M’barek Dhibi, CEO & Founder, Pawnhoster
Q: Where in the world are you located?
Our infrastructure is currently hosted in Germany.
We chose Germany because it offers excellent connectivity across Europe, modern data center infrastructure, and reliable network performance. It allows us to provide low latency to customers throughout Europe while maintaining the stability and reliability we expect from our hosting platform.
Q: So let’s start with the name. If you say “Pawn” to me I think of chess. What’s up with the name?
It actually comes from chess.
A few years ago I played chess with my brother for the first time. I really enjoyed how every piece has its own purpose. Then one simple idea came to mind: before you can become a King, you first need your pawns.
That inspired me to build what I originally called my “Pawn Businesses.” The idea was to create several technology companies under the same vision, each starting small and growing step by step. PawnHoster became the very first one.
Funny enough, once I started building it, I realized how much work it takes to grow even one business. So instead of trying to build eight companies at once, I decided to put all my energy into making PawnHoster successful first. Looking back, that was definitely the right decision.
Q: So how did you get into the hosting business?
Before PawnHoster, I ran a faceless YouTube channel where I reviewed software, SaaS products, and web hosting companies. I’ve always loved technology, but I never really understood how hosting worked behind the scenes.
This might sound funny now, but I genuinely didn’t know websites were stored on physical servers. I honestly thought everything somehow existed “on the internet.” That curiosity sent me down a rabbit hole. I started learning everything I could: Linux, DNS, databases, shared hosting, virtualization, control panels, and how hosting companies actually operate. The more I learned, the more I wanted to build something myself instead of only reviewing other people’s products.
That’s how PawnHoster started.
Q: It’s refreshing to see someone have a realistic and honest claims on their web site about their customer base. What’s been your growth trajectory so far?
Thank you!
One thing we’ve always wanted to avoid is making unrealistic claims just to impress people. If we have 100 customers, we’ll say we have 100 customers. If we host a few hundred websites, we’ll say that instead of pretending it’s 50,000.
Trust takes years to build and only minutes to lose.
We’ve grown steadily through direct customers, referrals, and community platforms like LowEndTalk. We’re still a small provider, but we’re proud that our growth has come from real customers who chose to stay with us.
For us, honest growth is far more valuable than inflated numbers.
Q: You offer cPanel. Lots of controversy with how Webpros treats its “partners”. You’ve got to be factoring in annual price increases into your plans, and the fact that they’re now offering competing hosting. Are you sticking with that platform for the long run or have you considered competing products?
We understand the concerns around cPanel pricing because we’ve experienced those changes ourselves.
That said, most of our customers already know cPanel very well. They don’t want to spend time learning a completely different control panel unless there’s a good reason. For now, we’re happy with cPanel and continue to build around it.
Of course, we always keep an eye on alternative control panels. If customer needs change in the future, we’re open to adapting, but today cPanel still provides the experience our customers expect.
Q: I understand your next step is VPS hosting.
Our next goal is to launch Cloud VPS Hosting. We want to give developers and businesses an easy way to scale beyond shared hosting while keeping the same focus on simplicity and support.
Rather than launching dozens of VPS plans immediately, we’d rather start with a smaller lineup, learn from customer feedback, and improve from there. I’d rather grow carefully than grow too fast.
Q: Do you offer DDoS protection?
Yes.
Our infrastructure includes network-level DDoS protection provided by our data center, along with firewall rules and continuous monitoring to reduce malicious traffic. Security is something we continue to improve as PawnHoster grows because threats evolve all the time.
Q: What is your company culture like?
The culture is actually very simple.
- Treat people the way you’d want to be treated.
- We try to be honest, transparent, and approachable.
- If we make a mistake, we admit it.
- If something isn’t possible, we’ll explain why instead of making promises we can’t keep.
We also believe support shouldn’t feel robotic. Every customer deserves to talk to a real person who genuinely wants to solve their problem.
Q: Where do you see PawnHoster in a few years?
Running a business has taught me that plans rarely happen exactly the way you imagine.
So today my philosophy is simple: Plan. Work hard. Stay humble. Adapt.
Of course I have goals.
I’d love to see PawnHoster become a respected hosting company known for reliability, honesty, and great customer support. I’d also like to expand into Cloud VPS hosting and continue improving our infrastructure. But more than anything, I hope people recommend PawnHoster because they genuinely had a good experience with us.
I think that’s the best kind of growth any company can achieve.
Q: Anything else you’d like our readers to know?
First, thank you to LowEndBox for the opportunity.
I’d also like to thank everyone who has supported PawnHoster so far, whether you’re a customer, someone who left us feedback, or simply took the time to visit our website. We’re still growing, we’re still learning, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.
If you’re looking for hosting that’s simple, reliable, and backed by real people, we’d be happy to welcome you to PawnHoster.

Don’t trust any hosts that use the Lagom theme 🤢
Thanks for your feedback! Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to design.
We chose Lagom because it provides a clean and familiar experience for our customers, and it’s also used by many well-established hosting providers. That said, we believe the quality of the hosting, reliability, and customer support matter far more than the theme itself.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion.
