LunaNode is a over one year old now, having celebrated their first year in business on the 16th. Congratulations, guys! Their WHOIS information is public. They have registered as a business since the last time we’ve featured them. They’re known as “LunaNode Hosting Inc.” and are registered in British Columbia, Canada. VPS are provisioned in Toronto, Canada in the Cogent DC. Servers have dual L5639 CPUs and 1Gbps uplinks to a switch with a 10Gbps uplink! All services include high availability with automated fail-over. They have a custom control panel used for LunaNode Dynamic which is based on OpenStack. The minimum amount you have to deposit the first time is $12, so there’s no recurring amounts or minimum purchase required after that. There’s a limit of one panel account per customer. They do not have an official refund policy, but generally grant refunds within seventy-two hours for whatever reason, provided the VPS has not been abused. Floating IPs, private networking, and snapshots are available at extra cost. LunaNode explicitly forbids Tor exit nodes, public proxies, and public virtual private networks. They allow Tor relay nodes, private proxies / VPN, adult content. Take some time to go through their Terms of Service.

I’ve been a customer of Lunanode for about 5mo now. I have the 2gb KVM.
Performance is great and no downtime as far as I can recall.
Currently the first 20gb of additional volumes are free (either image storage or detachable volume) so basically you’re getting 20GB extra HDD space for free. After that they charge 4c/GB/Mo … so extra 100GB of storage = 4USD/Mo.
They’ve been prompt when responding to inquiries.
On the downside – although you can specify an ISO when creating a VM, you can’t mount another image after VM creation.
Thanks for the feedback. Note that if you upload an ISO under Images, and then under Volumes tab create a volume from that image (recently added feature), then you can attach the volume to a virtual machine instance and access it.
Terms of service clearly state you are not eligible to use more than 20% of CPU, it means buying 2vCPU you are getting 0.4vCPU.
I do not like the fact that Maarten Kossen misses it from his text.
You can certainly use more than 20% of each virtual core for limited amounts of time. The terms of service line that you are citing is only referring to usages averaging over 20% over extended time periods (12 hours or more).
Note that very few VPS providers allow you to fully use allocated virtual cores; most have policy restrictions like ours, while others actually only give you X% of the core in clock speed to begin with. For example, Digital Ocean will rate limit the virtual core for customers who have high CPU usage, and RamNode does not allow CPU load above 1.0 for extended periods; the exceptions are companies like AbusiveCores who specifically advertise dedicated CPU core allocations. CPU-intensive applications are generally better suited to running on dedicated machines, the virtualization overhead itself makes it not worth it.

If at the time of sign up your IP is “Spamhaus” listed, we can issue a refund or provide you another ip that is not listed.
We don’t have any spamhaus listings.
As for other email blacklists, we will try to get the ip delisted if the steps for delisting are outlined properly, it will be on a best effort basis and no guarantee is provided. The many blacklists out there are governed by their own standards, free of any regulation hence has no obligation to communicate with us in any way. Therefore we cannot be expected to deal with each and every single blacklist that is out there.
I should also mention that we hare firewall rules in place to detect abnormal outgoing smtp traffic. Sending bulk email, whether op’d in or not, is strictly prohibited from our network.
If you find the services unsuitable, you can request a refund within the first seven days of remaining credit on your account; we will grant refund unless you have violated terms of service provisions (e.g., if your actions caused IP to be blacklisted).
Note that bulk mail (whether or not unsolicited) is prohibited on all Luna Node Dynamic services.
I am using LunaNode for over three month now and everything is working fine. I had no downtimes and the speed is great.
I recently had an issue reusing a snapshot from another VM with a new one which was related to software restrictions. I still decided to contact their support if they might have workaround and although it wasn’t really their issue they fixed mine in less than an hour manually. This fast response and effort I wouldn’t have expected from a hoster without an expensive contract, especially in this price range.
This saved me from manually moving everything to the new VM so I am really happy with them.

I’m late to this party, but your ToS do say exactly that:
“LunaNode Hosting Inc. reserves the right to cancel or terminate any service provided, with or without refund, with or without prior notification, and for any or no reason.”.
On the face of it, that does seem a bit steep. Other providers reserve the right to terminate services for breaches of AUP or ToS, but Lunanode wants to be able to do it for any reason.
Yeeup. Fact that he says “Yeah our terms of service doesn’t say that anywhere.” Shows that he’s got no idea what he’s talking about. Period.
Are the servers located in Canada? a simple geo location shows they are in US however the site claims they are in Canada, what gives?
The servers are located in Cogent DC in Toronto, as stated in the offer and on our website.
I have been using LunaNode for a few months now for a few different clients. Very happy with the service/price/features.
One of the IPs was blacklisted at Microsoft so I wasn’t able to get status emails for a day until MS unblocked it. Not a big deal, and nature of the beast.
