Admin at CocoaHost emailed me asking to have their low end package listed. It took me a while to find it on their website as you’ll only see the spec when you click though the ordering process. For $5.95/month you get
- 64MB memory
- 10GB storage
- 40GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ
The servers are with iWeb in Montreal Canada. Domain was registered over a year ago. Looks like a smallish company but has many “departments” according to its About Us page. It even has a blog with full of copy ‘n’ paste articles without attribution.

It’s not 6 dollars a month, it’s 6 USD per 3-months. You really should start reading, not the first time you’ve made pretty big errors.
Hmm, 6 USD per 3-months is for web hosting…
@Charlie
Thats not what their website says. $5.99 USD a month. Maybe you should read better if you’re going to make comments like that

what an ugly website. I contacted whcms when i checked their domain for a whmcs license because it was unbranded. DO NOT BUY, most likely a fly by night.
If you have not found it, this is the $5.99/month virtual server on their site. Sorry it was still a mistake — it should be $5.99 rather than $5.95 (4 cents off).
david, show some of your pretty website. i don’t see $6 for shared hosting.
why john? i’m not selling anything on my website that I want to sell to you.
Four cents? I guess you’ll be committing Seppuku soon.
Gotta admit though that if they’re stealing content for their blog, I wouldn’t be listing them but that’s just me. If they get their site ToSed by the datacenter, that would put endusers’ VPSes at risk as well.
I note that the blog’s IP address is 209.59.177.87 which is assigned to Liquid Web. Not sure what their policies are concerning something like this. Sure hope no one drops their abuse address an email with a link to this discussion. (I’ve got better things to do plus I would send in proof of where things got copied from.)
@drmike — I am not in US but don’t the copyright holder of the content need to send in the DMCA to get the up stream provider to pull the offending content?
Probably. A perfect example of this is when you click on the Report to Adsense link, the only real option is “The site is hosting or distributing my copyrighted content, without my permission.” so it;s probably the copyright holder who has to do the reporting.
But if I have a third party report in front of me of copy and paste abuse (or warez or porn on a family friendly only site or…) and it’s rather rampant, I’d pull the site. The host or datacenter would be covered with their AUP as most prohibit copyright violations. And even if they didn’t, most ToS’es will cover as hosting is provided AS-IS and there’s a clause in there that you can be terminated for any reason. At least with most AUP/ToS’es that I’ve seen. Although that’s clearly not the opinion of some hosts. (Disclaimer: None of those sites are mine.)
I was questioning though as to why list them if they seem to be untrustworthy.
Went to try the free trial, but get a certificate error. They do not have a certificate from any trusted authority, or it has been tampered with. Either way my trust ends there
Fix it please, the site looks promising. Nice speeds
