Jonathan from Evorack sent me another email a few days ago to renew their special promotion to LowEndBox.com readers. Same offer as last time, but with updated promo code LowEndBox2011 to get the discount at checkout. Final cost for their VPS128 plan is now £2.49/month (~USD$4). Direct sign up link here.
- 128MB memory
- 20GB storage
150GB250GB/month data transfer- Xen
UK based servers (test IP: 109.200.19.115). North Ireland company that has been around since 2004, which one readers here confirmed that is a well known company there. There seems to be quite a few orders when the offer first came out in September last year, but very little response and reviews on the actual service.

I tried Evorack, very good service and uptime. The only downfall I felt was that it does not have SolusVM and I have to place a ticket to have it reinstalled (although support time was great).
Like I said, the only con I see in this offer and the company is non-availability of SolusVM
Hi Mr Zeeshan,
Thank you for the nice review of our service. Indeed, we take pride in helping our customers with a speedy response.
We do have a control panel which allows our customers to start and stop their VPS, as well as view the “out-of-band” console.
As you say, at the current time we have to perform re-imaging manually, however we don’t hang around and aim to provide a very quick service. We do have plans to script in automatic re-imaging though.
Thanks
Jonny
Do you allow openvpn?
Provided it’s for legal use, then yes, that’s no problem.
Thanks
Jonny
Don’t see Debian 6.0 when choosing OS? Non-EU customers have to pay VAT tax?
Hi There,
We will be supporting Debian 6.0 within the next few hours. I just need to create an image but I’ll get right on that. No, Non-EU customer do not have to pay UK VAT. Please let me know which country you are from and I’ll see if there is an error in the config.
Thanks
Jonny
Im also interested in Debian 6. Are there any plans to make that available anytime soon?
Yep, within the next few hours we’ll have Debian 6 for you guys
Thanks
Jonny
Hello Jonathan,
Do you provide custom plans? I need a bit more disk space and bandwidth on the VPS128 plan.
I’m sure we can work something out. Please send your requirements to presales@evorack.com or you can open a ticket from the Evorack website.
Thanks
Jonny
Hi Everyone,
Debian Squeeze 6.0 is now available to order
Thanks
Jonny
I ordered one of these last night and so far I am very impressed. I’m running Debian 6. It took only about 5 minutes from the time I paid for it with Paypal for me to get the email with the login information. You can even specify an iptables configuration during the sign up (which I didn’t) which is a nice feature.
So far it seems quite good. I’m still setting it up, but after locking it down with iptables I set up lighttpd + php5, webmin, screen, irssi (+ nullidentd), fail2ban. Using just over 50mb of memory according to webmin. Performance is pretty good. I’m in Australia and the latency is only about 300ms, which is perfectly fine for my needs and a lot better than some VPS providers that I’ve seen. The pipe coming in and out of this thing seems more than capable too. I’ve not run any real tests on it though, specifically relating to disk i/o etc but it certainly doesn’t feel oversold.
The only downside I’ve found so far is that they don’t offer SolusVM. It would be a nice touch (*hint hint*), but so far my dealings with the staff have been quick and very pleasant. That’s my only gripe with it really, but if you’re not distro hopping and careful about what you’re doing it shouldn’t be a problem – and if you do brick the box somehow the support people seem more than willing to help. You can start and stop the VM by sshing into a box, that’s all explained in the welcome email, which seems a fairly efficient way of doing things. But the lack of instant OS reloads is really the only downside.
Would definitely recommend this provider so far (if I had to rate them out of 5, I’d give them a 4.5)- and a big kudos to Jonny for his help with my pre-sales questions!
Hi There,
Thanks for the nice review :)
Don’t worry, we’re going to try and script in automatic reimaging into our control panel very soon.
Just to let everyone know, we offer a 10-day money back guarantee if you are unhappy with our service for any reason. This is more than what EU law requires (which is 7 days).
There is also no minimum term contract, so you can cancel at anytime.
Cheers
Jonny
Realy great support/service from this company so far. Keep it up!, Shame about the Small Bandwidth Allocation though.
Thanks for the nice review :)
We’ve also upped the bandwidth from 150GB/month to 250GB/month on our VPS128 plan
Cheers
Jonny
Hi Everyone,
Just to let everyone know that Fedora 14 is now available to order from Evorack
Cheers
Jonny
It’s nice pre-sales, Johnny. Make a try today.
You’re very welcome :)
Whenever you’re ready, feel free to place an order
Cheers
Jonny
I’ve got MaxMind error. My country’s IP’s are all blacklisted.
Made a second try, got error too. ;)
It seems today is holiday
Hi there,
We are still processing orders today. It just takes a bit longer to process orders flagged by MaxMind
Thanks
Jonny
Done, thanks
Is this Xen HVM or PV? I assume at this price point its PV. If it was HVM and the discount applied to all plans I would be all over this.
Hi Craig,
This is for Xen PV and yes, the discount code does indeed apply to all of our plans :)
Cheers,
Jonny
Hi Everyone,
Just to let everyone know, Trixbox is now available to order through Evorack. Trixbox is an Asterisk-based SIP PBX which is ideal for a small home or office PBX systems. This can be a cheap alternative to some expensive “hosted PBXes” out there.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask here, or open a ticket at Evorack.com
Cheers,
Jonny
Hi Everyone,
The discount code now applies to all of our plans. This works out at £3.50 off per month off any of our unmanaged plans
Cheers
Jonny
Can anyone post disk I/O on this, just cancelled elsewhere due to ~7.5MB/s being deemed acceptable… don’t want to hit the same issue again.
I just want a small box for git hosting so this would be ideal if it’s not crawling through goop.
If someone can talk me through how to do a benchmark (bit of a *nix newb here sorry), I’ll gladly give it a crack.
About I/O? Well, the classic test
dd if=/dev/zero of=testfile count=10k bs=64k conv=fdatasync
That will write a 671MB file with zeros. (Everyone will hate me to promote IO tests xD)
I ran this three times, results as follows:
username@enterprise:~$ dd if=/dev/zero of=testfile count=10k bs=64k conv=fdatasync
10240+0 records in
10240+0 records out
671088640 bytes (671 MB) copied, 9.08581 s, 73.9 MB/s
username@enterprise:~$ dd if=/dev/zero of=testfile count=10k bs=64k conv=fdatasync
10240+0 records in
10240+0 records out
671088640 bytes (671 MB) copied, 9.23671 s, 72.7 MB/s
username@enterprise:~$ dd if=/dev/zero of=testfile count=10k bs=64k conv=fdatasync
10240+0 records in
10240+0 records out
671088640 bytes (671 MB) copied, 7.91125 s, 84.8 MB/s
Pretty good results. I am jealous :P
Thanks guys :D nice speeds!
Just to inform you guys, they have a new deal here -> http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1038592 same plan but for £2.34 (with this coupon: WHTIPV6) and only for the first 10 signups.
These guys are running another one of their ipv6 launch deals. Evorack doesn’t get enough
recognition around here. They are one of the top low end boxes I’ve had :) Good fast servers
+ service . Only downside is the lack of control panel to do re-imaging if you break the vps.
But they respond VERY quickly to tickets.
Been using an Evorack 512MB VPS for 2 months now to develop a django application. Speed of server and uptime is very impressive. As it’s a dev box I occassionally restart it, but between reboots I’m seeing weeks of uptime, so I’m confident in their service.
Suport at Evorack seems pretty quick and Jonny is very helpful; I think he never goes to bed either!
The only drawback, as others have said, is their lack of control panel. However I’ve spoken to Jonny in the past about this and he says it’s coming – excellent :)
I think it’s just their lack of control panel is what prevents me from moving all my business to Evorack. For now I’ll keep my Linode VPS going too, but I’ll quite happily switch in the future based-upon what I’ve experienced so far.
