabbed an “Iron Xen” package, instant setup. Running some tests
Ram usage after fresh installation of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit
CPU make/model (I have two of these cores)
disk space usage
Disk IO (classic test)
Network test
Hope it helps someone
Looks great! Thanks for sharing your test results.
Have been using bHost for 18 months now and they have been pretty rock solid. The occasional network or host node glitch, but nothing that hasn’t been dealt with promptly and efficiently. Support tickets are always answered quickly and the team have always been very helpful even though this is an unmanaged service.
I recently upgraded to the newer platinum package and they let me keep my recurring discount too :)
Currently running a 10 user minecraft server, Teamspeak 3 server for about 30+ friends and a few web sites. No issues as all.
This is OVZ by the way.
Keep up the good work Bhost!
I just read their “Terms and Conditions” and “Acceptable Use Policy” and it just scares me. I am relatively new to hosting and I don’t yet know the proper procedures for maintaining a website such as having an abuse@ and postmaster@ email addresses etc. I primarily use the VPS to host static html pages, like documentation and such.
They mention about “The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 200” and “Computer Misuse Act 199”, Should I read these acts or am I just being paranoid ?
They are pretty much standard across most hosts, give or take. What in particular scares you?
@dg51: BHost are good VPS host provider. I was with them more than a Year but had to cancel because of migrating to a new dedicated server. They are great in their business. Great support, great phone support too… :)
It seems that they have sold out their xen vps already! I was wondering if I could try one of them. Never mind I will try their OpenVZ.. Will definitely post my comments after using it..
We’ll have more Xen available soon – the order link is https://www.bhost.net/order?vt=Xen&period=1&Iron.x=57&Iron.y=22&ips=0
Looks like KVM is sold out. Will it be possible to upgrade OpenVZ to KVM later and keep the offer?
We can’t migrate you from one virtualisation platform to another unfortunately, however you’re welcome to buy OpenVZ and then cancel that service if you buy Xen at a later date…
Just so everyone knows the coupon code LEBJULY12 will continue to work throughout August too!
Just purchase Iron plan. smooth transaction. VPS up within 5 mins. good experience so far :)
The guy that runs the site is a proper cock.
Just a note about this provider, If you have a DoS attack you could end up having your VPS put offline or your account cancelled!
Nowhere do we claim to provide a DoS resilient service to customers at such low prices. A customer receiving a DoS attack is a very rare occurrence, but in such cases we most often null-route the IP of the VPS to prevent the attack from negatively affecting other customers. This is pretty standard practice at these low end prices and again DoS attacks on a customer are a very rare occurrence.
Hi Jim,
Sorry to hear you have been dissatisfied with any element of our service. If you have a specific problem feel free to open a ticket.
Shame to see them out of stock, would of liked to try one of those.
I opened a ticket 4 days ago. Still waiting for a reply!!
Can you let me know the ticket number and I’ll check / chase this?
Please check: Ticket #21129.
Was with them for a while, very satisfied. Unfortunately got canceled due to my faulty proxy configuration. This shows that they do take spam complaints seriously, which is exactly what a good provider should do! :-)
Hi,
it seems Xen VPSs are still sold out. Will be there more in the future?
Thanks!
Hi, please follow us on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/BHostLimited and we’ll Tweet the moment we have more Xen stock… hopefully it won’t be long! Thanks for your interest.
Any chances that “Iron Xen” will be offered again at a special price tag?
