Jessica, from RIJX, has sent in some offers for LowEndBox readers. RIJX is a new company, having launched in February 2014. They are a registered business in Australia; you can check their business registration right here. The went all out with the launch getting their own ASN (AS202171) which they claim will help them do blackholes and eventually effective IP null-routing in case of a DDoS attack. All hardware is owned and is configured as followed: dual Intel Xen L5520 CPUs, 72GB RAM, 4x1TB hard drives in RAID10. These servers are colocated with VPLS in Los Angeles, California, USA. They even have their own control panel, of which there are some screenshots when you click ‘Read more’. I have to say, it all sounds pretty impressive. Jessica is not “from” RIJX; Jessica “is” RIJX. Business is registered as a sole trader (i.e. DBA), and strangely not registered for GST (i.e. VAT) which they should collect from Australian customers but apparently do not. From the business side, I wouldn’t spend my money unless I knew the business is more than a mobile hairdresser with a side interest. Technically it might be great – that’s not currently under challenge.
There’s a threshold for GST collection in Australia. Sole traders with small volumes don’t actually need to collect GST last I saw until they reach a certain figure (can’t remember what it is).

OMG. Another VPS provider that sends customers’ passwords in plain text over email! WTH?!
I think it is default action WHMCS takes. If you let them know I’m sure they’ll change it. Probably they didn’t expect WHMCS does it.
I always create my accounts with a temporary passwords for this reason exactly and then change it later.
I’m facepalming when I get a welcome mail that includes my password from any site. As with other services they are probably not even aware, so I’m not going to make a big fuzz about it since, as someone mentioned, it is probably just default in WHMCS.
Apply less tin foil to your hats, please. Nobody cares about your randomly generated password sent in clear text. Other providers started doing random ones and the idiots didn’t write it down so those providers scrapped random passwords.
The thing is.. it’s not randomly generated. I was not told that my password will be sent in clear text over email.
We have adjusted the email template to prevent displaying of the root password, further more – for the passwords we do auto generate, we advise clients to immediately change once logged in.
It’s been several years, and everytime I always see someone complaining about sending passwords in a plain text.
If people are really afraid about their password, why don’t register it with temporary password. And after having the service, reset/change the password to another one. If that still not enough, change it again and again and again…
Or just close the account.
For me, I don’t care about provider sending me the password in what way. I just change it after login, change the WHMCS/billing, change the SolusVM/Proxmox or any panel for managing the server. Change my root password from console then change it again from shell.
Last, change all of those password again every week. I just use my Roboforom for generating those 50 chars password
I assumed he was talking about the WHMCS client password, which the default “Client Signup Email” email template includes. You should still use different passwords for different sites, but many people don’t.
I don’t have an issue IF I’m told _beforehand_ my password will be sent to me in clear text by email.

Ok that’s what I thought, for some reason everyone else including RIJX is talking about root password.
But I confirmed that RIJX has fixed it, removing billing area password from the email template. Sending out the billing area password in email is default WHMCS action unfortunately.
I think you’re just one of those people who always complain for the smallest of details. Usually people like that are people without their own business. We don’t live in a perfect world, learn to complain for what matters not the other way around.
Nice yearly offers, but no longer have the trust to new providers. Prefer to pay more with established hosts, than waste my time while trying to save a few bucks.
We’re not your usual ‘new’ provider, we’ve had nodes shipped in that we have owned for few months now.
We mainly focused on testing our panel to ensure it was safe for launch. Which has been received very well, some great suggestions have been submitted to our dev team already!
We kept the end user in mind with one simple login to use for billing and our custom panel.
I assume the new providers you mean hosts who just rent out from providers, we have our own hardware, switch and ASN.
50% (or 20%, or 80%, depending who you ask) of new businesses fail within the first year.
Someone: It’s 85% within 5 years?
Still, for $5 it can’t hurt to give them a chance.

I noticed the offer states IPv6 is not available, this is a listing mistake.
We do have IPv6 available as single addresses, we are looking to implement a /64 per VM shortly.

Love the control panel.
Not sure about their services but their support team is super active though little rude.
My order was marked as high risk hence canceled
So I created a support ticket and got response within matter of few mins
Order didn’t go through even after opening the support ticket but still I would recommend it because its cheap and support team is really fast :)
Purchased one. Had some initial fears since the control panel was down and the billing page was giving me “bad gateway” messages but it’s working OK now. Got my OS loaded and the whole 9.

A few random notes…
1. Their web site is in serious need of proofreading.
2. These offers include *two* ipv4 addresses… It was a pleasant surprise when I rechecked the offer and discovered that the “extra” IP on my VPS wasn’t a mistake.
3. There is a VNC console but apparently no SSH console.
4. VPS and network seem to be quite snappy at this time.
I purchased 2 of the $5 plans yesterday June 6th and am running simple nameservers on both. The whole process from signing up to deploying is fantastic. I am tempted to move other services including mail servers to RIJX but maybe it’s too soon, nervous to move so much to 1 new provider

Got a bad ping over canada(Quebec), just bought one but I can’t really do what I want with it because of the over 250ms ( Somethimes 400 and up ) . I tried on several location but all the same.
I’m pretty disappointed in RIJX support, or lack thereof. There was an issue with two VMs I had set up – they are NSs and I forgot to disallow recursion. RIJX support blocked udp/53 and tcp/53 at a firewall ahead of the VMs until I fixed the issue. I fixed it an hour after they alerted me to the issue, Jessica verified it was fixed. However, as far as I can tell they did not remove the port block. I’ve emailed them a handful of times over the past few hours with no response. I understand they are an Australian company but if they expect to succeed in markets outside of .au, they need some support engineers on other time schedules to be available. Because DNS for my domains is now firewalled off from the public internet, my domains are only available until caches expire, and then that’s it. This is a bad situation to be in. I guess I should have expected this level of service for $5/yr?
I’d like to amend my previous comment regarding RIJX support; the issue I was complaining about has been addressed as of 5 minutes ago. As I said before, it’s quite possible my expectations are too high for a $5 VPS – my background is with large enterprise 24/7/365 shops. My communication with Jessica and Joshua was productive when we spoke, although problem resolution was delayed due to time zone differences. I will stick with them for the year and see how it goes. Thanks.

Purchased $3/mo plan. So far so good. Nice panel. Though at first, my order considered as fraud but quickly solved by Jessica.
So far I am happy with the service. I bought it two days ago and everything is fine. I went for the $10 a year and everything is fine. My only complain (and truly is not their fault) is that their servers are all the other way across the country. I’m at the east coast and they are at the west cost. Other than that their service so far has been truly good.
Now that I have had the service for about a 3 weeks, I can only say that their servers are really fast and reliable. I installed some scripts to track downtimes and so far i have had none.
