it will be better if a little more bandwith !
if not, i hope additional bandwith are not too expensive.
Heh, CC only and VAT applied to non EU.. than fraud checking madness starts..
great offer, however the “You may be asked for Photo ID ” is a huge put off. i don’t trust hosting companies with this sort of info.
Just like hosting companies don’t trust you with their services.
they do though :).
Would you rather a portion of your photo ID, or your credit card information? Your choice.
I would rather not have any host have anything else than my money.
@Cakey, they do that to actually knew that it is *your* money, not someones else.
I’d give my ID to vouch for you.
I have my five years old netbook with the same specs..lol.. :)
Colocated within an UK datacenter with redundant fiber and 99.9% SLA?
Ha, good work sir.
Hmm.. why my response removed? Dishonest :(
It was a pointless comment, although I’ve no idea why it got removed – it wasn’t offensive, just useless.
Damn, are you in touch with PH or affiliate? Stupid..
Don’t be rude, your comment ‘I prefer home servers, all under my control’ of whatever it was is of no value to anyone looking to purchase a server, and was therefore useless.
I’ve got nothing to do with PoundHost, and I’m quite sick of people saying that to anyone who opposes their point of view. It’s a very immature approach to a debate.
Its only joke, dude :) Relax, kick your shoes, be sure PH offer your first month for free..
Yes of course it was a joke. Clearly so. Hilarious one too, I’m still laughing now.
I grabbed a server from PoundHost from their last deal here on LEB. After not paying to renew the server for another month, they threatened to send me to a collections agency over 20 EUR. I paid the 20 EUR and then found out they already disconnected my server. I should not of paid the 20 EUR and instead seen how much trouble they would go through to get it back (considering I live in a different country than them and it’s only 20 EUR).
Sorry, 20 GBP. Not 20 EUR.
Did you cancel or just not pay? Because their terms are quite clear that you need to cancel 2 days in advance, and if you don’t, you’ll be charged for next month.
Well, hopefully others will take this into consideration before ordering from PoundHost and know that if they decide to cancel their server, they need to do it 2 days before the due date. It’s a scam that they do this if you ask me (considering its for a service), unlike if it was for some physical item (like a car). If I am renting out a dedicated server and the client didn’t renew, I would just disconnect the server. I’m not going to try and ruin their credit rating over it.
It’s also evident by PoundHost charging VAT to everyone (regardless of what country they’re in), that PoundHost wants to squeeze every penny they can out of their customers.
How is that a scam you donut? Tons of other companies do the same thing for services. You have to give notice on practically everything, like cable, phone contracts etc, and it’s a lot more than 2 days.
I’m sure the VAT thing is easily remedied by a ticket if you’re outside of the EU.
That would be you scamming actually if you don’t cancel your server and don’t want to pay.
Nearly every company do it that way. If you don’t want your services anymore – go on and cancel them. Otherwise your are on a term and are obligated to pay for the services provided until you cancel.
Well said good Sir. Careful though, the wombles will accuse you of working for PoundHost now for daring to disagree with them…
People like you are a fing disgrace to this industry if you run a business like this and do business like this, you need to get away from the industry
I want to sign up if VAT will be removed. I am in US. Tax not removed after filling in my address and clicking update to recalculate.
Why are you so rude on this offer? Your activity efficiently discouraging me to give a try this host, really. Read about Public Relations (do not treat is as attack, just an advice). Cheers.
@The Ninja
I don’t work for PoundHost you muppet. I’m just addressing the absolute tools who post here about ‘scams’ and complaining about utterly useless posts being removed. If my comments are putting you off buying, go and sit in the shed with the rest of the spanners.
I’m going to post like this in every thread now and see if everyone else is stupid enough to believe I work for a host simply for defending their practices against muppets.
No feedback from anyone about how good/bad the servers are, just a load of bickering? I was with PoundHost 5 years ago and they weren’t great (IP routing went wrong), but if these are better/more powerful than a VPS am interested to try..!
I picked up a dedicated server from PH in the December promotion on here and it has been rock solid, I’ve had a few dedicated servers over the last 10 years and this has been the most reliable by a long way. I don’t work for them, I’m just a happy customer reporting back.
I picked up a dedicated server in this promotion and i got this invoice lurking in my mailbox even though my monthly bandwidth usage is less than 50GB.

I usually don’t read my mail closely but i had some time today and was going through my mails and came across this. If i hadn’t taken the time to read my mail, they would have scammed me out of 20GBP.
It may have been a mistake but i wouldn’t trust a company where this type of billing mistakes happen.
Also i raised the issue with their support a couple of hours back and they still haven’t responded.
I got a server from these guys and I am quite pleased with it. They asked for photo verification which I gave them and the server was setup in a couple of hours. That’s the first time I moved to a dedicated server from VPSes and the difference is huge. At last consistent IO performance!
In the past I was using YardVPS till they started having very low performance. Then I moved to ChicagoVPS which was amazing for a long time but during the past year or two they are taking a downfall in my opinion.
I know this is a true testament to belatedness and I’m going to say it anyway.
I’ve been with PoundHost for coming on 2 years now. Got a dedi from them when they were offering the HP’s with 2GB and dual core etc…
Have had solid reliable service. They physically moved the server in the first year to Reading or Maidstone, can’t remember. That went fine, no worries.
I was allocated more IP’s on request. I was able to purchase more RAM too.
When I locked myself out once they provided a virtualKVM so I could regain control as though physically being there.
I (also;referencing an above post) got a punctual invoice for 300 pounds for going over my bandwidth allowance by something like 20TB. Being a good Sysadmin I keep logs. I didn’t need to supply logs, when I brought my question to Technical they said it was an error and wiped it no worries.
Finally, I have paid a day late on one of my services with no consequence.
PoundHost have been nothing but a good experience for me and I’ve found all of the support team to be helpful, Some of whom have gone beyond the call of duty to be helpful.
Of course, I treat them as I like to be treated.
Hopefully a surfer finds this comment constructive.
