We know Pete’s brother Marc, from PhoenixVPS, who helps him get started. Hosting runs in the family, you might say! KVM Shell currently offers these machines out of PhoenixNAP in Phoenix, AZ, USA. The host nodes run dual Xeon E5-2609 quad core CPUs (some have hexa core Xeon E5-2620s), 128GB Registered DDR3 RAM,  and 6x 2TH WD RE4 drives in RAID10 with 4x 120GB Samsung enterprise SSD drives for caching! KVM Shell was launched in June 2013 and has been offering the above KVM packages (and more) since. They also offer a free DNS service and can set up a IPv6 tunnel for you (no native IPv6 available yet). KVM Shell accepts PayPal and credit cards for payments. They do support custom ISOs though no Windows as this time (also not bring-your-own-license, because they have no way to check it). They don’t have a very strict ToS: basically most things are allowed except anything illegal in the USA. High CPU usage is allowed on the condition that you notify them first so they can put you on a CPU cap. You should read their full Terms of Service, as well as their Appropriate Use Policy, and Privacy Policy before ordering. Please share your experiences with us if you give them a try!

Network tests

Phoenix, AZ, USA: PhoenixNAP
Test IPv4: 198.24.158.194
Test Files: http://phoenix.kvmshell.com (10MB and 100MB available)

512MV? I think that should be MB? And the prices listed here don’t line up with the price on their website (which are lower)

Also FYI their AUP says no VPN/IRC without approval, and prohibits “the streaming of adult content over our network.”

    • We have notified the staff, so I’m sure that the quarterly pricing on here will be fixed in a little bit. It is indeed $12/quarter for the 512MB package, not $21.
Most of the time we approve the use of the VPS for VPN/IRC, we only ask customers to inform us and ask for permission as a precaution. And yes, the streaming of adult content is indeed prohibited, so if you want to do that, you might want to look for a provider that specializes in that kind of hosting as there are a few out there.

  3. We use http://kvm.sh as a shortcut to http://www.kvmshell.com and we provided the order links with the kvm.sh domain name when we submitted the offer to LEB. I have now created the proper redirects and it should take you right to the order page. Or you can just replace “kvm.sh” with “kvmshell.com”. Thank you and sorry about this.

1gb kvm is 7/mo, 512mb is 21/qtr. why get less resources when you commit longer?

    • I am sorry about the confusion, 512MB is indeed $12/quarter. Unfortunately it is a misprint, I am sure that Mr. Kossen will fix this soon.

THXLEB20 this coupon not for lifetime?

        • It’s for the first invoice, regardless if you choose to pay monthly, quarterly, etc. These VPS servers are SSD cached (hardware RAID 10, BBU, CacheCade 2.0), and the regular pricing has already been set to be in line with the expectations of our community.

    • As long as you don’t infringe on anyone’s copyrights you may (e.g. torrent movies, software, etc. that is copyrighted).

  17. It appears that they are going belly up. We had a server with them and suddenly we could not get their system to accept Paypal payments starting last month. Now they have suspended our server despite the fact that we have tried multiple times to pay.

Attempts to login to their client area now are impossible as they have been claiming for days that they are in “Maintenance Mode.”

I think that people who make offers through LEB should have to register and provide picture ID.
