GigeVPSCurrent Status: Redirect to ThrustVPS.com
GigeVPS, started by Jacob Wall after acquiring HostLatch, post their first offer on LowEndBox in July 2010 offering 512MB OpenVZ VPS for $6.95/month in Orlando with HostDime. That did not last long, as Jacob then sold it to ThrustVPS in August 2010. Rus maintained the brand for a while, and then started redirecting it to ThrustVPS last month. Meanwhile, Jacob has moved on to his enterprise cloud solution. Pricing there is a bit enterprisy as well so probably won’t see him again here :) All the best.
HazeNET
HazeNETCurrent Status: Redirect to ThrustVPS.com
HazeNET were first featured on LowEndBox also in July 2010, and being probably the very first VPS provider offering 1GB OpenVZ VPS under $7/month, based in Kansas City. Colin was quite responsive at the beginning (like most provider owners here), but after another 1GB VPS offer around Christmas, he disappeared soon afterwards. It was then purchased by ThurstVPS, and has been redirecting to Thrust since May. As of Colin — no idea where he went.
IntelliServe
IntelliServeCurrent Status: IP not resolvable
IntelliServe posted their WHT offer and picked up by me early last month. £2.39/month 256MB OpenVZ VPS in an interesting location. Even more interesting — owner (as seen on his Wikipedia page) is a professional boxer. Anyway. Looks like professional boxing might be better for him. It went on sale a few days later and then not selling again. He off-loaded to someone else according to WHT, but that does not stop their website cease resolving on 26 May.
NoVPS
NoVPSCurrent Status: cPanel default page
NoVPS‘s customers now indeed have, hmm, No VPS, since its website is now showing cPanel parked page at the moment. In fact, as their last post on WHT was from November 2010, they could have been in dead pool back then. $30/year Xen package wasn’t too bad, but I think it might have been a scam with no intention to be a long running business right from the start.

PlasawebhostCurrent Status: Website account suspended
I posted offer from Plasawebhost just before Christmas after getting emails from Anto. $6.49/month 128MB OpenVZ VPS would be on the “expensive” side of scale overhere on WHT. It does not really translate to stability I guess. Their website is now showing “Account Suspended” message since 29 May. No one was whining and yelling as I guess not many people would have taken up the offer. Anto is still posting on his Facebook though so maybe some one can poke him with an inquiry.

SitePenguinCurrent Status: Website offline
SitePenguin‘s first offer was featured here almost 2 years ago. $4.99 for 128MB OpenVZ VPS — even on-par with some of today’s offer. They are also one of first few offering exclusive deals to LowEndBox readers. Then read the stories here. Yomura took over, ran it for a while, and finally pull the plug of their website at the end of May. Yomura’s other brands, Delimiter, is still around. XVPS is “under new management” and will be coming later this month.
veVPS
veVPSCurrent Status: Redirect to VolumeDrive.
veVPS — first post March 2011 with 1GB OpenVZ VPS for $7, hosted with VolumeDrive in Scranton. At least with our statistics, the reps coming for a fight on LowEndBox usually won’t have their business for long. It is now redirecting to VolumeDrive’s contact page, which I guess it’s VD’s way to say, “hey if you get scammed by these people, contact us!”. I better stop here, as I know someone might come out yelling “HATERRRRS!”
V for VPS
V for VPSCurrent Status: cPanel default page
V for VPS was first posted here in January. $4.99 for 384MB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago. Their Netherlands Switzerland server had spam-related issue, and the owner “Mike” basically just disappeared since March. Website went to cPanel default page on 6 May, and I think that’s the end of it.

These are the providers that might not have died last month, but are on my watch list for next month’s dead pool post.
- SimpleRack — Cody is trying to buy the site back. They are waiting for a new look, but the count down on their website has already reached 0…
- VPSLix — down since 2 June with hosting account suspended.
- XVPS — under new management. So Yomura sold it? They are coming in June 2011. We’ll see.

Yeah what’s wrong with Chinese? That said, out of all the websites that scrap/steal LowEndBox content, 80% of them are run by Chinese (including some who actually bothered to comment on this site). I ran a community website (Alexa ~10,000) and again, 75%-80% of spammers are from Chinese IP or Chinese on US-proxy.
You get to wonder why cheap VPS and LowEndBox is so much discussed on Chinese web hosting sites such as hostloc.com.

it means you need to register at the gov and police(with troublesome things such as taking photos like a prisoner)
you need to know that, chinese vps sucks. and the biggest problem is that you need to do so many thing to build up your site.
such as send your photo and a copy of your drivers licnese to your vps provider or DC if you rent a server.
ok, now your site is online. but dont happy so early, your need to handle your site very carefully.
take for example, if you run a forum, dont let members talk about the GOV. i dont mean we cant talk our GOV at all, but there is so many sensitive topics and the big brother is watch you, the best way is dont talk about it. if you dont do that, there is many chance to let you site get shut down.
besides GOV, there is a lot of things that your cant talk about.

Regarding VforVPS:

I am still in process of sueing them for my money, but according to the infos i got from the USA the owner lives in Egypt and the Data in the US is fake.

However I can hardly find a VPS hosted by Chinese appearing in LEB…
AFAIK NoVPS ran by a Chinese (a student? a visiting scholar) from Orlando. But yes you are right, there aren’t many Chinese VPS in dead pool. I don’t usually list VPS providers in the Chinese language though. Likewise I very rarely list VPS providers in German, French, Italian or Klingon (in whatever virtualization technology they use on their starships).

RLShosting have removed the VPS info pages. I could access them few hours ago.
We was reselling higher end boxes for a few months but we removed it completely since it wasn’t selling. Of course, the other products still sell just fine. No problems either with them.

The problem isn’t that they aren’t in Fremont, it’s known that they do have a node there. The problem is that they haven’t delivered services to hundreds of customers and blamed it on ‘a bad harddrive’.

Are there any *ehm* personal problem between you and Nordic? because every time someone mentions Nordic, there always you ^_^ hehe.. just curious, please don’t crush me with your mighty ponies.
My problem stems from people that shamelessly copy our plans then treat their clients like crap blaming the price for the reason their service is down/garbage. It then makes people iffy about biting on with the actual legit companies around.
If you check back I only started voicing myself in the nordic threads sometime this year when they tried to take away peoples IPV4 addresses in exchange for ‘free ipv6’

May be thats because you are not on an empty node. If any host can put you on a fresh node (with no other user) and they are using 4 disk Raid10 then you will experience the same

And a really good VPS provider can give fast disk performance > 200 MB/s, even when the node is full of customers.
Yes, if they invent some new laws of physics they could. Imagine 20 users on a node and all of them wanting to do 200MB/s disk transfer constantly – this makes 4000MB/s total. Which disks can you recommend for 4000MB/s write transfer?
Well they’ll probably use something like 4-8 (or more) 15K RPM SAS drive RAID 10 arrays, and I think it’d be rare for everybody on the node to be hitting it hard 24/7.
I have one VPS I can get 200 MB/s from consistently, and the node is loaded with around 30 VMs.
