BuyVM has been a fixture in the LowEnd community since…man, it goes back a long way.
I remember getting up at 2am because that’s when Fran released stock and if you wanted a $15/year 128MB VPS, that was the only way to get one. I believe BuyVM was the originator of that $15/year price point. Times have changed and you can get more for $15 now but they were a pioneer.
They’ve also grown their offerings
- DDoS protection: not the usual OVH stuff but their own chosen provider, and they offer GRE and IPIP tunneling
- Offloaded SQL: Instead of consuming your own VPS resources, run your DB on a centralized server
- Anycast routing
- Storage “slabs”: their term for portable block storage
- Free DirectAdmin, Blesta, and Softaculous
BuyVM’s main offering these day are their “slices” which are KVM VPSes:
- 512MB Memory for $2/mo or $20/year!
- 1GB is $3.50/month
- 2GB is $7.00/month
- 4GB is $15/month and from this point up, you’re getting dedicated CPU
- Order Now
All of these come with unmetered bandwidth and service is available in New York, Las Vegas, Miami, and Luxemburg.
BuyVM has never chased the lowest price, but has always been within spitting distance of it. They step every so slightly upscale to offer you a larger array of services and in return, you get fewer headaches and more toys to play with.

Paid for a 1GB Slice in NY yesterday. Woke up and still don’t have access even though payment cleared. No answer from support either. A bit of a disappointment and might end up having to open a PayPal dispute. I’ve never had to wait so long for access after payment and the lack of communication is concerning. Time is money!
