Tags: , , , Date/Time: January 22, 2020 @ 7:00 am, by Frank Williams

Hostmem has customized a small RAM VPS for clients who do not need many resources and that will save them tons of money in the long run. They submitted this to us, so we are passing it along to you. This VPS Plan starts at just $12.99 a year.

Their WHOIS is public and you can find their ToS/Legal Docs here. They accept VISA, MASTER, AMX, Unionpay, Alipay and Wechatpay as payment methods.

As always we’re interested in hearing your feedback so feel free to comment in the comments section below.

Here’s what they had to say about their company:

“Hostmem.com is a new web hosting provider which is designated to provide reliable web hosting environment to small and medium size users. Our projected client numbers will be kept between 500 and 700 users to ensure we have enough resources to accommodate all users. We introduce self-developed control panel DuduVM as our backend user interface. We specifically designed this interface that allows clients to pay for what they use and they can adjust resources as needed.”

    Nice offer, good performance.
The bandwidth to China seems enough till now.

All of the payment/invoicing pages are in Chinese, even when you’ve selected english. Makes ordering/finalizing a setup a bit difficult.

I signed up for an account because I thought the pricing was really good, but it seems like you really get what you paid for with this service.

As others have mentioned, most of the site UI is in Chinese so if you do not read Chinese, navigation is very difficult. I was able to overlook this fact since the company is based out of China and their main target consumer base is probably Chinese folks.

However, the VPS also goes offline CONSTANTLY and at completely random times. It will simply disconnect all your SSH sessions, stop responding to pings, and all packets on all ports will be refused.

This happens so frequently, multiple times a day. I noticed that on several occasions that this happened THE ENTIRE HOSTMEM.COM website went offline. I was getting an error message from Cloudflare all day yesterday reporting that Hostmem’s web servers couldn’t be reached.

It seems like they are running a really shoddy VPS service essentially just re-selling hosting from Quadranet only you get no reliability and you have your servers go offline every other hour every day.

When the VPS goes offline (and sometimes all of hostmem.com with it), it sometimes does not come back online for 15 to 30 minutes or longer. Major dealbreaker for most people, including me.
