Via this WHT offer. When Michael from DashingHost contacted me last time, the provider was targeting medium-high end users with starting price of $12/month for a 128MB OpenVZ VPS. He offered special discount to LowEndBox readers to reduce that to $6.99. However it appears that they have completely changed the direction — and now are offering their “Starter” VPS for $2.99/month with 3 months prepayment! You get
- 80MB guaranteed/128MB burstable memory
- 2GB storage
- 50GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Servers are still with PacificRack in Los Angeles CA, which is great for Asia/Australia visitors. Low end VPS at this spec is more than capable of running a few websites. Heck. Even LowEndBox.com would fit into this profile (it is using 69MB committed/95MB allocated memory at the moment, less than 1GB space OS included, and ~ 7GB/month of data).

wow, i thought this blog uses at least 512MB or something. But how do you make it load faster?
I set up a WordPress blog with Nginx, it’s really slow even only me who visit the blog. it end up with 502 Bad Gateway since php-fastcgi die, and need to restart the php-fastcgi again and again.
> But how do you make it load faster?
Hmm. Nothing?! I haven’t even attempted to optimize it with those WordPress caching plugins. The CPU sits idle most of the time. Maybe some of you guys can send in more traffic here so I can at least “do something”.
Very simple stack – Nginx, PHP 5.2, MySQL running on Debian 5 32bit. 3x PHP/FastCGI backend max out at around 15-20MB each. VPSLink is pretty stable though. Not quite sure now as they have just been acquired and the new company are moving the servers to Boston.
I’ve had that happen to me a couple of times now. Not a fun experience.
They made a package identical to ramhost’s nano package. That would be fine because ramhost is sold out until they get their new servers up later this year, except for the fact ramhost is sold out because people rush to them as they have a spotless reputation.
Even I am waiting for the opportunity to buy their nano package to test it out, but considering this package is the exact same, I have no reason to switch, they should have made a little bit better.
@LowEndAdmin dear god, endurance bought vpslink!?
@skomes I think the fact that they are LA based would be a benefit for those from the other side of Pacific, where RamHost’s servers are all in Atlanta (which benefits East Coast and European visitors).
@ui Yes. Still waiting to see what the outcome will be. But with VPSLink’s existing stability + Seattle DC, I think it would be hard to beat.
