PacketVM is back with a new and interesting offer for our community.
The TLDR:
- Get an allotment of resources you can carve up into multiple VMs
- Starts at only $4/month with 3 IPs and unlimited IPv6!
- Dallas or Silicon Valley
If you’re not familiar with PacketVM, they’re a UK-based provider who we’ve featured before.
They’re launching a new product line, and I’ll let them explain it to you:
It is similar to VPS reseller, however we are calling it VPS Resource Packs. You can purchase packs of resources and you will then be able to create VM’s as and when you please via our VPS Control Panel. Resource packs can be upgraded and downgraded as you wish, however cannot be downgraded any further than our Base-1 pack. They can, however, be upgraded higher than our Base-3 pack. There are some pre-set upgrades in the client area that can be purchased (pricing for upgrades below) but if you want anything custom then this is also possible.
You will be able to create VM’s in all of our OpenVZ locations, which is currently Dallas and Silicon Valley. As we launch new locations, you will also be able to use your resources to create VM’s in those locations too (a Europe or Asia location will likely be next). At this time, resource packs are only available for OpenVZ but we hope to launch for KVM shortly too. Our standard VM’s are also still available to purchase.
All VPS Resource Packs also come with free DNS hosting (manageable via our VPS Control Panel) for your domains (no limit on number of domains or zones). We have a clustered DNS set up whereby one DNS server is located in Amsterdam and the other in New Jersey.
Everything is white-label so if you wish to use this for reselling VM’s then that is fine too.
Cool!
Years and years ago, I tried out one of these systems with another provider and they’re pretty cool. The flexibility is great, particularly if you pair it with Ansible or something that lets you quickly reconfigure systems. For example, you can share resources among your nodes but perhaps beef up one temporarily as a game server on the weekend – the possibilities are endless.
And they start at only $4/month! Wow!
Check out their Terms of Service (nothing surprising), get out your PayPal, and then read on!

Hello,
I do love resource packs! Flexible on IPs, disks and memory… but your offer misses CPU discription…
Some info about min/max/fair CPU cores for OPENVZ plans would be nice…
I mean… I want to know if 3 with IPs on 3 different VPSs will I have 3 x 1 CPUs @ acceptable near 100% on deployment? Using xMz @ full max?
Thanks
Resource packages are definitely a cool way to sell VPS services. :)
Server is super fast, speed is great. Amazing value for what you are getting. Only negative currently is they have been out of IP v4 for about a week, so if you need a IPv4 I would not order yet.
Resource packages are an amazing idea, hopefully this becomes the way of the future.
packetvm.com domain appears to be offered for sale.
