Nixism – $5 128MB OpenVZ VPS

Tags: , , Date/Time: July 18, 2009 @ 9:36 am, by LowEndAdmin

Update Sep 2010 — Nixism ceases to resolve after 23 September. Looks like HostDime has terminated this domain, while the previous owner moved onto HostMonkey.

Update Oct 2009 — Looks like HostDime has acquired Nixism. End of story for them.

Nixism Via this WHT offer. Nixism — a 3 year old web hosting company (pretty good in this end of market) — is offering WHT visitors an OpenVZ VPS plan for only $5/month.

  • 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer
  • 2 IP addresses
  • CentOS/Debian/Gentoo/Fedora Core/Ubuntu/OpenSUSE

Servers are in Los Angeles CA. You have to use the order link in the WHT offer as it is not available on their VPS offering page. Looks like 128MB is the new 64MB now as most recent offerings at our target range are all having at least 128MB, which is a lot more liveable than 64MB even in 64bit mode.

The original owner of LowEndBox known as "LowEndAdmin" or "LEA" for short founded LowEndBox in 2008 and created the concept of hosting applications on low resource "Low End Boxes". After creating the roots of the community that we know today, "LEA" stepped aside and allowed others to carry the torch forward.

Signed up; getting pretty slow traffic speeds. Not recommended.
