Jeff from LFCVPS (Loose Foot Computing Ltd.), a registered company in Canada, sent in an exclusive plan for all LowEndBox readers.
LEB-USA-1GB |
|
LFCVPS have had a few offers featured here at LowEndBox and have posted a few offers at LowEndTalk. It is also worth noting that this package includes 7 daily backups, 3 weekly and 1 user controlled backup as well as free DNS hosting. LFCVPS is part of Loose Foot Computing which has provided shared hosting and co-location services since 1996, however it is only more recently, in mid-2011, that they started to provide VPS hosting. As mentioned above, this specific offer is only available in Denver. LFC run their own AS with FDC’s network as well as their own Cogent link. LFCVPS came 10th in our recent Q3 top Providers poll.
Orders are manually activated, to check for any fraudulent activity etc., they have a 7-day refund policy as stated in their TOS and they accept Credit Card or PayPal. Their Terms Of Service is pretty easy to read unlike many which is always good. The overall feedback from their company has been quite positive. Please share your experience with us below in the comments section.

Xen-PV or OpenVZ?
Xen, you won’t find us ever offering OpenVZ.
it is saying : 1GB Xen-PV in Denver :)
And OpenVZ in the details :)
Ha … OpenVZ with SolusVM … you are right on this one :)
Hey, that was my mistake. Apologies.
If the code LEB-USA-1GB is right, then Its Xen as per: http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/5544/lfcvps-1gb-xenpv-vps-for-6.50month
Also, since I host with them (happy customer), I remember they don’t offer OpenVZ – so that’s simple :).
This is a really nice vps offer, networking outside of US could be better but the price tag makes it a best buy.
I/O speed : 178 MB/s
I think things will improve after the first round of benchmarkers :)
I got one of these, it is 100% Xen . I’m happily running Ubuntu 12.10 with the 3.5 Linux kernel.
Just order one. Hope running Arch smoothly on it :)
Yup, Arch works fine other than the network configuration isn’t done automatically.
Very interesting offer… I think I need to give up some of my VPS for this price. :)
Looking forward to signup.
Thanks
Where is the test IP really located?
It’s really located in Denver. That IP address is registered to us though as we’re a Canadian company hence the WHOIS data, however a traceroute will show you that it is indeed in Denver.
All VPS’s provisioned in Denver do have US registered IP addresses by default, by the way.
Is there a way to get a Canadian IP?
@Keven, we can give you a Canadian IP if you want instead of the US one. Just put in a ticket.
Indeed,
maybe because of HE, :)
Thanks,
Is that $6.50 USD (or Canadian? since they are “registered company in Canada”)
@ admins, it would be helpful if you indicated USD or Can when posting offers in $.
I will pass your feedback on however is it really worth it? $6.50 US dollars = $6.49 Canadian dollars
It’s USD.
USD — the vast majority of our clients are billed in USD and it didn’t make a lot of sense to also bill in Canadian.
Just ordered mine. Can’t wait to test it out :)
what server use and Ghz , can u give specification
http://www.lfcvps.com/hardware.php specifies what server hardware and specifications they use.
How about uptime guaranteed i nott see that into the official site
that hardware but i not see the cpu ghz ? this importan to kow coz will be effect to the server performance
We’re currently using E5-2620s which are 2Ghz, CPU usage is almost nil on the nodes. We do not have an SLA; however, I think we’ve had a great track record thus far — it’s hard to offer a meaningful SLA with such low prices.
Sorry, forgot to mention the nodes with E5520s are 2.27Ghz.
The subsequent renewals is the how much money
$6.50/month.
Is this price valid for lifetime?
Yup, lifetime.
I m sorry I must have missed the comment and reply above. Ignore my question, simply. I guess I m going to order one and see. Sounds promising.
Can I run java? I want to run Jenkins, Confluent and Jira
1GB might not be enough for jenkins
That’s right. I ordered one. Everything look good and support is fast.
Server is fast too, only Jira installed right now. I might add another 1gb ram ($5) which is a fair price.
Thanks.
The LFCVPS server that I acquired, thanks to this promo, is possibly the best VPS I’ve ever been on. The discounted price is insanely good, even after paying tax (Canadian=pay taxes, obviously).
The fastest VPS out of any that I’ve used and I currently have an EDIS, ProviderService, ThrustVPS, InceptionHosting and I compared it to a Linode, plus another 20 companies that are even lower quality than the ones named. Even a dedicated server didn’t match up to this LFCVPS server.
The non-discounted prices are high, definitely, but IMO would be worth paying considering the quality of the server. No downtime so far (4 days and counting) and it’s insanely fast.
I can only hope the ride stays this good, because I’m about to order another server or two right now. Hopefully I can use this promo more than once on the same account (seems I should be able to according to above comments).
Thank you very much for the positive comments Maki. We’re pretty proud of the hardware we run this service on – we’ve been building rock solid hardware for our shared hosting service for years to run Xen on, so it was a natural fit to continue building them the same way for LFCVPS. As a point of reference for uptime, our first node currently has an uptime of 140 days and likely would have been much higher if not for a critical Xen bug a few months back that we needed to patch. I’m confident that you’ll also be able to see those kinds of uptime numbers as well.
It’s good to hear that your only downtime was caused by the Xen bug that everyone had to deal with.
By the way, how long will this deal be available and how many can I add to my account?
I don’t think we have an expiry date just yet on this promo. As of this moment we have no limits in place on the amount of these you could order.
Currently have a 2GB OpenVZ plan with ChicagoVPS, but it’s sometimes a bit slow. Ordered one of these plans and am looking forward to trying it out. So far it seems quite zippy, which to me is more useful than an extra GB of RAM.
I am going to go ahead and not recommend these guys. I am currently locked in for one year and am very much so regretting my choice. My VPS has consistently high ping times during after dinner hours. It seems like they over sell VPS’s because it is fine during the day, but as soon as it gets dark, my VPS takes forever typing into SSH.
Hey Jacob, that’s very strange and isn’t an issue we’ve been notified about by other clients. If you want to open up a ticket with some traceroutes during both bad and good times, I can look into it further for you.
As I understand there is no way to over sell xen vps. But may be I’m wrong.
Sounds like network issue rather than overselling or slowness. I’m sure Jeff will work it out.
Xen can be oversold — memory and disk are the hardest but CPU/bandwidth are easy to oversell.
Ordered one. Pending activation. Hope it will be a nice experience.
I’m a customer and their boxes fly .
I have an improved version of the offer ( double sized and 512 mb more).
I forgot to disable my vpn client when ordered and suspicious as fraudulent.
I’ve since accepted the offer after verifying with @Permadi that it was indeed a valid order.
Can I get a VPS with 10GB disk, 1/2 TB bandwidth (rest of the specifications same) at a reduced price?
Please open a ticket with our sales department and we’ll get something figured out.
Thanks. Purchased and got VPS setup :)
We’re currently out of stock on this promotion as we’ve had such great results. A new node has been ordered though and I’ll reply to this when it gets in and goes live.
So there is hope still, then! Great!
We’re getting rush delivery on hardware so it won’t be too long.
I am pleased and excited! I still ordered tonight :)
New node (hanna) is up now and we’re putting orders on it.
For what it is worth, I have had a 256 MB plan with LFCVPS since June 2012 in Denver. This is my latest uptime reading and only shows this amount due to a re-install as I was playing around. Great service.
14:24:27 up 102 days, 13:40, 1 user, load average: 0.07, 0.04, 0.00
Thanks Michael. You’re not too far off our best uptime on the nodes which was due to a reboot after a critical Xen exploit.
Just ordered one. Still waiting for provision, hopeful did not take long.
Man, am I glad the promo was still running (and going so strong you had to put up another node)! I picked up the LEB-USA-1GB package and plan to shift a few sites to it. Many thanks to LEB for negotiating great deals for the community.
Do you support PPTPD?
thanks
Just ordered mine, waiting for activation. Amazing offer, already run one low end VPS with them, so far no problem or downtime for 5 months!
Thanks Carl. I’m always happy to hear about clients who have great uptime.
VPS is flying! I am impressed how it handles heavy Joomla based website!
I m a customer of LFCVPS for around a month. No issues or problems. DNS Hosting also works great and saves you a lot of effort.
I’m rather proud of the DNS section myself, having built the majority of it :)
Awesome work Ian. Thanks and congratz for the nice service.
Setup a server here for my move to Denver.
Support answered quickly, a second IP routing / networking question was answered even faster.
IP add on provisioning time was fast as well.
Really like these guys, about to pick up a second box. Have one setup for production use already. Highly recommended for Denver / Mid-West
Thanks Kris. I like us too :)
@Iann_LFCVPS – I’m considering picking up another LFCVPS box. Would like to move several production sites over to one of these VPSes but wondering how difficult is it to get additional IPs? Right now, a couple of my sites are on shared hosting on their own dedicated IPs. Don’t really want to buy several VPSes *just* to get dedicated IPs for these sites.
You can add IPv4 addresses as an addon to your service and we generally just ask that there is a valid justification for it as the amount of available addresses is dwindling.
this is the 3rd month subscribing their service, so far nothing to complain. everything went smoothly.
Thanks Syahril. We’re actually just about needing to order another node as this promotion continues to be fairly popular.
I’m truly happy with their service, open a ticket and replied almost instantly. Downtime? Never experienced it even once. Already subscribed 3 VPS so far. Keep up the good work guys!
Allows adult content?
Yup, adult content is fine.
This is THE BEST VPS for someone who loves to test things out or tinker with settings. It’s like it was MADE for sandboxing. Gotta say I am in love with the backup feature this host provides. I can play around with anything and with the flip of a switch, rollback to a previous image! I’ve tried other VPS host and not too many offer this simple yet powerful feature surprisingly.
So far no downtime and I am amazed at the speed of this thing. The only difficulty I have right now is coming up with what type of website/service I want to create with it :)
Keep it up! I may just buy more for the hell of it xD
Thanks Chris for the compliments. Jeff would like to get another promo out to lowendbox soon so keep your eye out for that.
Jeff and Iann have a very sturdy and powerful set of boxes which allowed me to max out the bandwidth usage from a project which I am member of.
The only downside I can possibly think of is that they have their own network ( which is kind of premium compared with bare FDC@Denver and this makes it “”more expensive”” than you could expect).
Please note I made use of double quotes intending that means that it is not really expensive but more than FDC.
Thanks
Juan
Loosefoot is horrible. You must not be actually using for anything but play time.
In the last 12 months we have seen 2 server moves, 1 server crash, 15+ days of downtime.
That computes to 1,000’s of percentage points worse than industry standard.
Our latest saga involves 20-25 second response times.
Iann says “it is our fault”.
Yet we can run the same program, with no changes, over during different times of the day and get 15 second variations in response times.
buyer beware
Hello, LFC – what is the price for extra IPv4 address? Thanks.
