Tyler, from HostMyBytes, has sent us their first offer for the LowEndBox community. This offer uses pooled resources for OpenVZ VPS. You can buy one plan and then divide it into multiple VPS instances. And to make this happen, they are also bundling a generous amount of IPv4. I believe that the multiple IPv4 addresses alone makes this offer a real steal. To make it even more attractive, they are bundling a free shared hosting plan with with every 4GB VPS purchase!
These plans are available both in Phoenix with PhoenixNAP and Montreal with OVH. Their Montreal location supports IPv6, in case that feature is very important to you. Their Phoenix location does not support IPv6 yet.
VPS Pool 1.5GB – Kiddie Pool
| VPS Pool 4GB – Olympic Pool
|
The free shared cPanel hosting plan supports 5 Domains and comes with 3GB disk space, 300GB bandwidth, and 1 dedicated IPv4 address. You can choose from these locations: Los Angeles, United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia. I clarified with Tyler and he told me that you can choose a location on per VM basis – which is pretty cool in my opinion.
HostMyBytes started offering VPS services last year (2014). Tyler told us that they have over 1,000 active customers and that they are growing fast. For those interested, their WHOIS information is public. Host node for their Phoenix location has Intel Dual L5639, 72GB RAM, 4 x 1TB drives in RAID-10 and 1000Mbps uplink using gigabit copper. For their Montreal location, host node has Intel Dual Xeon E5, 128GB RAM, 4x 2TB drives in RAID-10 and 1000Mbps uplink with gigabit copper.
HostMyBytes supports payment through PayPal and Bitcoins. They offer a 30-day refund guarantee to all new customers, so it is fairly safe to try their service. An interesting note, their support statistics is shown in their about page. Based from the data, it seems their support is pretty good. Kindly read their Terms of Service, Acceptable Use and Privacy Policy before making any purchase.

Can I get extra IPv4 ?
Please send in a ticket and we’ll be happy to assist – extra IPv4 are offered at $0.75/m
Bastard service provider
World Class buster service provider in the world. I bought some services but they didn’t delivered me and they didn’t refund me. So I request to the world don’t purchase any service from hostmybytes
Guess now OVH get cheaper with KVM :P
Would you please check the offers link as it redirects to a new domain registration
If you’re the customer I think, there was a ticket sent a few hours previously. It has since been fixed.
Can you share what is comet and what happened to the server – 8 days downtime?
Hello,
We had to remove the comet server from our cluster, but it hadn’t been removed from our monitoring. I’ve just removed it now, so all is good :)
Opened a support ticket asking about this offer with HostMyBytes, got a fast, swift response and they answered all of my questions with no issues.
So far so good, I’m a happy customer so far.
I’m really glad to hear that you’re satisfied!
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, feel free to drop them by me — I’m almost always in the ticketing system.
service is good and plans are superb
I noticed your live chat is off in the middle of the day. Is this common? Is support / sales not available during normal business days?
Our support desk is staffed 24/7 (you can give it a try), but live chat is provided only when certain members are available. We are looking to extend the hours of our live chat.
We believe it is better to have live chat on only at certain times than to have you waiting 30 minutes for an operator to respond.
Don’t miss their other offer:
$1 per year for 64 ram and 128 megs of disk.
It is called “IP In The Pool”.
Where is the offer???
We do not have any $1/yr offers. I think you may have us confused with another host.
I think that was a pool joke:
mini size: “I pee in pool”
mid size: Kiddie pool
large: Olympic pool
That wasn’t a pool joke, there really is a plan called IP in the Pool, its at 1.67/mo if you order yearly.

Last one at the bottom.
I stand corrected, apologies :) I actually looked for the plan prior to posting. Thankyou for the link!
Link to that offer please? Seems openvpn would run for that much ram
Just a quick addendum – we also have Jacksonville available as a location on the VPS reseller!

Thanks to everyone who has bought so far!
I placed an order for a “VPS Pool 4GB – Olympic Pool” and it was setup quickly and speed seems good so far.
I was hoping to deploy a VPS in the UK with this plan based on this: “You can choose from these locations: Los Angeles, United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia.” However, my reseller account only allows me to create a VPS in “JAX, AZ, or CA”.
Am I missing something?
Thanks for your order and kind words Nate. The other locations are just for the free cPanel account, not for the VPS reseller. For the VPS reseller, you have JAX, AZ, or CA.
Hey, old man.
I used to consult JAX KVM and Hong Kong Data Center , how are things now ?
Hello! Sorry for the late reply – we’ve been really busy with this offer!
JAX KVM will be coming soon. You can expect an announcement when it comes out.
This vps can run hitleap or jingling ?
Sorry, we do not allow Hitleap on our VPS. I am not familiar with jingling, but it should be fine.
Hey Tyler. A couple of questions: you’re offering VPSes in different location, can I get a test IP for each one of them?
– which ports are open?
– which OSes are available to choose from?
thanks.
Hello,
The IPs for each location are mentioned in the original post, but I’ve copied them here for you:

All ports are open on the VPS, but spam is obviously not allowed.
We have CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora templates on hand. If there’s a separate distro that you’d like, we can get a template for it for you.
If I want more than 4GB ram can I simply buy 2 of these to get 8GB
Yes, you sure can. They can be combined into a larger pool without any problem at all.
I wished they are able to allocate more than 1 CPU cores per VPS. But service and support is awesome! Emails get answered very quickly.
From your reply, can I check the VPS Olympic can be provisioned in CA as in Canada?
Also…
So if you split this package as x4 machines you would get a cPanel for each one?
Thanks for your interest. Let me clear this up the best I can.
Your VPS pool itself doesn’t have a location. You can have one VPS in Montreal, one in Jacksonville, and two in Arizona. You could also just have 4 of them in Canada (or just one big VPS in Canada). It’s up to you.
As for the cPanel licenses, you’d require a cPanel license for each IP address if you choose to split it into four different machines, since they are actually four separate machines. However, you could package it as one large machine with extra IP’s and need only one cPanel license.
I hope this clears things up, but if anything doesn’t make sense, let me know and I’ll be happy to assist.
Never purchase VPS pool from hostmybytes. They will suspend your account without any notice. They will show that your bandwidth is over just after you purchase without using is. And the service of support desk is very poor.
Your VPS was sending DoS attacks and was suspended as a result, which we emailed you about. Further, you initiated a PayPal dispute after the fact.
You claimed we lied about your VPS sending DoS, even though we provided you with the direct information from our datacenter.
Interesting, that’s exactly what happened to me as well, HostMyBytes suspended all VMs and put blacklist on IP claiming that it was used for DDOS (with 40 GB incoming traffic in a month, yeah, right), then changed their story that VMs are consuming too many resources and affecting other VMs (how exactly is that, they were all sitting at loadavg 0.00) and continued to insist VMs were used for DDOS without any proof of it.
This will be my review after using (not using) them for 2 days.
First I must say that 25 minutes resolution time is joke. For sure you will ask why, so I will let you know:
When you try to upgrade vps with resource that you have, panel says something like:
Email is sent to our administrator to upgrade your VPS manually.
Really? I thinked that this will take few minutes but 10 hours later I needed to submit ticket regarding it, and they even didn’t know about what I’m talking. Ok finally solved after few tickets and some more time lost. They didn’t know that they have problem with whmcs module, and they will contact module developer. Funny thing is that you have module in use which is not working.
Opened new ticket, regarding SolusVM login details to be able to setup rDNS. Took few hours to get login detals. Again far away from 25 minutes.
Good now I’m ready to go, but when I try to setup rDNS in SolusVM, it is not working and need to be done manually, so again opened new ticket where I have found out that you can setup rDNS only in one location (OVZ-AZ).. Funny eh? Let’s see more.
I thinked, location is not problem for me, I’m using VPS to have bnc connected to one irc server, I will create VPS in OVZ-AZ… Loged to client portal, but guess what? Another error, Auto select error (No free nodes found in group OVZ-AZ)
After this, a lot of canned responses to tickets, moving and ticket scalations I’m done and asked for refund.
Will see If I will get it, but I will post update for sure.
Just think twice before you order vps from here, as a lot things are not working, and 25 minutes resolution time is just a lie.
What good does a pool do for me if there are “No free nodes found in group…?” FOR ALL LOCATIONS!?!?
Additional nodes are being set up and should be available in a few hours. We couldn’t have predicted the popularity of this LEB offer. You can also contact billing and we will offer you a service credit.
My virtual server suspended without any reason. I didnt get any email before suspend. When i logged to my vps account i saw my 1.5tb bandwidth is over. I tried to contact with support but i don’t get an answer.
I was using avarage 250gb bandwith/month on this wordpress site before moving hostmybytes. I dont recommend this service. Dont waste your time.
I looked up your account, and Swara wanted to know the IP address of the server that was suspended. We did indeed answer you and here is a screenshot of your message and our reply, which was delivered in a timely 30 minutes:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/a0effampm5vlngc/Screenshot%202015-09-23%2019.26.35.png?dl=0
Further, your VPS appears that it had been suspended for causing high loads.
how come vps, at different locations have the ips in serial number, in the same range and subnet.
that too the node names are same…
hahaha
I don’t understand what you are trying to say. We have looking glasses for all of our locations and it is clear that these are separate locations.
Hi Tyler,
Does the cpanel package include mysql and everything needed to run wordpress including php?
Thanks!
Yes cPanel comes once installed with a ready to host setup
Just wanted to confirm – Wulfy is right.
It’s super easy to set up WordPress as we even have Softaculous, which will let you do it in just a few clicks.
Do you allow minecraft server?
Yes, we do. We request that you place your Minecraft server behind a DDoS protected location, just for the stability of your service.
One more question does it which version of PHP is installed with cPanel?
I need php 5.4 and
Is ioncube loader installed?
Thanks!
cpanel comes with multiple versions available you need to use easyapache to build the version you want to run ioncube loader will need to be enabled at the same time
Hi Webber,
We run CloudLinux so you can select the PHP version that you’d like. PHP 5.4 is most certainly in that list.
We also keep IonCube loader installed on our servers, yes.
Thanks!
Hi Tyler,
Is the version listed above CloudLinux or just a regular VPS? Is there a deal for CloudVPS at the moment?
Thanks!
Hello,
The version listed there would be for CloudLinux on our shared hosting servers. If you purchase a VPS, you can very easily install whichever version of IonCube and PHP that you would like.
Our Cloud VPS / Pooled Resource plans are still available, and we’re still offering the LEB discount that was listed here.
Tyler wrote – “Our Cloud VPS / Pooled Resource plans are still available, and we’re still offering the LEB discount that was listed here.”
Hi Tyler,
How much are the Cloud VPS / Pooled Resource Plans with the LEB discount, can you provide me a link with it? Is the one you have listed above VPS Pool 4GB – Olympic Pool?
Thanks!
I can’t create any nodes in Canada (Montreal), which I need for IPv6. Will there be any more IPv6 addresses? I can only create them in JAX.
Doug
Hi Doug,
If you need IPv6 addresses in Montreal, please open a ticket with us and we’ll be happy to get them assigned for you. We have IPv6 support for this location, but we just need to assign the addresses manually.
See also – IPv6 support details:

I have some questionsfor you:
1 do you have windows vps?
2 do you permit file uploads, if i intend to use the vps for a file sharing website
Hello,
1) We do, and they’re offered here: http://hostmybytes.com/kvm-windows-vps-hosting/ (includes license). If you want to bring your own license, you can also just get a KVM VPS from here http://hostmybytes.com/kvm-linux-vps-hosting/
2) We do allow file uploads, yes, as long as there are no copyright issues or legal issues with them. I recommend having a look at our AUP here just to clarify what’s kosher and what’s not. http://hostmybytes.com/acceptable-use/
Thanks!
Tyler
Trying this, just placed order.
Tyler…
Message from unhappy customer. I’m getting the runaround from tech support.
They keep asking me the same questions over and over…. and tell me to ignore the fact that one of my hostnames has lost it’s IP and the MODIFY button doesn’t work.
My account overview says I’m using 2 IPs, however, I can only verify one is being used. Obviously somethings up with the admin panel or somewhere else.
If someone broke into my account (which they have suggested over and over) I doubt they could break the admin panel. Re-creating the server from scratch is not a good option!
Please help!
Warning.
I have had major problems with this company.
I had a server that just disappeared…. and the response is “you’ve been hacked” and “just rebuild the server”.
After a couple of days and tons of emails… and repeating the same details over and over… they finally agree their admin software broke.
They still, however, have not rebuilt the server. They say “here is the backup” rebuild it.
IMHO, they should rebuild the server, since it was their service that took it down.
Nearly a week and no resolution to my server disappearing.
HostMyBytes – The worst ever support
I am sure many users might have been impressed by the – “within 60 minutes response” for support tickets, but that doesn’t add to the ‘Quality’ of support. They must have placed a group of men to simply respond to one’s ticket within the 60 minute deadline & keep the user on hold, until the technical support takes over. Well, that is absolutely fine, as I would see it as a competitive strategy. But they fail in maintaining a sound support team. No complaints here.
But, just by claiming a 24X7 “very active” support doesn’t add a feather to their cap, obviously because their so called technical support team is damn dumb. I have been hosting with them since 8 months now & most of the support members have no knowledge on handling servers. On the contrary, the support members ask you the steps to accomplish the given task! It’s unfortunate that in almost every case that the support is clueless about proceeding ahead with any task.
For instance, I have been asking them to resolve an issue related to their IPs being blacklisted. And guess what? Its been almost a week & I am still tussling around with their support, explaining and guiding them at every step. I wonder the basis on which their support team has been hired!
I hope the day would come soon, where in their support team would comprise of members having a sound knowledge on server management.
They always have disk space issues, as if they are always running out of space & it keeps affecting the clients. Their support keeps pacifying the clients asserting that the issue wouldn’t recur, but trust me it happens all the time. In short, if you’re a client with HostMyBytes, you can’t depend on the thought – “everything would be working fine”. You have to keep monitoring the shit yourself everyday, every minute. God help this provider.

And guess what? After this much of tussle, I am given a link (which goes to Office365 Adminstrators Troubleshooting for blacklist) and asked to go ahead & figure things out myself!
What a shame. They can’t manage to ensure that their IPs are white-listed ones? And even if they are blacklisted, they ask their clients to figure it out & resolve the issue themselves!?
Such a pity!
Just to mention, the link which I was given has nothing to do with my issue – Office365 Administrators Blacklist troubleshoot; I am on Ubuntu. There, they again prove their sound knowledge they got!
A Linux server IP blacklist is assumed solved by the support by giving the client MS Office365 Admins Tool. Pfff.
They always have disk space issues, as if they are always running out of space & it keeps affecting the clients.
