Servers in Scranton PA with BurstNet. From their About Page, they are a “small VPS host from Toronto, Canada” — although you can’t figure that out from their WHOIS information as it’s privacy guarded. Domain is also only registered last month. Can’t find any related information on WHT either — which I personally think is a bad sign. So you are dealing with an unknown Canadian with no history, on a location that is also heavily populated with many other offers… I’ll pass.

well, I really, really, defend small business, but why I would buy a 128 MB vps $ 4.1, if burstnet offers 512 MB to $5.9?. The support can be really good, but the infrastructure is the same. I really do not understand. why someone would hire their services?. There are many resellers of Burstnet, offering the same price but quality support that really does not offer burstnet. Really do not understand.I would like to speak with the owner. I would like someone, from vpsrocket reply my comment.

That’s true, the network is exactly the same. In theory, we could offer a 512MB VPS for $5.95, but would you not then ask how such a small business can offer a 512MB VPS and still make enough profit off it to put another box online? We’re interested in pricing which keeps the server stable, not pricing which would drive us into net losses unless we pretended the servers we use were four times their actual specifications (mild exaggeration here :)

VPSRocket doesn’t resell BurstNET VPS packages, their packages use VEPortal, we use SolusVM.

I can see why some might order. No specs are not as high, infrastructure is the same as Bursts and their MANY re-sellers. However support can make or break a deal. I’d rather pay a few bucks more and have lower specs to have good, knowledgeable, and reliable support than have the most amazing deal in the world. All about the bell curve and where you want your host to be on it :)
I could see getting one if the systems were in Toronto, Canada as I originally thought these were based out of. I know I run into issues with my German VPS as some sites have German IP addresses blocked. Seems like very few folks block Canadian IP addresses.
But yes, there doesn’t seem to be much making these folks stand out. Even their Twitter account is rather empty.
Their AUP page is broken in Firefox 3.6.16 as it hangs off to the right due to those lines up there. Bots and IRC is allowed although IRC servers are not. Heh nothing about abusing staff though. :)
I’d rather pay less for the package as unmanaged is usually the way to go for a lot of people. What use is paying more for support if said support is unused?
Very true :) Most here are smart enough to manage the services themselves. But that doesn’t mean there are those here that DO need the support.
Great support usually comes from credible names. If you are a provider with credibility, why then do you hide it?! Okay some might pay hoping they can get good support. Those are as good as blind faith, unless we know who we are dealing with.
In order to BECOME a credible and trusted name you must provide that good support. To be able to provide good support you have to pay for it.
That doesn’t excuse hiding WHOIS though :) You’ve got me there.

So their servers are definitely there. They might organise their own transit so it’s totally independent from Burst’s. Or maybe they just forgot to put that on their AUP.
Actually if they are selling from burstnet they should know already that burstnet strictly forbids IRC usage on their network/servers, unless they have a special agreement with them ( i doubt ).

Generally from reading the criticism on here (which I appreciate), and the review provided by the admin, credibility seems to be an issue since we’re still new. Regarding the AUP and IRC issue, we’re aware that BurstNET does not allow IRC. We had issues with our dev server and it’s sync with the production web server. It has been updated now and I apologize for the confusion which anyone may have experienced from it. Just to clarify again, we don’t allow IRC or bots.

Not sure what you’re looking for in WHOIS information but we use domain privacy on all of our domains. I do agree about the point on transparency however, we’ve added in a physical address on our about page here.
