Hi Idc, if you’re looking for something different we do have alternatives, including Ryzen KVM NVMe builds ;)
Just get in touch dustin@racknerd.com
Love me some RackNerd but, really?
We try and cater to LEB by delivering new deals, and ones that are attractive. We appreciate your support Susan.
As always, if you’re looking for something different, or expected different, just let me know dustin@racknerd.com and I’ll do my best to help.
do you support nested virtualization?
Hi Googer! Great question!
We appreciate your interest in RackNerd :) While we don’t support nested virtualization (running a VPS within a VPS), we do provide host-passthrough with all of our KVM VPS services.
Please feel free to get in touch with us at anytime, as we’re always eager to earn your business.
I’m interested in this deal but don’t see the Dallas location listed when purchasing. Can it be added?
Hi cc20 — We sincerely appreciate your interest in RackNerd. Each and every promotion will alter our inventory levels, so you’ll commonly find certain locations “out of stock” or unavailable as a result of popularity of our deals. Though the good news is that we’re constantly monitoring inventory and replenishing it with new deployments to help.
If you need something, immediately that is, I can help :) Just send me an e-mail dustin@racknerd.com and I can review.
Their networks are one of the slowest… Cpu performance compared to others are ~2 times slower. Also, forget about ssd (i know they are saying its ssd) its actually hdd. Software and test show their disks as hdd (doesnt happen in other servers).
Hi Justin,
Our aim is to consistently deliver top-tier performance, and we have established a decent track record in the industry for offering production-grade and high-performance solutions. Rest assured, we utilize only pure SSD’s in our infrastructure (and even NVMe on certain product lines). For these offers, all host nodes run with minimum 8x SSD’s in a Hardware RAID-10 array for maximum performance and redundancy. Due to the nature of virtualization, certain software or testing tools might misidentify the drive type (regardless of VPS provider, whether that be with us, or another VPS provider that you utilize). For example, tools like smartctl or lsblk may detect the virtualized disks as “vda” devices. This is because the virtualization layer abstracts the physical hardware, and some tools when ran within the VM itself (instead of the host node level) might not be able to accurately identify the underlying storage type from the VM level. To take it a step further, you can run an I/O test, such as this command:
dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync;unlink test
When running I/O tests such as the above command, you’ll quickly notice that the speeds achieved with our VPS services far surpass the capabilities of any traditional HDD. The type of speeds you’ll see wouldn’t technically be possible to achieve even with the most advanced spinning HDD’s in the market – further showing that our infrastructure is powered by SSD’s.
Please feel free to reach out to me via e-mail at dustin@racknerd.com with more information about your account (such as your VPS IP) along with your use-case so that we can take a look and tailor a resolution path for you. I sincerely appreciate your time and look forward to hearing back from you!
Hey Dustin,
I purchased the one year 2 GB KVM VPS and it is extremely slow )Order Number: 2489807864). All my websites have gone from 2Sec to 6 Sec response. I was before with Digital Ocean $5 VPS.
I know you offer no refunds but can I maybe upgrade the plan ( I will pay the difference)? If not it feels like a waste of money for me.
Idk if it is the CPU that is slow or SSD. The ram seems fine.
Thank you,
Graham Miranda
