RackNerd Chinese New Year 2021 Specials - KVM VPS from $13.99/year - FREE Red Envelope Credits!

RackNerd submitted their lunar new year specials to us recently, and we felt this was an interesting one to share as they are giving away red envelopes (credits), which we thought was quite creative! RackNerd was also recently voted by the community as the #1 top provider – we certainly appreciate their devotion and commitment to the community, and for continuing to share deals with us, while maintaining an excellent reputation for providing commendable service.

All plans are instantly set up after payment. Their WHOIS is public and you can find their ToS/Legal Docs on their website. RackNerd is a registered business, with real office space (you can view their office photos here). They accept PayPal, Credit Cards, Alipay, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum, USDT, UnionPay, iDEAL, India NetBanking, India UPI, and Boleto as payment methods.

Here’s more details about RackNerd’s Red Envelope event, and how it works:

RackNerd is pleased to announce our Red Envelope event, in celebration of Chinese New Year! Our development team has devoted a significant amount of time (and consumed a lot of coffee in the process of doing so) to develop this proprietary system, so we hope you enjoy!

No matter where you are from, anyone can participate in this creative & fun event and win some free credits towards a new VPS order! On any of the below promotions listed on this post — upon finishing the order and navigating to the invoice for the order, you will be greeted with a screen that looks like this:

From there, you’ll want to choose the envelope of your choice, and then you will see how much you’ve received! The amount you’re given is completely random by the computer, and will be applied as a credit against your order’s invoice.

  2. No IPv6 for these locations, I’m guessing?

    February 24, 2021 @ 12:10 am | Reply
    • Hi Szarka, thank you for asking.

On these particular plans, by default, we don’t offer native IPv6 – though if native IPv6 is a must, we can provide you with the latest promotions available in Los Angeles where we do provide native IPv6. If native IPv6 isn’t a must, you would be able to deploy tunneled IPv6 as an alternative for free, utilizing tunnelbroker.net for example.

I’d also like to mention that IPv6 is premature from what we’ve seen in our years of experience. There isn’t much demand for it, not many deploy it. And we’ve seen this across virtualized product lines, including private bare metal product lines. There’s still plenty of IPv4, despite the years of “IPv4 is depleted” claims.

can I set up a minecraft server for me and my few friends on a vps? think the 2 gb plan is ok for that?

    • Cybervang:

Nah, I got a 4 cpu, 6 gb ram and it’s barely making it on ticks. Don’t think so. Minecraft on these budget vps are no go.

      • Hi Cybervang – we appreciate you being a customer — we work extremely hard to deliver a reliable service you can count on, and utilize. If you don’t mind reaching out via ticket, and sharing your ticket number here I can take a look at any performance issues you may be seeing.

    • Hello bryan — thank you for your interest in RackNerd — you can utilize the VM for Minecraft, not an issue.

You would be very surprised what these red envelope’s can give you! Awesome savings throughout the year! These Lunar New Year offers are as good as their xmas and new year deals, if not better (yes, I pay attention =))! Try one of their plans, you will be amazed by the speed of the VPS and the prompt customer service when called.

Los Angeles, or San Jose would be the best location to choose for Vietnam.

Long time stalker, frequent buyer, 2nd year racknerd customer here. Last year racknerd posted a new year special here and I jumped on the 2.5 kvm for real cheap for a year. Ran a cpanel server there for the past year and and a month. Not a lot of traffic. A few small sites.

Its not my primary server, but I use it for various things outside of hosting sites as well. I’ve never noticed any downtime, or any excessive maladroitness.

Came back today looking for another LEB KVM and who do i see first. Im considering buying the 3GB KVM listed here (about to compare with other sites though). If i cant find anything significantly better spec’d to take a chance on. I’ll be buying another racknerd KVM for the year.

As far as support, I’ve only ever needed to submit one ticket. They helped me within a matter of an hour or so.

I’d say 4.5/5 when compared to the other LEB VPS’s I’ve had. Probably the only one I’ve ever renewed.

    February 25, 2021 @ 11:21 pm | Reply
    • Hello – thank you for your interest. At this time we do not allow customers to license their own Windows Install (it violates Microsoft SPLA) though if you’re interested in high performance Windows VPS we can offer these, fully licensed. These are based on Ryzen 3900X processors and Enterprise Intel NVMe.

Hi, how long will the Chinese New Year promotion be available?

    March 1, 2021 @ 2:47 pm | Reply
    • Hi Fred, while there isn’t a set expiration date, we anticipate the sale to be ending soon – we monitor inventory closely, and also do our best to fulfill what we can based on the current demand. Though since the Chinese New Year is essentially over, we may be ending it soon. Be sure to grab one while you can.

Thanks Dustin for the promo and the RED envelope…
Now I got to set up more VPSs…

(HAPPY I took the previous promo even thought I did not win the PI – lol!)
Even though I do not put a lot of load… (yet) these are good stable performers –
THUS FAR RACKNERD beats all of the providers I have found here over the years…

Next promo you will replace my aging OVZ6 machines which are being phased out by another provider who is no longer interested in the little VPS’s …
stay safe and keep them running…

  16. hi,
    Do you accept rDNS?

    March 13, 2021 @ 9:46 am | Reply
    • Hello – absolutely!

New and future RackNerd customers will also have this feature included standard.

RackNerd’s NEW FEATURE: You are now able to set rDNS (also known as PTR) records for your VPS IP addresses without needing to open a support ticket!

Step #1: Log into our VPS Control Panel. If you do not have this login information, you will find this within your welcome email.

Step #2: Once logged in, select “Manage” on your VPS.

Step #3: Click on the tab which reads “Network“.

Step #4: Next to the IP address you want to edit the rDNS record for, click on “[Edit]“

Step #5: Enter your desired rDNS entry, and ensure you have a valid A record for it before clicking on “Update”. After updating, please allow up to 24-72 hours for global DNS propagation.

If you find that the range you’ve been provided doesn’t have rDNS delegated, just get in touch via ticket and we’ll help. We’re here 24×7.

Bug – cannot click on three envolopes at once

    March 19, 2021 @ 8:44 am | Reply
    • Hi Emanuel Chavez — thank you for pointing this out. The design/development is intended to allow one envelope (of your choice) to be selected, after selecting one a random discount will automatically be applied to that order/invoice. Otherwise selecting/revealing each discount despite them being random will defeat the purpose.
