innya sent me a tip today on this new budget VPS provider, ServerWow. They are currently running a 50% off promotion, which can be found on WebhostingChat forum with coupon code 59FD9, which, by the way, is the same as the coupon listed on their website by giving only 15% off. I have just tried the code and it was indeed lifetime 50% off — so their home page was wrong.
Anyway. Their VPS plans start at $5/month, and after the coupon code it’s down to $2.50/month, and you get:
- 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
- 10GB storage
- 100GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
They are operated from BurstNET in Scranton PA. Their domain was only registered for less than 2 weeks so not much historical records. The address in their WHOIS leads to in the middle of no where, although there seems to be a large number of online business registered at that address. There are also some inconsistencies on their website. It uses the terms “dedicated RAM” and “Swap” on their VPS plan page, which somehow hinted that they are using hardware or para-vritualization (instead of just OpenVZ container).
So. Take care when you buy from them :)

ordered one by curiosity. I’ll keep you posted if there’s any trouble.
Asked some information from their site. But no one gets back to me for over 24 hours.
they set the vps I ordered and the rdns request pretty quickly yesterday. I thought to use it as a test-project to outsource a mail server, but the ip I was given has been previously used by spammers and is in several blacklists. it’s is blocked by hotmail, goes in the yahoo junk folder but land in the gmail inbox. my other server’s ip with a better reputation doesn’t lands in the gmail spam folder but goes directly in the yahoo/hotmail inbox. So much for the Gmail spam filter lol. :/
“doesn’t lands in the gmail spam folder” = lands in the […]
sorry didn’t re-read after editing my post :/
ok so now I know why the IP doesn’t go through when I’m sending mails to hotmail addresses.

Thank you for contacting Windows Live Hotmail Domain Support. My name is Marvin and I will be assisting you.
Your IP (66.197.253.xxx) has been blocked because too many Hotmail customers have actively flagged emails from your IP as ‘Junk Mail.’ Please note that this is not a passive filter.

canceling it.
Just to note, looks like the website is dead :P
