Virpus-Cheap_VPS_-_SSD_Linux_VPS_and_SSD_Windows_VPS_Hosting_&_Xen_VPS_-_Virpus.com_-_2014-12-26_14.56.43Kenneth, from Virpus, has sent in this special offer for 25% off their VPS offering (with the exception of the base plan). The plan listed below is the only plan, with the exception of the base plan, that falls within the LowEnd pricing limits.

The offer

  • 1024MB RAM
  • 2048MB Swap
  • 4 CPU cores
  • 30GB SSD space
  • 3TB transfer
  • 1Gbps uplink
  • 1x IPv4
  • XenPV/SolusVM
  • Coupon: 25LIFE-122014
  • $5.25/month
  • Order here

Virpus is part of Wow Technologies, Inc. which is an established company. According to Kenneth, their customers include Microsoft, Moz, Vulcan, and Rosetta Stone. They have been in the VPS business since 2006. All servers will be deployed in their Seattle, WA locations. More information about that may be found here. All nodes have at least dual Intel Xeon CPUs with SSDs in hardware RAID10 and up to 2Gbps uplinks in a redundant setup: sounds like a serious setup! Reviews on their last offer, which was December 2012 (so two years ago) were actually not that good. It seems that was still in Kansas city and from what I can tell, they’ve been purchased by Wow Technologies later. I’m looking forward to hear from current customers to see how they are doing now.

PayPal, Credit Card, Bitcoun, and Mail In Payment are all accepted payment methods. Virpus offers a 99.9% uptime SLA and instant activation (given no fraud check trigger something, I guess). For all the details on what is and what is not allowed, please read their Terms of Service!

I had a VPS with them some years before. The server was fast at the beginning, and then slower and slower until I decide to throw it away and wait for its expiration.

Stay away from them, this company is radioactive shit. My VPS with them back on 2011 was always lagged, horrible connection and many times down.

  12. Hello,

Much as changed since the acquisition. Majority of the negative comments stem back from our OpenVZ days, which I will admit that the nodes were not spec’d the way they should have been. We used a mix of desktop and E3 Xeon’s with single drives or RAID 1 depending on the machine.

Since our Xen offerings started up a few years ago, much of any performance issues have ceased, especially with the introduction of our SSD line up.

We currently are offering a $1 signup bonus where you can signup for an plan up to our 4G plan and have your first month at only $1. I encourage you to use it and see what type of performance to expect. There’s no risk :)

    Thanks,

    Ken

I don’t think that’s true. It’s just that you have to do it in their control panel. That said, when I purchased the VPS CentOS7 wasn’t available as an option. But it seems available in their control panel.

  15. Virpus is the worst I have experienced. I just read Ken’s message and I am still not impressed nor sympathetic regarding his excuse for bad OpenVZ performance. Simplyput, he has lied about previous specs regarding raid if he says now that he was using single drives since he always claimed to have redundancy.

If you want to lose your data or be lied to, choose virpus. Thats the only thing they are good at.

    • Hello,

We have NEVER advertised something that we did not offer. It is illegal and false advertising. With regard to any aspect of our service, you can always use internet archives to review our site as it was in 2012, since that is the period in which you last had service with us.

In 2012, the only mention of redundancy was related to our cloud product, which you never had, or our network, and I’m not sure how you could translate network redundancy with RAID.

    How much is the cost?

  18. We are collectively experiencing packetloss with this service, wrote a ticket but figured i’d mention it here too just in case. I hope they can get this resolved since we all have a nice latency to this service BUT packetloss is a big no-no in this business.
