Devon from RockMyWeb is celebrating their 6th anniversary with a new brand called ‘Cloud3K‘. RockMyWeb were last featured on LowEndBox last year with their other brand Virtually Dedicated.
Cloud Server VPS
|
Cloud3K is a subsidiary of “RockMyWeb and VirtualComplete LLC”. Kind of confusing with three different brands but Cloud3k is designed to offer ‘affordable cloud servers’. The terminology of ‘Cloud’ has been discussed a few times on LowEndTalk with some people saying the term is valid and others calling it a marketing term for a ‘High Availability VPS’.
According to Cloud3k’s website, their system stores your data on two physical servers which helps keep your data safe and server online in the event of a failure. They also have a load balancing system which gives you higher performance than a normal Virtual Server “by balancing cloud servers between physical devices based on load”.
They allow Adult content, VPN and customers can also enable PPP/TUN from their panel but be sure to view their full Terms Of Service. They offer a full 30 day money back guarantee with a 100% uptime SLA policy.

Possible to run pptp/l2tp vpn?
Yes, you may enable PPP and TUN devices from our control panel.
SPECIAL UPDATE: If you don’t need 1GB of RAM, we have added our Lowendbox exclusive 512MB special for $10/quarter ($3.33/mo), view it here: http://cloud3k.com/servers_leb.php
Zahra: Thank you for posting our special.
An update to our LEB special: Save $3.00 off of our Chicago High Traffic servers, therefore, you can get the same specs listed above with 4TB of bandwidth for only $6.95/month!
What’s the port speed on it?
All of our servers are on gigabit connections to 10gbps+ networks.
Pleasure!
50GB SSD? really?
SSD-cached. We see about 3000-5000 IOPS in benchmarking as opposed to 10000 of a pure SSD or 200 of a standard SSD.
By using an SSD ontop of a RAID10, we are able to produce excellent random I/O and provide much more space than we would with a pure SSD.
200 of a standard SATA*

Anyone looking for a benchmark on this plan can view: http://vpseer.com/hosting-plan/90/cloud3k-com-private-cloud-server-1gb-ram-50gb-7-95-usd
Do you allow Tor relays to be run on your cloud servers? a middle node (not an Exit node)
There would be no abuse because none of the stuff going through it would go out onto the
internet, it would go just to other tor servers.
I am not familiar enough to tell you what you can or can’t host with regards to tor. If illegal content is being transferred through your server, it will result in termination. Distribution to servers and distribution to clients is no different in the eyes of the law.
Ok sounds like it should not be a problem then. You will never get abuse reports for it because nobody will be able to tell that the traffic ever passed through your servers/network.
Shouldn’t be an issue. If the modules aren’t already loaded, just submit a support ticket and we’ll have it loaded on there within a few minutes for you.
New Jersey – AS Network: http://bgp.he.net/AS20473 seems IPv6 capable. Is it IPv6 available also for your clients on this location?
IPv6 is not yet enabled. The two networks that will have it within a month are New Jersey and Illinois.
Our expected time frames are:
Illinois: 2 weeks
New Jersey: 4 weeks
Indiana and Nevada: ~8+ weeks
Can you do a smaller plan, like half of the current or even a quarter of which.
The 1gb is too big for me
1GB is currently the smallest plan we offer. Check back in the future and we may offer an LEB exclusive smaller plan. Although, currently this plan is only 20 cents / day!
My favorite US based provider along with Databasebydesign LLC.
Hey guys! Is incredible now I visit LEB more than /. FB or Google!
I want your recommendation.
VolumeDrive has 1GB RAM for $4.95/mo in the followin link:
http://volumedrive.com/vdrive/?a=vps
I missed the Nodedeploy opportunity and also the Semoweb $12/year one.
Can you tell me if VolumeDrive is a good deal or if Cloud3k is better or any other offering with 1GB ram? thank yo very much
Julio Rodriguez
Where are you located, Julio? Our different datacenters give you choice based on your location.
VolumeDrive’s offer is good but it doesn’t offer the redundancy our cloud does, SSD cached systems for high performance random I/O, and access to 4 CPUs.
VolumeDrive will make you curse.
I’d stay 100 miles away from Volumedrive.
There was no ticketing system with them. Responses to support where largely blackholed.
Setup times can be quite long.
They are solely (at last check) reached via email only.
Networks they are on (Burst.net) is nothing to write home about.
Do you allow running transmission as personal seed box?
I am purchasing a package now, will write a review shortly…
Everything seems to be running smoothly, placed the order, went through their VPS setup system, looks like a nice panel, and speeds are good. A CentOS 6.0 x64 with cPanel/WHM was installed within 2-3 minutes using their panel. Now just to get a response to my sales ticket inquiring how to obtain additional IP addresses.

You can’t do proper benchmarks with a speedtest in the same datacenter
I don’t believe this customer is in our Illinois datacenter.
What Server Specification use at all Server you have ?
We have a large variety of servers, some Xeon 5400s, some Core i7s, and some Xeon E3s.
All servers now offer a SATA RAID with SSD caching. Most of our servers use Samsung 830s as the SSD.
Can I purchase an additional IPv4 address?
Yes, additional IPs are outlined here: http://cloud3k.com/ips.php
Currently looking for a host to replace avantehosting vps.
1 gig of memory is more than I need in a server, since I plan to run a few dozen small wordpress and flatpress sites on it.
Can you craft a plan that is 128/256 burstable with 5 gig storage and 50 gig/month transfer?
If so, what is the cost?
Thank you.
We’re going to be putting out a plan for $10/quarter pretty soon. Will that meet your budget? If so, I will post an order link later today.
It isn’t in our business plan to offer these $1/month VPS that some do as it isn’t profitable from our standpoint. While it may be more resources than you need, it does give you more room to grow, and is only a few pennies a day more.
Devon, Any of just 25GB of storage, 512MB dedicated RAM and 250GM monthly BW is so good for my low traffic websites.
Thanks,
(*)250GB, please read! sorry.
Here you go: http://cloud3k.com/servers_leb.php
Thanks, Devon.
Devon: I already have a big VPS (1.5/2) for MX1/DNS1/WWW1/VPN as well as a medium VPS (256/512) for MX2/DNS2/WWW2. Your numbers seem good though, and I would not hesitate to mention your offer to anyone looking for a sizeable virtual server in the U.S.
Chris: How much burstable? Page doesn’t say.
We have added our 512MB special for $10/quarter ($3.33/mo): http://cloud3k.com/servers_leb.php

Any ability to have this in Indiana?
Chicago Metro is our Indiana location. We call it Chicago Metro because it is only ~1 hour from Chicago and pulls all of the fiber directly from Chicago.
Chris, are you kidding? all your LA plans are out of stock.
Its not live yet, next week :)
Chris, pretty low to post a link to your web site on our offer, isn’t it?
Meh, I have no shame
I used their service, virtuallydedicated from March 2010 until February 2011 and they do have a good service & support (Devon is very helpful).
The only reason I stop their service was moving to a dedi.
Virtuallydedicated / RockMyweb is on my top provider list as they never let me down.
Thanks for the compliments, we work hard to provide great service! 6 years and counting :)
Been at least 2 years with Devon, great guy, provides great support, provides good performance VPS, doesn’t increase prices for old customers, a bit lacks EU time support. Still A+ host on my list.
Thanks for your compliments and criticism. We have always had 24-hour emergency support but in the recent months we have extended our normal support hours to 24-hours as well. Nearly all support tickets are now answered within one hour at any time of the day.
I hope this makes us better at serving customers in the EU.
Does OpenVPN AS run on Cloud3K servers? anyone know?
We have many users using OpenVPN with the creation of a TUN device from our control panel. Does AS require a different module to be loaded?
It requires some additional iptables modules that you may already have loaded and they are
listed in here http://openvpn.net/index.php/access-server/docs/admin-guides/186-how-to-run-access-server-on-a-vps-container.html .
looks like ipt_state ,iptable_nat , ipt_mark & ipt_MARK .
Posted this under the wrong comment of yours above:
Shouldn’t be an issue. If the modules aren’t already loaded, just submit a support ticket and we’ll have it loaded on there within a few minutes for you.

I signed up around 12 hours ago in Las Vegas.
So far, support is fast to respond, and the performance is pretty good. No complaints yet. :)
Hi Devon. I’m in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (Caribbean) my ping to Indiana is 85 ms, to Illinois is 78, to Las Vegas is 114 ms and to New Jersey is 64 ms on average. I think the nearest point to me is NJ. My main domain will serve to Latin America (South America) mainly Colombia, so, a server in Florida will be the best option.
In the 512MB special, do you offer burst RAM? and there is no mention about ipv4 or ipv6.
The closest option we have is NJ. This is a great middle ground for Latin America, the US, and Europe, being just 1ms from NYC, the biggest city & POP in the US.
The 512MB special does not include burst RAM. IPv6 is expected in NJ in ~4 weeks, 1 IP address is included with all of our servers.
Thanks for the special plan. Will u consider a 256 with maybe semiannual / annual payment?
will 256 plan be possible?
No, we will not be offering anything lower than the 512MB special for $10/quarter.
Hi just purchased. How do I go about finding the ip address? I opened a ticket and asked there as well
Sorry for posting support issues. please remove this comment as well as this reply as needed
No problem, we received our new IP block in NJ and have assigned your VPS the IP now.
Thank you for your patience, NJ has been a popular spot with this promotion :)
The process was done in a breeze, the control panel is elegant, the payment method fast and flawless. Now I must decide wich OS to install.
Can somebody help me here. I in noway am a geek, have a lot of websites with Joomla and some with JomSocial, one of them receives ~800 – 1,200 visits everyday.

The choice of OS more depends on your preferences. If you are a redhat fan, go with CentOS, if you are a debian fan either Debian or Ubuntu will work for you.
Ubuntu and CentOS seem to be the popular choices of our customers, but it is more of a personal preference than a wrong or right choice.
will it have a great impact if I install a 64 bit OS or is better a 32 bit one (considering the 512MB with no burst memory limit)
Most on here recommend 32-bit, but personally I like 64-bit. If you use applications made for the 64-bit architecture, they will perform better.
To get the most of your memory, try disabling services you don’t use, and optimizing options like disabling innodb in mysql and setting a lower startservers in apache. You could even replace apache with an alternative like nginx or lighttpd.
Thank you for the suggestions. I’ve started working with CentOS in another VPS, now that I switched I choose CentOS but 64 bit (must have plenty of RAM compared with 128 MB) I would like to optimize my server to a maximum level. Where can I get resourses for doing that? what you say seems interesting but as of today I havent worked with innodb or nginx.
Thank you
If you don’t use innodb, you can add the option skip-innodb under [mysqld] in /etc/my.cnf, that will save several MB of memory for you.
As for nginx, you may first want to try apache if you are used to it. If you have enough memory, it may save you time trying to learn nginx. We, however, use nginx for some of our things and it works very well and is very light on resources.
If you are interested in reading up on nginx, you can find information here: http://nginx.com/docs.html
One more thing, you can use our DNS servers if you wish and remove BIND, or the DNS server you are running, which will save some memory as well. You can create DNS records on our control panel.
Those suggestions are very healthy. I tested the speed of the default apache page with tools.pingdom.com and they are great! I feel this servers are really fast. Thank you for your kind support. I’ll be bothering you for a couple of days so please be patient…
I just want to say that this is an amazing deal.
I’ve been going back and forth between 2-3 hosts for setting up a dev environment and this blows everything out of the water.
Thank you Devon.
Hi Devon !
vDedicated can use Coupon SIXYEAR too, is’nt it ?
sorry about my english
Yes, the SIXYEAR will work for both the private and vdedicated.
Server has been absolutely excellent until here within the past few hours, been nothing but unstable up and down :-( Submitted in support ticket, waiting for response for a little while now…

Like I said, havent had a problem since I got this a few days ago, but its teeter-totting now. Anyone else having issues?
This host is amazing been with them for a month now.
Hello, I can’t find a way to purchase it.
Oops, I was on a wrong url.
Sorry.
Can i install windows server 2008 / 2012 in this vps ?
These are linux only servers.
Ok. Is it possible to run windows server 2008 r2 in for example in qemu in private cloud or vdedicated?
I have 1 VPS from them for few months now and so far everything is great. Devon is also very helpful and very professional to work with.
I got the 1024MB Las Vegas VPS:

First days with them, after moving away from … poor uptime in the UK.
All I can say support helped me quick me some changes to set shared memory and locked shared memory that I needed for Informix database.
Lets hope we can get to a year uptime as at some of my other VPS sites.
Happy camper so far. :)
Started service with them last month. I have to say, service has been much better than other providers I have used over the past few years. I recommend giving them a shot.
i have a vps from Byteonsite now in testing~~~and i choosed the memory intensive plan, share some basic test performance, basic results looks good cool~ uptime and stability not tested yet.
