Be careful when you deal with Racknerd, they have changed something in their system where they will save your credit card info WITHOUT your knowledge and automatically renew services when they expire without your knowledge. Not only that, they don’t even let you remove that saved card from your account which is not only fraudulent but also illegal.
Most banks now have a feature called virtual credit cards. It’s basically a ‘fake’ number that ties to your real card and can be locked or deleted at will. I always use it when dealing with these cheap host deals as in the past some have been hacked and or just disappear overnight after selling yearly deals. That way they can save whatever they want it’s completely useless to them and hackers alike as that card can only be used at that one vendor.
Hi Patrick — Thank You for bringing this to our attention. For full transparency, we use WHMCS as our billing/support system – the same billing platform that almost every hosting provider in the hosting industry uses, along with WHMCS’s official Stripe integration (a tokenized gateway, meaning no card information is actually stored on our side). You can learn more about this secure implementation at https://docs.whmcs.com/payments/payment-gateway-modules/stripe/
We offer various flexible payment options to accommodate different preferences. This includes one-time PayPal payments for those who prefer not to leave any payment method on file, or PayPal subscription payments for those who prefer the convenience of automated billing. Of course, traditional credit card payment methods are also available via Stripe.
Regarding credit card storage, while the last 4 digits of your card may appear in our client area portal (WHMCS) for reference, the full card details are never stored on our servers, for reasons explained earlier (with WHMCS’ Stripe integration being a tokenized gateway).
Our clients always have complete freedom to manage their services, including submitting cancellation requests directly through the client area in the “My Services” page at any time. Inputting a cancellation request for any given service will automatically remove any outstanding renewal invoices for that service, if applicable. For those who keep a card on file, we’re always happy to adjust billing preferences upon request too – just let us know.
I’d like to look into your specific situation and ensure your satisfaction here. Could you please email me at dustin@racknerd.com with your account details? I’ll personally review this and ensure any concerns are properly addressed.
I sincerely appreciate your time and look forward to hearing back from you.
