LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

SSD Nodes - $6.99 OpenVZ 4GB RAM/40GB SSD/4TB BW - in Montreal (OVH)

Matt from SSD Nodes contacted us with a nice offer. We haven’t heard from these guys on LowEndBox since 2011. It’s great to see some older names coming back around. When they last posted here they were hosted in SoftLayer. Times have definitely changed, IBM’s SoftLayer is hardly worth the cost these days in comparison to some of the excellent datacenters out there. Today’s offer comes from OVH’s Canada location. Their nodes are running E5v3 CPUs, 64-128GB of memory, and 4x Intel SSDs in RAID10. Let’s jump to it:

The Offers:

  • LowEndBox Large
  • 4GB RAM
  • 40GB SSD
  • 4x E5 Cores
  • 4TB BW
  • 1x IPv4
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Two more offers they have for us:

  • LowEndBox Small
  • 1GB RAM
  • 10GB SSD
  • 1x E5 Core
  • 1TB BW
  • 1x IPv4
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM
  • $2.99/m or $29/year
  • Order Here

  • LowEndBox Medium
  • 2GB RAM
  • 20GB SSD
  • 2x E5 Cores
  • 2TB BW
  • 1x IPv4
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Unfortunately we’re unable to offer more than 1 IP for these servers. We can offer more on our normal plans, though.

Hi Faheem, We had to add more capacity. I see that you have created your order successfully. If you or anyone else has issues getting set up let me know.

We now support Bitcoin, in addition to PayPal and credit cards. Bitcoin and credit cards are processed through Stripe, so your sensitive payment data is incredibly secure and never stored on our servers.

Yes, as long as it’s legal and doesn’t negatively affect other customers.

Multi vendor ecommerce WordPress? You cannot possibly get enough RAM to feed that. Start with 4GB RAM on an EasyEngine stack.

Ok thanks very much JD. I was actually going to start with 4 gig ram. I was going to get the special offer listed above and maybe get the server guys to make it 8 gig ram for extra cost. I’m in Toronto so the servers being based in Montreal would be great.

I was wondering what the fair usage (I’m assuming you have one) and other things such as what software I can run, is. For examples, with 4 cores and 4GB of ram, am I allowed to run a minecraft, or other game server? Do you allow bittorrent sync (not looking to use as a seed box), and what kind of cpu usage restrictions do you have? Thank you!

We don’t have any restrictions on what you can run on the server, but of course we ask that you be mindful that it is a shared resource. If there’s anything running that is disrupting other customers, then we’ll reach out to you to see if we can find a better solution for your needs. In the worst case, we’ll temporarily throttle the CPU for that container (this is very rare). Let me know if you need any clarification at all.

I see thank you! I totally understand that I shouldn’t be pegging all the resources at 100%, It’s just that a few services that offer VPS’s at really cheap rates/resources they add restrictions. I’ll likely switch to this from DO.

    Hi,

Do the VPSs have a public and private IP?
I want to create multiple VMs and setup them in the same local network (ex web and DB servers).

Another question, do you have any high availability setup in your virtualization infrastructure? In case of a hardware issue in the physical node?

    Thank you

I’m thinking about VPS for my Node.js app. Does it make sense to buy Large LEB for this? My app needs fast CPU but as far as I know Node.js uses only one thread. So maybe for Node.js app there is no difference between Small and Large LEB?
