BHost – £3.77 512MB OpenVZ VPS in UK

Tags: , , Date/Time: June 23, 2011 @ 9:04 am, by LowEndAdmin

BHost People have been complaining about lack of interest in good UK providers. Still burnt by the RackVM incident? Anyway here we go — it’s another UK VPS provider worth mentioning. Nicholas from BHost emailed me their June promo code for LowEndBox readers. LOWENDBOXJUNEJULY will get you 23% off — just 1% short from their previous offer in April. If you sign up annual payment, they will also throw in a free .com, .net, .org or a .uk domain as part of the package (like last time). You will need to open a ticket to request the free domain. Their “Bronze” plan would be £3.77/month (~USD$6.04) after the discount. That’s excluding VAT so for UK/EU users you will need to add your VAT into the final price. It comes with

  • 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ

Servers with RapidSwitch in UK. They are an UK registered company since 2002. Good reviews so far here at LowEndBox, which you can check from previous posts. They have been nominated in the current poll although no votes so far.

The original owner of LowEndBox known as "LowEndAdmin" or "LEA" for short founded LowEndBox in 2008 and created the concept of hosting applications on low resource "Low End Boxes". After creating the roots of the community that we know today, "LEA" stepped aside and allowed others to carry the torch forward.

  3. user:

Have a bronze package from them since Feb/March

(also have a $15 Buyvm package)

overall, I like it. Little to no downtime, no problems with the CPU/ram usage

Running Redmine on it. Redmine sucks too much ram with the default ruby/rails package, thinking of using a low-mem version.

and of course, BBC iPlayer and spotify

  4. Akvavit:

Just signed up for the Bronze pack, to test it out – I reckon it’s quite easy to upgrade if need be?

But so far everything in the setup worked smooth, great stuff!
